I'm amazed..i just recently (after not playing L2 and bashing it in past times) went back to it and let me tell you its so much better than when it was released.
The Bots/Farmers are being dealt with. The PvP is more imersive)They added alot of new PvP laws) ect.
Drop rates are better, On their 3rd expansion/update with alot of new cool stuff. And a 4th update on the way.
I reactivated my account and started all over again and its a blast!
Those that despised it in the past (When release was crappy), might want to go back and look at it again..You may be surprised

The bot/hack community for it is bigger then ever.
The so called dealing is a token PR front nothing more. They have yet to even cause more then a rain drop ripple in the botting community.
Its still a horrendous grind.
Its still level based pvp which boils down to Level/Gear determines the winner not skill.
The character models are still designed for young teenage boys going through puberity.
Ya Lineage 2 has changed a lot(though I like closed beta better cause no one cared about lvling and it was just having fun, I know I am weird). Lvling has gotten ten times easier, A while ago it took me 2-3 months to get to 20 with my playing style and it was in the summer also, now it took me 2 months to get 33. Though, I am quitting because all my real life friends have quit recently and I am getting bored now lol(only fun when friends play). But, trust me, Lvling has gotten easier, getting money has gotten easier, going from 1-25 is ten times easier cause of all extra stuff you get for free from the npcs, a lot more stuff to do like Seven Signs and the Festival(these are PvE, the festival of Darkness is really interesting, you get a group and join a certain lvl limit and mobs just come at and you got to see how long you survive, based on that you get a certain amount of Seal Stones which can be used for Seven Signs). Also, the necroplis and Catacombs makes it easier to lvl and get money(part of Seven Signs).

There are far more better things, updates/expansions to name them that offset your opinion above. The grind is more rewarding with better drops, specially coin. PvP? Duuuuuh..you think so??
Gear comes with the level but there is much more than meets YOUR eye.
And the teenage Boy thing...Sounds like a personnal problem to me
Your info is outdated and stems from pre chronicle 1 release. Maybe you need to go play it since then before you come here and talk about past times LOL

You could make this game 100% free and I would still not play it.
God I loved this game so much when I first started. I don't think there was a game I was more into than when I was into Lineage 2. I can still hear the music from that n00by island now. What was that island called? I loved it! I loved the dungeon it had on the north end, and I loved the fact that you could PvP but there was risk involved in being a PK.
How is the botting being dealt with? The botting and Farming (Those two groups were the main greifers, mostly PK alts of farmers to deal with people infringing on farming land) were the ONLY things me and my gf didn't like about it. Those and the ebayers I should add, which is only an extension of bot farmers I suppose.
It really was a spectacularly fun game. The grind was rough but the excitement made up for it. I am gonna do some research today, if they are really actively trying to get rid of bots then I would love to come back for another try. Lineage 2 is the only game I have ever truly hated, and hate is just really an extension of the frustrated admiration I had for it.

Last I checked which was recently since I maintain tabs on all of them. the Lineage 2 bot/hack community was among the largest.
They made one public arrest...woopdee fricking doo..one minor token arrest does not in any way shape or form indicate anything more then a token effort for PR purpose's.
A grind is a grind is a grind is a grind. It honestly does not matter how you wrap it, spruce it up or give rewards its still a grind. The grind in L2 remains worse then pretty much every game on the market. Now to me a PVE game I will not gripe too much about it although I think its absurd. But L2 is suppossed to be about PVP, you said it yourself that until you get the levels its nearly pointless. Honestly for any so called PVP oriented game to require that excessive of a period of time to get to a competative level is asanine at best.
I see you did not mention anything about the gear/level comment so obviously even you realize the problem here.
As for the character models, yes i have a problem with them. However its not because they are scantily clad, I am married its nothing I have not seen. I have a problem because its honestly the only thing that sold this pos of a game in the first place. I have a problem with it because they blatently used low poly character models except in a few specific regions indicating the obvious of what they were using to sell it with. Before you decide I am on some moral high ground here I assure you I am not, had the models been high poly as a complete model they could have been naked for all I cared. It was the specific way they did it that pissed me off.
I would love the game a lot more if it wasnt for the grind.

If they have I dont see any immediate changes...I still see the same old bot trains with the same old bots running around in ER, EF, SoDA, EG, FoS, Wastelands, AC, OB and even in the catacombs on occassions. - the list goes on.
I hope to hear more positive stuff, but seems like bots are still up to their same old tricks. I'll keep looking.
I know what you're saying. Its actually a really nice game at times.
I currently play on Teon as a scavvy, which is supposedly one of the worst affected servers from botting. I honestly can say that I haven't seen much evidence of this, though maybe I am still a bit wet behind the ears
But the grind..I guess I just need to get involved with a decent clan to make it more bearable.

Well another reply to my post said that, while the bots haven't really been weeded out, they have mostly moved on to higher level areas so it won't affect noobs as much. I am seriously considering playing again as my work computer can actually handle it. So instead of posting here ad nauseam I can grind those dull hours away between having to deal with business matters/calls (which will probably please many a troll on this site

Is Teon a new server? I don't remember that name. Also, how populated is it?
But but, if you want to pwn you have to pwn in Lineage 2 also
Teon is the official 'Euro' server, although its roughly split 50/50 US/EU.
Many people started anew on Teon to avoid dramas from their old server ; it has quite a relaxed attitude.
High lvl politics between clans are slowly appearing more and more now though. The sieges are in GMT +1 time, however.
Its often hinted at being the joint 2nd most populated server behind Bartz. The majority of people who rerolled on Teon are satisfied with their decision, one way or another.
Skill cannot decide a match with rpg combat. There's no skill involved. For skill to matter, you need fps (for actiony games, like most mmos are).

Well I have to say that windsoul was completely correct. I downloaded the client for Lineage 2 today at work and patched it up. The entire process took less than 3 hours!
When windsoul said Lineage 2 is improved he was SOO right! From the opening screen, to the patcher and into the game, they have spiced this puppy up TONS.
I started a new character on Erica as my old server Bartz said FULL and I just ain't into that. So erica was medium and 68 ping which is decent enough so off I went. My characters name is Vans on Erica.
First off, there is a tutorial now for new players, and it rocks! The UI has been revamped and is way more user friendly and just downright attractive. And the main thing I always wanted in Lineage 2....QUESTS! There is a n00by quest the second you get in the game, and then there is a quest on basically every NPC you meet thereafter.
I made an Orc fighter as I had never been one before (gf didn't want me to be an orc lol chicks) and the n00by orc town is great to look at. They set you off right away with a quest where you start, and then you run up to the town and the n00by guide gives you another quest. Once you get to level 5 or 6 I think it is you get more quests lol I had 4 active quests going..in Lineage 2! When an NPC has a quest for you they have a yellow exclamation point over their head a la WoW which I appreciate and I could care less they stole the Idea from WoW hehe I'm sure WoW stole it from somewhere else.
Anyways, I spent 6 hours playing today and I got to level 8 and it was a blast. Can't wait to go home and play it on the good computer. Thanks windsoul for this thread, I loved Lineage 2 about 7 months ago and with Chronicle 3 out now and all the extra pizzazz they have added it's well worth it.
While I might get discouraged later if there are still a ton of farming griefers, at least I have a month or two of playing without them. I like being a n00by again.

I just can't get into Lineage 2 for some reason. As soon as I logged on for the first time it made me feel like I was playing a game where the only thing to do was kill kill kill. Maybe it's a little different now but from what i've seen not much has changed.
Yeah, it's pretty much kill kill kill lol, but now there's quests
I kinda like a game with low drop rates that is hard to level though, call me a masochist if you must, but I like a challenge. And Satan will deal with the botters

And ya, I agree. I don't mind if the game is hard leveling as long as the drop rates are decent. I found that the drop rates are really low in Lineage 2 though. I might give it another try later on since I heard they made the game a little easier and made the drop rates higher, it might be a while though especially with all these new games coming out soon
