How is Vanguard?

So I picked up the game 3+ years ago in a bargain bin, installed and did around 19billion hours of updates (dsl) and I just couldn't really get into it.. I liked most things about the game..but it was just kinda hard to understand and it was very quite.

So...

Has the game changed at all since 2009? graphic updates? more, less people playing? does it look like the game is going to die in a year? is it worth picking up again?

Last time I played it there weren't a ton of people, but enough that I did some questing with etc. Don't believe there have been any graphic updates.

It won't be dying as its supposed to be going f2p come summer, also with that they said they would be hiring some guys to update it more frequently.

Vanguard is the same from last time you played it. It hasn't gotten better. Only now it has less than 400 people online at any given time.

It's a great game but it doesn't sound like you will enjoy it when you didn't the first time you tried it.

Yeah thats what I kinda thought. It had some great ideas, but over all was just to clunky.

You can either play clunky yet deep or polished on-rails shit like the rest of the games out there.

Vanguard will be going f2p and should bring in more people. They have boosted the development team a bit.

It's still a clunky game but one of the best games out there.

The only pity is that this game will be part of the "Euro scum offloading initiative" being done by SOE as part of the ProSieben deal.

Vanguard and EQ are not part of the ProSeibenSat deal. Both stay strictly with SOE. Yes, this is a change from the original announcment.

Population has slowly gone down since 2009. Halgar is pretty much dead now. Telon is still OK if you are from the USA, but for Europe the population has reached critical values where its really hard to still find players to group with, unless you play late into the night until the US players join the game.

It's hard to enjoy a game that nobody plays. Why SOE hasn't given this game the F2P treatement is beyond me. I think it'll happen at some point and I think this will be one of the games that really benefit greatly from it. Just got to hope SOE does this soon.

It is going to happen at some point, this has already been established.

Comments like this having bashing my head against the wall,the uninformed always effect me this way.

Where have you been,not very far from your post history,i find it hard to belive that you don't know that Vanguard is going FTP.

Your second comment is a lie,plain and simple because i have been playing Vanguard non stop since beta along with other people.

If you like lore, Vanguard has tons of it, but it's hard to find. When I first played, I felt like it was really missing in the story department. It seemed like there was this vast world, tons of races, yet nothing going on in terms of story, beyond the regular quests.

Recently, I decided to get into Diplomacy and was pleased to discover that's where all the lore is hidden. Now, most of my playing has been taken up by diplomacy questing, and it's pretty good, imo.

I guess it's all in what you're looking for. I'm not big on PVP, but I love reading the fiction of the game worlds I play in, and Vanguard is really coming into it's own in that respect, for me.

I started this game 2 weeks ago. I AM IN LOVE with it!!!!!!! It is one of the largest games ive played. It is very open world. I imagine I have a good year to explore all of this game minimum. Its that large. The quests are that extreme. MMORPGs have got extremely easy. If you want something that is a bit more challenging. This is it. I am so glad i found this game.

Knowing this game was going f2p was a huge reason for me to play this game. I purchased this game 5 years ago and my computer could never handle it. My account was still intact so i decided to try an SOE pass (i play eq1 also right now, also a newb at that haha). Basically im this lil newb with a Founder title.

This game has so many races and classes and different playstyles for characters. It is truly a gem that didn't get the attention it deserved. Or people were just wanthing something easier to play at the time this released.
