SWG Players time to ban together

kaibigan34kaibigan34 Member Posts: 1,508

Along time ago the wookies in the game had serious issues. They needed armor and badly. The wookies began a campaign and after several news stories and a sit in they got their armor.

Its time to clean up SWG. We need to ban together. All the former and current players out there that are tired of SOE and thier quick trigger finger on illogical patches. If you want change then lets do this.

But how should we go about it? Any ideas?

1) Write up a list of things that need attention and have been ignored so long? (xp nerf will be part of this list)

2) Get every current and former SWG player we know to send in emails to gaming sites and magazines to do stories?

3) Shove this down SOE's throat by sending in feedback, forum posts (without spamming), submitting CS tickets and bug reports everyday?

Cant think of any other ideas. Anyone else? We can make a change if we try. We all ban together and get everyone we know to do so also and we can make a serious change.

SoE doesn't care what you do, as long as you pay that monthly subscription fee.

SoE Accounting Dept. don't judge the health of the game (how much profit it makes) by counting the forum posts, they judge it by counting active subscriptions (dollars earned per month).

How many active subscriptions does SWG have ? Only SoE knows that for sure, but it's probably more than 100,000 without a doubt. How many people visit the forums, and of those, how many actually post ? Perhaps 1000 posts per day ? I doubt it's even that much.

So 100,000+ active subscribers, with 1000 angry posters (often the same posters) in the forums every day ? SoE looks at that and says: "Hey, we're doing great ! Only 1% of our playerbase is unhappy ! Let's roll out that next XP nerf, the players must love them !"

Oh yeah, your example of player action starts with "A long time ago...". Recent events suggest that player actions no longer have any effect. And nowadays, a "Sit-in" will get you banned very quickly for "negatively affecting other players' game experience".

Nevertheless, I wish you good luck, and genuinely hope that you achieve some success. I have given up all hope, my subscriptions are cancelled.

    1) It's been done. Again and again and again. How long has DE been broken now? SOE just doesn't care, plain and simple.

    2) Unfortunately most "reputable" (read: big name) gaming sites are too deep in the pockets of the game companies to write anything truly negative about a game. Game publishers generally punish sites who write really scathing reviews with a loss of "exclusives" and "previews". Any game review site that has enough readership to make a difference would never post the truth.

    3) Same as #1. It's been done. For the CU, most recently. SOE just covers their eyes and ears and tells everyone that everything is going fine, the majority of the players don't post in the forums because they're too busy happily playing the game (no joke, that's what they actually said a year or so ago). Then they send their forum goons out to cleanse the boards of negative feedback. If it gets really bad, they'll lock the forums back to registered-only mode again to hide the truth from non-subscribers.

Yet wookies got armor. Because a well armed group of protesters hit SOE on all sides. And yes you will get banned for sit-ins but it wasnt just the sit in that got em wookie armor. They got alot of sites behind them as well. They did alot of forum mining on other SWG forums. They forced the issue.

Gaming sites want money just like everyone else. If enough people start sending in info then you can bet they will write a bad review even if it means losing the company. Gamespy and SWG were perfect examples. Remember the holocron and jedi review? Cost Gamespy SWG but they wrote it anyway.

They dont control all the forums. They cant say what happens on every forum. And if you scream loud enough they will listen. Just with SOE you gotta scream like a raid group of banshees after a night of partying to be heard.

Also boycott their products. This is something I do. Not just me. But I hang out at a game store. And everytime I see someone about to pick up a SWG box I talk them out of it. The game store owner has no problem with it since I recommend other items instead. Free salesman for him.

Expand that to anything with a SOE label. If each one of us got just 10 people a month to not buy a SOE product either by telling people online or in stores, what do you think would happen then?

EDIT: This was a reply to your second post, not your last one... I'll get to that later :)

I hope you aren't taking my post personally. But, did you see the outcry over the CU? Did that make one cent worth of difference? The protests, the forum threads, the bug reports, the sending letters to LA, to SOE executives, to game magazines - we've done this dance before, and it didn't change a thing. If it was any other company it might do something. But not SOE.

I applaud the people who are still trying to make a difference in the game. Or at least, I admire their conviction. I did my part with the well-reasoned forum posts and the bug reports. But if SOE has proved one thing to me in the past 2 years of playing this game, it's that they don't care what their players think.

Boycott SOE. Never buy another product until they straighten up. Hit em where it hurts.

Get others to do this as well.

Talk people out of buying SOE products.

If enough people do it then something will have to change or SOE can consider themselves gone.

If we could get a lot of people together to let SOE know something needs to be done it would still be a challenge as loads of people have left the game for different reasons, i mean there are people who have left the game because of the CU, too many jedi and the recent thing with the XP.

If people came together there would be conflicts over people liking the CU but hating jedi and people hating the CU and liking jedi. there are a lot of ways this happen. Not sure how many people have left the game but lets say 50,000 that will be divided into 3 groups minimum with peoples ideas of a good SWG.

The only way i can see SOE getting more people interested in the game again is having different types of servers.......

    Combat Upgrade & Jedi

    Combat Upgrade & No Jedi

    No Combat Upgrade & Jedi

No Combat Upgrade & No Jedi

Not sure how many combinations there are but i'm sure there are more. If SOE did make servers with these options i'm sure they would get a lot more people.

SOE knows whats wrong. They arent stupid. I think they are lazy and dont want to bring alot of people back.

I didnt get to really examine the CU but from what I saw its more a "Dummies guide to PVP in SWG" kinda thing. I dont know if it makes balancing better or not. But I do know that the old system could have been balanced if they would have just sat down and crunched the numbers. But that would mean having to work.

Also the whole jedi thing. I know alot of players left because of that. And if they would create no-jedi servers I am certain (my opinion) that they would get at least another 50k players back.

According to the chart there are 250k players at last update. Compared to the original 350k at release and the fact that alot of the 250k are multiple account holders. Also add in some of the 250k as new players I am willing to bet they lost 100% or around 250k players. Of course this is also an assumption based on the fact that none of the vets on my old server I remember are seen anymore.

If no-jedi servers would bring back 50k+ players then do it. If balancing the old system then replacing the CU would bring back 50K+ then do it. And so on.

But I dont think SOE wants to do it. They have to give their money to the top and get paid from the top. They are getting paid as long as they make their quota. So dont encourage the quota to get any bigger by getting more subscribers. Keep it around 250k so they dont have to do alot of work compared to if they had 1 million subscribers.

I agree! I'm tired of all the Jedi, even though I was one at one time.
