Release Notes
Above are the release notes. I'm really excited about this! The team has shifted its efforts to giving us more power over the world around us and this is the first step. Next will come the tools, such as scripting and terraforming. I really can't wait!

I wonder who submitted this...
The only There player on MMORPG.com.
Someone from Makena Technologies sent it to MMORPG.com...
The company sends the news to MMORPG.com. Its that way with any MMORPG, actually I sent an email to There earlier this month telling them about this site.
Guess it worked!

Hey, I play There.com and I play several other games, Americas Army and second life for two... Now I honestly dislike SL and I have gone over to SL on several ocasions trying to figure it out and have fun. Honestly, I think the interface of sl is horid for new members. Though on this note, I would also say There.com has it's issues as well. The great thing about there.com is its extreamly user friendly and new members are almost alway welcomed by someone waiting at the new member drop island. Now I greet people over there, not as a payed employee, but just for the fun of helping out and meeting new people. The community of There is alot more understanding and open to a wider range of people then SL. Both have there setbacks and issues... but There.com still has one thing that SL can't touch and I don't think ever will, is the quality of in game voice cababilitys, user movement and interaction with the world, and the overall kind of people you find. There has strong built communitys that truly care about the other people around them. Something I have not been able to find in my time in SL. And well, if I ever feel like taking out some agression, I just log into Americas Army, or play some paintball in There, atleast I know someone is not gonna try to screw me in the butt well im walking around...

I like There.com
But I agree that a certain level of intelligence is very helpfully to enjoy a great non violent, adult content free, creativity supporting community such as There.com. The others may find it to complex and confusing and prefer simpler exchangeable environments based on clear skilling and leveling rules.
That's great: I too sometimes enjoy playing some: "go, kill, find items, kill, trade, kill, find more items, kill, buy, kill, sell, kill, level up, kill and so on and so on ..." I enjoy the graphics and the effects and I can change providers/games just like I want because the basics in all of these games are the same. And I don't even get really bored by fighting the same monsters in the same area over and over for a few hours. Of course I have seen quite some games that claimed offering something completely new, but we all know this is about exactly the least they would intend to do, since the worn out "go, kill, find items, kill ..." thing still sells so well.
But There allows me to create my own part of the world in 3D, in peace with no level or quest pressure, allowing me to build 3D models, use my own textures and even sell my things to other players if they like them. You can't imagine how satisfying it is to see people enjoy your creations.
I like There.com.

Dude do you even bother to take the time to actually READ the posts of those who you are bashing on? I mean really, what has Joel said or done that has, in anyway, that would give There a negative review.
We all know that Joel is a avid 'Fanboy' of There, and there is nothing wrong with that. He has, however, NEVER since he has joined MMORPG.com flamed anyone or tryed to bash on them. Yet here is your first day and you are already bashing on somone for absolutly no apparent reason.
I understand that the keyboard has alot of pretty keys to hit, just try thinking next time before you hit them.
"Stupidity should be illegal" .... Daemona you have the right to remain silent, anything you type or quote can, and will be used against you in a flaming post. You have the right to logout, if you do not wish to excersize this right you are entitled to a swift boot in the ass free of charge. Do you understand these rights I have just read to you? ( please read slowly, we don't want you to hurt yourself )
I saw an angel of death come from the clouds one day, it touched my heart and smiled, then flew away, i felt my heart turn black and cold, and embraced this new power that i now hold
Thank you for the back up you two. I really appriate it, but what she is talking about goes into There's forums. Basicly my suggestions and opinions are unwanted in There. Many people in There's forums have suggested the samethings I suggest, and they were labeled as trolls and ignored as well.
They question my passion because I don't buy Tbucks which is a part of There's actual income. I suggest other ways to collect money and to better the economy, but these suggestions are viewed as mindless attention wanting ploys.
Other things have gone on. I've even been backed up by a staff member of There Inc. I have made mistakes, in There and on here. I don't know what to think of the people on There's offical forum any more. I have said sorry, i've even stopped posting on There's forums.
But they keep going at it. Again, thank you for backing me up. Oh and on the Active Worlds comment, that is old technology. Active Worlds is one of the first VR's to be used on a large scale. It was developement in the early 90's.

I'm not gonna be hostile or attack you but what is your reasoning for that post? I have not flammed you or anyone else on this site. Actually, I see hostile posts towards me and i'm friendly back. There is truly no reason to attack each other.

I love how you say you stopped posting in the official There forums like it was some noble self sacrifice on your part or something. You got moderated buddy, pure and simple. You violated the TOS and got a little spankin. Don't feel bad it's happened to me too once or twice.
The problem I have with you Joel is you post about things about There as if they are fact when in fact there is no basis in reality for whatever you are saying. Do you like drop tabs and then envision what you think it will be?
And yeah sorry if I came on strong here guys... forgot I am still a newb here... most everyone in There knows me and my posting style by now. I thought it was pretty tame actually compared to the reamings others have ripped this guy on OF.
Best Damn Guild Mistress Ever... and humble to boot!
I am also a There.com player!!!
I admint that I really like the easy learning curb and extremely fun and exiting virtual world! However, after mingling for a few months and learning more about the people in There.com I came to realize that that old saying "You should never judge a book by its' cover" is no exception in this case.
There.com has a serious problem with minors mingling with adults. No one knows how old anyone REALLY is and people stand around in places like Karuna Plaza while hosting conversations that contain sexual overtones and often blatant cursing and sexual advances that are neither moderated or reprimanded.
I have seen some avi's who claim to be 14, 15, 16, and 1 even 13 stay logged into There for several hours at a time. They are always there, always present always active doing something in the game. There.com's addictive environment can be confusing to these young "children" who have morphed into this virtual world and are unaware that they may have formed an unhealthy addiction. Their parents are probably unaware of what goes on in There and how long they are active in the community on a daily basis.
In There.com you are able to listen to music. One of the big radio stations in There is XTREME RADIO http://www.areyouxtreme.com XTREME Radio plays sexually explicit lyrics which have parental advisory notices on the album covers. What parent wants their child sitting at the computer listening to sexually explicit lyrics while mingling with adults at a virtual club?
XTREME RADIO has its' own following in THERE.com. They have t-shirts with their logo on them. They have buggies, and all sorts of items. WHen you visit their website you can even purchase a cheaply made 'real life version' of their logo merchandise.
Even when these minors use the Voice Feature where they are able to chat using their PC microphone, they themselves use curse words and sexually oriented language in conversation.
There.com claims to have a PG-13 environment. However there is nothing PG-13 about it and anyone who does not have a credit card with their own name on it should not have access to profanity, sexually suggestive conversation, or to adults who DO have their name on a credit card.
No matter what There.com says about their "PG-13" environment, the mixture of adults and children are never a good idea. Even AOL has come to their senses by adding parental control to accounts. There is no way that There.com will ever stop the adult-like conversations or stop the submission of adult-like content in their Developer Program because its' the adults who fuel their virtual ecomony and add bling bling to their Real Life bank accounts.
I suppose that once There.com is slapped with one or two lawsuits by parents who took note of these things or whose child saw one of those sexually suggestive t-shirts in the There.com auctions, that they might reconsider their PG-13 environment.
Maybe they should have a talk with those spectacular guys over at Disney who have created TOONTOWN http://www.toontown.com At least in TOONTOWN, parents are able to use a password to turn typing in bubbles on and off. Otherwise the avi (your toon) is only able to communicate using predefined chat bubbles with other avis/toons.
I for one am a parent who is disgusted with the unmoderated, reckless, andout of control content in There.com. I have submitted my complaint to the proper authorites and to the BBB as well as the California State Incorporation Commission.
Now to all you who feel like you need to post back and give me your 2 cents, remember that I am a parent and first and foremost I have my childrens interest at heart. If you are an adult you would probably understand. If you are a child/teen and you feel it neccessary to make your rebuttal public - I would first suggest that you get off the computer for a couple hours and step back into your REAL life considering that school will be starting soon (It's August you know)!

Joel,
I do not know you but I have seen what you describe at There.com on the forums and elsewhere in world. I feel that there are certain 'clicks' in There.com all built around certain moderators and memebrs who are "friends" with some moderators or staff members. I have never been moderated myself, but I have seen them stand around haing these sexually suggestive conversations and as soon as some avi walks up whom they have had conflict with in the past, they report that avi as soon as they say anything slightly offensive... then ***poof***. Once that avi disappears, they all laugh ROFL and go back to their conversation.
These are probably the same people posting and flaming you. They have multiple personalities in game and probably on the forums too. We all know that "mamacita" and "phantium" are the same person often which log in at the same time with that "back door" patch right? Oh "shhhhhhh..." don't say anything. You're not supposed to do that! But phantium claims to know the owners of There.com so maybe that's why he is still in game and not suspended for all his sexually offensive comments and profanity.
No offense phantium, just using you as an example.
If I were you Joel, I wouldn't even respond to them. They seem full of judgements about someone that they do not even know.
The staff is there to do their jobs, but that doesn't mean they can't make friends with anyone. It's a social game and you tend to make friends with the people you meet. I'm sure if you started talking to the people in what you perceive as cliques, you'd make friends with them. It's not at all hard to make friends with people and staff in There. Making friends with staff doesn't get you any special treatment, but you do get a fun new person to talk to.
