Publish 22 Experience Changes
Experience is now divided among group members, rather than every group member receiving full credit for the kill.
A larger group experience bonus was implemented, to ensure that grouping is still optimal: although experience earned per kill is less, a group of players is still able to earn experience over time at a much faster rate than a solo player.
For example:
If you solo a creature then you get 6000 experience.
If I solo a creature then I get 6000 experience.
If we group and kill two creatures together, then we get 3000 experience per creature each (6000xp total), plus an additional bonus amount of experience because we are grouped (and two of us together can kill those two creatures more quickly than we could have solo'd one each).
The display of experience was altered in order to minimize the notification of individual experience grants, and emphasize the notification of group experience bonus percentages. Since individual experience grants on a per-kill basis decline as group size increases, but the group bonus percentage increases as your group-size increases, we want to place the emphasis on the increasing bonus for grouping rather than on the decreasing individual experience awards.
We hope that this clears up any confusion with the experience changes.

God damnit. That is NOT by Tiggs. SHE HAS NO FRICKIN SAY. She is the barrier between us and the Devs. THAT IS NOT FROM HER.
Im so disgusted I wasted money on this game. Just earlier I was tooting it. Within 8 hours they entirely changed my opinion. The Grind is now slower period.
I just love their double talk. They should be politicians. The amount of lies they have spread over the past 5 years is about the same as all the presidential candidates over the past 2 centuries.
My advice to everyone that hates this is to just up and quit. SOE isnt going to fix anything until their money starts going down. Hit them where it counts and cancel your accounts. They lose enough people they will be quick to fix everything.

Glad someone finally understands me. Most people think I am just a venom filled troll looking to bad mouth SOE and SWG at every corner. At least someone else finally sees SOE and SWG for what it really is.
Eventhough I willing to bet a SOE fanboi will show up to say it isnt SOE's fault and blame LA or EA Games, or even the recent war in Iraq.
Kai
Its just crazy that the Devs have literally and undisputedly no contact or relationship with their own gaming community. The general forum when last checked was 2 pages full of posts complaining about recent changes. Many threads went on for pages themselves.
People are downplaying this alot. I havent seen a single newbie such as myself post anything in praise of it. Alot of the nimrods who have full temp'd characters dont realise that over time alot of the professions they have already mastered, have also had the xp requirements upped with the last few months. The dev team disgusts me and CANNOT win me back. Unless they undo this and provide me with some sort of compensation. Its SOE so its not bloody likely!
Take it easy. And for those who still enjoy the game. Great. My comments aren't going to hurt you. SOE will eventually... again... lol
its sad, over on Kettemoor, there are so many upset people. Im sure its the same thing on every server. I just cant seem to grasp the logic in what they have done.
*shrug*
The developers of SWG are by far the worst liars I have ever come across in my 15 years of gaming. It is like they are sitting in their offices trying to come up with new lies to shove down people's throat.
They are also the most illogical group of morons I have ever encountered. They were handed. quite literally, the greatest chance in the world for an MMO. This game could have led MMOs for years. It could have set the stage for the future of MMOs. Star Wars is loved by tens of millions and yet the MMO game has 250k or less players. You gotta be a very incompetant development team to get less then 1% of the Star Wars fan base.
But they have been doing stuff like this since the beginning. So it doesnt surprise me one bit. I still remember the big patch to correct alot of huge bugs. And they were warned about bugs like an armor hole that made armor useless and factories being able to crash servers in the patch. They even replied in forums to the people reporting the bugs. Right there in the forums for everyone to read.
The patch went live with the bugs and Q came out with the greatest quote ever. "We didnt anticipate any of this." They denied ever knowing about the bugs. Even when the posts from the TC forum were linked they still out right lied to us saying it wasnt known. Q himself had replied in one TC bug thread saying they knew the bugs and were working on a fix. Then turned around and denied knowing about the bugs until after release. Even when the post was linked he still denied it and the post suddenly "disappeared" a few days later due to forum problems.
This is your SOE development team. This is what you pay for. Isnt it lovely? And remember the first rule of SOE and SWG. "Jedi will be rare".

Well, I logged on finally after all the patching fix cleared, and lost of ton of crap and credits.
But I noticed something...there was no lag whatsoever in Theed. I zoned in, looked around, and about 2/3 of the normal idiot population there spamming away....was gone.
There were no spamming messages, no Jedi, nothing.
I figured, hmm maybe this is worse than I thought.
Well, I headed out to pick up some hides off naboo that seemed to be great quality for armor, and after 8 missions I hit theed again to go check my house.
When I got there, I couldn't even call my speeder! The place was packed with spamming idiots, all crying about the XP nerf.
Yeah, I'd say people are ticked?

So we will lose the mindless grinders and Jedi wannabees.
Sounds like an improvement to me.

Isn't that 99% of the game?
Nope - but many think so.
Thats the true crux of SWG and the source of its somewhat spotty reputation.

A pure grouping system will award exactly the XP as prior this change, dividing XP is a nonsense in grouping, less peoples in group, to bad for them they will get the same amount of XP per kill, their lost. While a pure solo system would award no Bonus and divide it, rewarding solo worth, completely.
This is the middle of the road, and pedestrians usually dont walk in the middle of the road. Is SWG a pedestrian?

Well, Erillion isn't panicking so I am not going to either. Won't affect me for at least 4 months anyway with the amount of time I'm able to play.
Sorry to those of you it does affect.
They rolled back the publish, apparently they feel it may have been a mistake now.

You are still relatively new to the experience, so go and enjoy yourself. Who cares if people have differeing opinions than yours really?
The vast majority of us who were around in beta are gone now, I just got back to see what they did. Up until yesterday it *appeared* they were going in the right direction. Why they chose now to screw with the remaining player population is beyond me, but they do have funny ideas on how to bring people back
Of everybody I've known since beta, I recognize 2 now. Both come into the game very rarely.
The other thing I'm curious about is the fact that Galaxies had a high water mark of roughly 250k accounts.
The same total is being claimed now, yet I see a tremendous drop-off of population, not since this 'catch-22' publish, but since I've returned post-CU.
I just don't see it. If they have half that much they are lucky, so anybody fooled by this has no experience with the 'old' game.
Comparing WoW, a population of players in the millions, to Galaxies, a population in the 10s of thousands, you would think the developers would concentrate more on why everybody has been leaving in the first place. Anybody that told them that they left because it was too easy to level and they were getting too much experience is a freak lol.
Instead of concentrating on Smuggler and Commando, which they should have had implemented a year before release, they instead choose to waste everybody's time with this nonsense! I never cease to be amazed at how stupidly this game management has been acting.
It's not a matter of panic. It's a matter of trust, and SOE seems to me to be violating that trust at every opportunity. For many die hards this was the last straw.
But like I said, if YOU are enjoying it, more power to you! Don't try and convince any of those die-hards that it's any better, or it's worth coming back anymore, the SWG management finally went too far. Retraction or no, most of those who left this time are finally fed-up with them ignoring the real issues and trying to pull this nonsense instead, in the face of piss poor quality control and other major game play issues left untended since release.
It's their own fault.
For those new people coming in who might read this post, heck if you are a Star Wars fan and bought the Total Experience, I stand by my statement. The price and current implementation warrants the comment that the game has reached the point of adequacy. It is now at the point it should have been 2 years ago, and therefore worth the purchase.
If you have no problem playing a game replete with bugs and profession issues, then you will definitely enjoy your experience. I still recommend it to players of this attitude, and interest.

Those mundane professions are suppsoed to be quick so you can spend EVEN MORE time on the REAL professions. It took me 2-3 days to reach Master Marksman (though I actually am dropping much of it now). However, now that I have moved on to actual professions, it takes MUCH longer. Try filling up a line in a real profession during the duration of a buff. Try reaching Jedi in 2 weeks as Tiggs the Tard says.
Glad you lumped me in with that crowd there Eri.
Because I quit too
So did over half my PA

Did you mindlessly grind for Jedi ? Did half your PA ?
If you did, yes , it applies to you too. If you did not, it does not apply to you.

I think this is another instance of Jedi screwing the pooch for everyone.
My guild had a system in which a group of people grinding xp under the pre patch system could top off 3 weapons worth of xp and combat xp several times in the space of a few hours. This made teh grind to Jedi infinitly easier it was like everyday was dbl xp day. I am sure we were not the only ones that figured out ways to do this.
The system was dependent upon a large group and alot of missions. So this is another pot shot to control the rate at which people are becoming Jedi. There first salvo was the alteration of the Force Sensative Converstion rates to require the accumulation of more xp to get to Jedi. This there second salvo just makes it harder to earn that new higher total.
IN short in a game that has high turn over they increased the length of the grind to keep you in game, subscribed, and grinding longer.
