I'd like to leave this topic going, but I fear it will get political real quickly. Just giving you guys fair warning that this thread may be locked.
My definition of extremist is anyone who tells you that their way is the only way and something bad will happen to you unless you do things their way. Bad things can range from boycots through violence to telling you that God will smite you. Just my definition.
Currently bored with MMO's.
You claim not to be homophobic when you are so obviously every bit of it. "So in order to not see the gay romance blah blah blah" you know, just like gay/bi/whatever's see straight relationships going on around them every day. Obviously it's not something that interests them, but I don't remember any gay people bitching up a storm that a man and a woman are role playing holding hands. And no, people RPing couples do NOT keep it within party chat, you see that kind of thing expressed out in the open all the time. I find it cheesy and stupid, regardless of whether it's a straight or gay couple, but I find it even worse that it's something people find important enough to rage about.
And what on earth makes you think that just because there are gay relationships, suddenly people are going to be x-rated in general chat? That comes from the thinking that anyone who's not straight is a sexual deviant that can't function unless they have pornography on their mind. And we're really supposed to believe you're not anti-anything? Really?

I think a guy dating/wanting to make babies with a AI/robot should be more shocking and harder to explain your kids then a guy dating/kissing a guy or the fact you wipe out complete civilisations or the bad ending or what not that happend in the series....pfff poeple and there priorities.
It's so nice to see that your powers of clairvoyance are so strong that you can see into the future and read the minds of all those subscribers that will be playing SW:TOR once same-sex story archs are implemented.

I don't know if you play World of Warcraft or not, but there are literally THOUSANDS of members of the LGBT community playing on the Proudmoore server. One gay/gay-friendly WoW guild actually holds the world's second largest guild population.
Guess what? The server didn't go up in a cloud of brimstone and hellfire. There aren't orcs and night elves having wild sex parties in every corner of Azeroth.
Ok, hold onto your seat, because this is just going to surprise the hell out of your narrow minded ass, but they actually play the game just like everybody else! *GASP!* I know, shocker, right?
Why do people have such issues with seeing gay romances? Can it really bother them so much that other people are in love and (omg) are attracted to each other? Seriously, why care?

I think Florida Family Association is a bit confused about what is exremism.
A gay asking also his point of view to be represented as an option isn't extremist. People who ask for their point of view to be represented besides others are a part of normal democratic society. People who ask for their point of view to be the only one represented, life Florida Family Association, are extremists.
You're not a homophobic on what planet? For years and years and years, gay people have had heterosexuality "thrown in their faces." They have watched TV where all the characters were straight for years.....and movies, etc. You never heard them complaining about having heterosexualtiy "thrown in their faces." EVENTUALLY we decided to take a stand and ask to be equally represented. Why on earth would we think we deserved representation as if we're human beings just like YOU?
You COULD just learn to deal with the fact that not everyone is like you. The world is diverse, whether you like it or NOT. You're not going to change anything by throwing a hetero-chick fit over it. Bioware has always represented diversity. If you can't get behind that, perhaps you should be one of the vocal minority that quit playing their games for THAT reason (gee, most quit because SWTOR isn't a very good game, but YOU could always quit for "loftier" reasons).

What I find funny is that the people who care about it the most probably haven't even played SWTOR. There is no way you can care about particular relationships being included in the game after having played it. And Mass Effect... Dragon Age... already has all kinds of different relationships, so it's pretty well known already where BioWare stands on the issue. I thought it was pretty disrespectful of the LGBTetc... community to give BioWare such a hard time about this issue when they've probably done more for them than any other gaming company out there. Many of the comments on the forum were nothing short of entitled drivel bemoaning a betrayel more epic than Lucifer turning against Yahweh. The hysterics on both sides are pretty amusing, but watching BioWare get curbstomped by a group they support was sick.

I don't really see your point..Yes there are alot of people who speak out for Same-sex relationships in games, and it's all over the news and what not..BUT..that's because it's important.. I guess your stating that it shouldn't be a big deal..because you don't think relationships in games matter anyway..idk! and your statement about "Rarely do you see heterosexual relationship conversations going on in RP chats"..You obviously don't RP much. "Roleplay" is all about LIFE!, or death xD...anyway..Life consists of relationships, whether that be friends, or lovers. Making a "realistic fantasy" game, you would implement this. So i guess your just relationphobic..or ya know what ever they call that..but your reply is nasty none the less..Maybe we should keep our hated views to our selves

Bioware dances around the subject for weeks on end and Trion sneaks it in a patch, THEN SETS A guiness record with and noone says anything. Talk about free press for your game, especially if Fox News picks it up and runs the story.
I am totally against gay content in a video game. But, as long as I am not seeing it in game, I don't care. The first same sex option that appears in a SWTOR companion sequence will be the last log in for me. I am not a homophobe, I just don't like being subjected to content that I am opposed to.

There is not even a normal relationship btw man and woman in swtor . I excepted much more and not just a kiss with Ashara :===) Mass effect relationship is hardcore compared to SWTOR. So i don't know why people make so big deal about that

I guess forcing gay ppl to play hetero feels unnatural to them....
Wouldn´t like the opposite...to be forced to play as a gay...or a woman...since i would´t feel attached to my character.
But hey! i love the idea everyone can play their way.
As natural as real life,i see nothing wrong with it and applaud Bioware decision.

Nothing wrong with multiplayer games catering for different people with multiple walks of life. Trying to impose one's own preferences on others is selfish, short sighted and not liberal at all, I'm afraid. Live and let live. Excluding gets you nowhere.

I guess everyone is supposed to be Prince Charming marrying Cinderella, or pining away as victimized Cinderella wistfully wishing for her Prince Charming. Anything that strays from this pre-established "norm" that's force fed down everybody's throat in early childhood is just too much for some folks to handle without bursting a vessle.
