Also! Will the game be populated in europe or will most servers be staying on low?
Also.. Again!
Uhm, if I pre-ordered the game, when does open beta start for the EU servers?
And is the game smooth and have similar gameplay and feeling to wow?
Or has it got the same feeling as Aion?
Comments
game world is fully seamless, and open. you can just ride from one area into another, without any zoning. you can use teleports, or ride a flying pegassus as well for faster traveling. game world is Huge
there are instanced dungeons.
Euro Beta servers are always packed with people.
Indeed!
i run the game with an average pc, and can run the game with max graphic settings. hardly get any lag, sometimes i get lag spikes when i go to Velika (that city is usually packed with tons of people) also has lots of graphic details.
Tera may have things that could remind you of Aion. but gameplay wise are totally different games. Aion was a typical asian grind paradise. graphic wise is also superior than Aion.
Leveling in Tera goes very fast. is very similar to wow when it comes to leveling.
many people hate the Questing in Tera, cause according to them, is the same generic, old school wow quest system. so that seems to be the biggest downside of Tera. i dont mind old school questing personally.
i suggest you to play the game, with a friend or 2. grouping in Tera is simply alot of fun.
- The world is huge, but have channels at least in inicial territorys (some may considered this break the seamless feeling)
- About population we can only know after release, right?
- Open beta next week
- Sorry, no idea about ur feelings.
It's nothing like wow in terms of combat. It's more like Aion in how you can "feel" the combat, when you hit something you really feel like you hit something. Animations are top notch.
Different from both is free directional/aimed attacks. If you're an Archer and you're crosshair is not on your target the arrow follows that direction missing the mob. If your melee you attack in the direction of the mob or swing at air. Mobs are like this too though so if you can get out of the way you'll take no damage or glancing damage at the most.
Every class has basic attacks that cost no MP and actually gain it for you in most cases. When you first start playing it can seem really boring to have only two abilities starting out but it's getting you used to moving and using dodge/block abities if your class has them. Once you gain a few levels you'll get more to play with and like Aion certain ones are chained together. Not like Aion you can make your own chains.
The combat is very different from tab targeting. You still get skills but baring AoE or some homing spells they fire off where you tell them to. IMO it's lightyears beyond tab target but some don't like that.
Is this what you meant by gameplay? If not let me know.
Just not worth my time anymore.
I would not say TERA has the same gameplay feelings like Aion or WoW OR even any other MMO.
TERA.... has gameplay...
like TERA.
Enough said.

i love the Channels. there is nothing more annoying than having to wait 4 hours untill a boss mob respawn. you can simply switch to a less crowded channel and kill the boss you need.!p
is also very handy for soloers, who prefer to be alone in a particular area, where noone else can bother them
Don't know of anyone who's playing
Will just meet people in game and group with them ^-^ Love meeting new people
i've met tons of people during the betas. my friend list is huge lol. then again im a social butterfly!p
i went to an open world dungeon, around the pirate grotto area, with a group of very nice people. we had a blast ,at the end, we all ended up adding each other into friend lists!p
So it's kinda like SWTOR's instances? CAn switch between 'channels' but every channel has a bunch of players on it
yes is exactly like in Swtor. i always found tons of people in every channel. sometimes when i'm in an area that is getting way too crowded, i switch channels. specially if i need to kill a boss, instead of waiting for a respawn , i go find it in another channel. and voila , kill it and quest done!p
in Swtor i was lucky to bump into another player, every 2 or 4 hours lol.
EME you are killing me!

I have to correct this, just for the sake of general knowledge. The oldest game I can think back which is 3d and has action combat like TERA and is a true MMO would be Risk Your Life, its an Asian game released back in 2004 (in the west, 2003 in Asia). It basicly had the same combat, was open world, had the pvp and was in general a pretty awesome game and quite different from what was known at the time.
same for me. i honestly can care less about the combat, or quests, or pvp. there is a huge and gorgeous world for me to explore!p the grouping experience in Tera, reminds me so much of EQ1 old days, i love it.
channels are only in the early levels , later u will have not that much channels until u only have one channel ...

It's got the same feeling as Aion, if you remember the first 10 levels of Aion and play through the first 10 of Tera they will feel very similar.
As for combat it's a little faster than Aion, with a dodge mechanic and you have to aim at mob(s), much better though I wish it was just a little faster but that's fine ;p
Remember... all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.
I like this info
And someone knows if channels are dynamic?
I mean, channel get available acording to the number of players connected to that territory in that server.
I think this make sense, have been done in other games, if population is low in that certain territory, why the existence of channels?
yes they open new channels based on how crowded they get. not sure what is the cap on it though.
Sounds like the same zone/channel system TOR used.
TOR had the balance way off though, my experience in Tera beta points to that they can have a lot more players per channel, which is a very good thing IMO if you are doing a system like this.
Actually that's not true at all.
If anything, Tera and Aion are in the same family as they both have quests and you get quest xp. Considering that I made it to lvl 30 in Aion's beta in two days of no life playing, with a cap of 50, I think Aion is anything but a Korean grinder.
Lineage, Lineage 2, Archeage... those are Korean grinders.
Also, at the moment, Aion has more content/things to do, than Tera but it is my hope that Tera does well enough so that is is a viable game in the long term.

oh i was refering leveling speed wise. i heard they made leveling a bit easier in Aion recently. i played the game when it took you ages to level. and at some point you had no quests left, so you needed to grind to level.
also remember tons and tons of Bots running their grinding Macros in every pve Area. constant gold farmer spamming General chat, offering their gold servers, and powerlevel services.
Not to split hairs but Korean grinders made Aion at launch look like WoW. As it is now.
Korean Grinders don't realy have many quests, you really don't get a lot of xp at all (if any) and the whole idea is that you log in, go to a field, dungeon, etc, and grind until pvp happens or you go to a city or log off.
In a Korean grinder, at high levels, you can expect to kill 4 or 5 mobs for .01% xp .
I realize some people feel the leveling in Aion was harsh but compared to an actual Korean grinder it was easy peezy lemon squeezy.
Now, to your poiint, Tera is beyond easy to level, even compared to Aion. It's a bit of a worry because i wonder how many people are going to hit cap in a week. Since I took the week off I imagine I will.

compared to games like lineage 2, even Aion was easy cake!p i heard it could literally take you rl years to get to max level there.
oh i woulden't worry about the leveling in tera. as long they back that up with enough end content, we gonna be fine. im being optimistic, so crossing my fingers. it won't end up like another Swtor!p
In relation to Aion. I love Aion. It was the mist memorable MMO experience I've had since EQ. as it stands right now IMO there is a hard level grind between 45-55. Of course like Soverath said it's not like made for f2p MMOs but it's still steeper than, say, WoW which could be a plus in your book. The great thing about Aion is that it requires a bit of skill timing to be "firing on all cylinders", which to me is fun. TERA takes that same timing aspect and makes it x10 better IMO.
Just not worth my time anymore.
one of my most fond gaming experiences, were getting ganked, or getting one shot in Aion!p then getting pissed and taking out my frustration on hubby lol.
