Game of Thrones is back!

Anybody here following this series? Season 2 has just started in America.

10 years ago I didn't believe epic fantasy could be done well in movies, before Lord of the Rings fantasy movies were sparse and most of them comical or  plain bad. But Lord of the Rings and maybe current tech has shown quite a lot fantasy movies after LotR.

I also believed a long time that tv series simply wouldn't be able to do epic fantasy literature like Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire justice.

But damn, Game of Thrones is one fine tv series, one of the better ones around at the moment. To everyone who's saying that movies and tv have deteriorated compared to how it was 20 years and longer ago, I just point to series like Game of Thrones.

So, to those who've caught up on the latest GoT episodes, what are your impressions so far of seasons 1 and the first season 2 episodes?

Peter Dinklage, man.  That guy just does it all.....haha.

But in all seriousness, they cast this very well, as the show immerses me completely each episode.  As for sets, those are just completely off the wall...which just to mention, look at the Wall itself.  Damn impressive.

It is the acting and dialogue though, that keeps me coming back altogether.  I didn't ever imagine that the dialogue I liked so much in the books would be so much better on the screen!

My blog is a continuing story of what MMO's should be like.

Yes, episode 2.Was pretty slow, no action at all but I guess they have to set up alot of characters storylines and add more like Stannis Barathion's crew and Theon Greyjoy's father and sister.

Yeah, that's what has me worried about this show - the budget.

If you've ever heard of/seen the HBO series Rome that too had an amazing set.. but sadly due to the budget being so expensive they had to cancel the show just two seasons in. So hopefully the budget doesn't screw it up for this Game of Thrones. :(

It's a damn shame, too. That show was so well done and I'd argue is almost on the same level as Game of Thrones. Definitely check it out if you haven't!

As a Dane myself im curious to know how Nikolai Coster-Waldau does in his role? Show hasn't aired in Denmark but first episode season 1 comes here on saturday. Sadly on a channel infested with commercial breaks I hate those.

He is pretty good. Hardly any accent at all. I'm glad I found "other means" to watch the show than on danish television. We are always at least 1 season behind everybody else
