I dont feel like its that big of an issue. They are not getting something that you can't get. Its only $15 afterall. On top of that, Bioware is trying to bring back old players to bolster the population and all your doing is trying to hurt that.
You achieve nothing with this (not like it would get that large of a following anyway).
What your doing is childish. I dont care if you play slow and didnt get to 50. Whining about how someone is getting a month sub that you are not getting is immature. Now if they were getting something that is impossible for you to get then I understand.
OP: you clearly don't get why they give lvl 50s free month. It's pretty simple, there's not too much to do when you hit lvl 50. Just lots of bugs and excuses. On the other hand the progress lvl 1-50 is pretty much perfect. So if you dont have lvl 50, you are not affected by that and you don't need free month as a compensation. And frankly, you can do lvl 50 in a week.
Even if you were only spending 4 hours a week you should still have a 50 already. I mean, you would have to actively try not to level, which is difficult to do since there isnt much to do aside from combat.
It only takes about 30-40 hours to get a character to 50 (if you took your time, I personally found it much quicker after my first character by just grinding flashpoints) and the game has been out for like 4 months now.
Throwing in the 'real life' card is a bit lame too. I work and only get 10-12 hours a week or so for gaming, and I still managed to get 4 level 50s before I quit 2 months after launch. As others have said, if you havent been stuck at level 50 with nothing to do, the promotion isnt really for you anyway.
Honestly, I was going to probably drop the sub anyways, since I plan on playing Tera however this really was a dumb arse move and a slap in my face.
I actually have a level 47 Commando that I stopped playing a few weeks ago to reroll an Imperial Operative (level 19) and like others have said, apparently my money isn't as good since I "failed" to get a character to level 50.
I cancelled my account just now stating this was one of main reasons for me leaving and probably no chance now of encouraging me to come back, regardless what they do in the future.
Too many new MMO's coming out this year for me to bother with a firm that fails to understand their customer base this badly.

Can you please explain to me how I can get the free $15 without getting a char to level 50 today?

So a guy pre-orders, plays from head start, hears the horrors of the game at level 50 and takes his time.
He levels main and alts to level 49 prefering not to indulge in the craptastic im-balance that is Huttball at lvl 50 after the valor exploits that went un-punished.
Instead he waits patiently building his legacy ready for the 'joys' of 1.2.

Really? Great attitude! So because I chose to have fun with my main...explore all the nooks and crannies (something Bioware stated would be 'rewarding') etc - and still managed to rack up 10 days /played on him - while only getting to 46 - I'm less of a value?
This, along with the 'undocumented' changes (slicing re-nerf anyone?) is enough for me. While I still enjoy the game, I don't appreciate these changes - and so am voting with my wallet as well. My sub runs out in 10 days - as of now it's cancelled, next move is Biowares'.

No where was I told if I got a char to level 50 I would get a free month. Bioware just jumped up and said "Hey, we dont value your $15 a month like we do the $15 we get from others". Seriously, how is my choice of playstyle less worth than yours because you hit 50? If this was announced and people were given 30 days to hit 50, I'd be ok since I actually had a shot but thats not what happened.
I didnt have a choice. I did not do anything wrong. I paid the same amount of money as others. Why should I be singled out?

Jesus all I hear is a bunch of crying for a game that's a lost cause anyway.
Be glad they are doing something that -might- get a few players back into this unpopulated wasteland of a game. You just might have some people to play with for at least a month. Don't worry though, most of us are smart enough to know the new patch is just a bunch of smoke being puffed up our asses anyway, and won't bite the bait.
I thought it was a joke when I first read this, but after letting it set in a few hours It dosnt really seem all that unreal. Even so, giving players a free month only to players who have reached level 50 seems really strange indeed. Most the time mmos give free time only for players who have subscribed for a certain amount of months or similar things, but giving free time for anythhing done in game by players Iv never heard of.
I was on a low population server and stopped leveling my main at 45. From there I only did warzone at peak times and reached lvl 48. Because of the low population I never really attempted to get all the way to 50. I have many alts between the levels 15-30 among many servers with absolute no concern to reach peak level.
Strange and stupid move IMO to only give level 50's a free month but atlas I don't care. I already canceled my sub and was hoping leagacy would change my mind but it just didn't hit it for me. I'm getting tired of devs just not understanding what the players want... but I guess out of fairness, we don't even know what we want.

Yah being lvl 48 would kinda piss me off not getting to 50 in these cercumstances.
I look at SWTOR from the perspective, at least it wasnt given to cryptic or SOE. I think the game would have been alot worse. Be thankfull we got a AAA release by a competent developer, even if its not made with the best graphics engine or designed the greatest. At least we got something that is worth the time and cost of playing through story arcs of different factions which was very fun.

Lol, we're not on the same planet.
Bioware lost any respect they ever had with this game. EA was voted worst Company in USA.
All I've seen from both is incompetence and bad decisions.
Seriously, just because I play differently than you and did not get a char to 50 does not mean I am less of a customer. I have a wife, kids, a job and am working on my masters. I would love to have 20 hours a week to play but I dont. I also like to read the mission text and actually listen to the voiceovers in the game. I admire the artwork and take screenshots and send it to friends. Just because I didnt hit 50 does not mean I am less of a player.
No offense, but if you haven't hit 50 by now, you kinda are less of a player. I have a friend who only gets to play about an hour and a half a night, and he's got a 50. He only gets to play about 10 hours per week.
Bioware is doing something that is unheard of with this free month, and yet there are still people whining about it because they (inexpicably) couldn't focus enough to do something that can be done without much effort.
I would recommend you go play GW2, where achievement and progression mean nothing.
Seems pretty logical to me. It also seems logical that they would offer an incentive to level 50s that have dropped the game, because a common theme I've seen in various forums, is that level 50 players have left because of various reasons, but one of them was end game issues. Since 1.2, they will hope that it provided enough changes to the game to entice them back.
It also makes good business sense. You entice people who aren't participating in something.
- The army gives a lot of incentives to people who want to join, and not to everyone who is in.
- banks used to give out gifts to people who opened a new account, not to everyone who already had one.
There are many more examples that I could think of. In Almost every example I could think of, I would guarantee there is a certain percentage of people who get upset about it, how they react, probably has many guises.
I understand the logic they are using, so I accept it. I'm probably in your camp, thinking that this is BS. However, since I see their logic, I choose to accept it. There are larger issues I'd be willing to fall on my sword for, this just isnt one of them. For hose who it is a big deal, I certainly don't fault you.
Not getting to 50 is fairly hard to do. You have to play hardly at all or make 8 characters and try to level them evenly. If you have a lvl 50 then it is obvious you have put in a moderate amount of time enjoying the game.
I do feel for those that didn't get the game at launch and barely missed out.
This outrage has nothing to do with EA/BW it just rage against marketing. If CCP gave 1 month/ PLEX to all pod pilots with 20mil SP or more there would be just the same rage.

Duh, what are people missing here?
Regardless of what level you are, someone without a level 50 may have bought collectors edition and played since head start, have 5 level 49's and invested more effort, time and money in the game than someone who hit 50 in a month.
If you think level 50 is an achievement in this game you are deluded. It can be done in 2 weeks, with ease.
That just isn't the point.
Who do you REALLY think they value more? The guy who spent all that money, or the one who did level 50 in a fortnight?
EDIT: answer is neither, they don't give a shit about any of you on a personal level, obviously.
You are right that Bioware is doing something unheard of though.
Discriminating against the very players that they need to keep this game going.
Keep in mind though this only applies to people who had an active sub running when the patch came out. This will not apply to people who have a level 50 and had already quit the game. Hey free time is good, but in my opinion they should have just given everyone that had an active sub some free time. Why discriminate? I know, I know, like I've said there is nothing to do at 50, but if you are bored, what does another month give you?
As far as people who have been playing for a while and do not have a level 50, calling them a 'lesser player' like I saw in a previous post is going a bit too far. None of my business how they play the game, but if they have ponied up the same amount of money as a dude with five 50's, they should get free time too.
I'd love to see the responses from the 50's if this was reversed, let's say, a free month for those under 50 so they could catch up.
Rofl!
The MMO community is pathetic and toxic, it's all about 'ME' and screw everyone else. Instead of urging Bioware to do the same for your brethren, you're cut throat about it and tell them to stop whining! Hah!
Rofl, so sad. So very sad.

I'd have to agree with you. I have a level 48 and a 43 and just stopped playing them because I prefered to PvP with alts. I was never in a hurry to get to 50 - I don't raid nor was I ready to start the lvl 50 pvp grind. I've got so many alts between the levels of 15-30 on different servers. Not everyone wants to reach peak level, I never had a reason to.

This outrage has nothing to do with EA/BW it just rage against marketing. If CCP gave 1 month/ PLEX to all pod pilots with 20mil SP or more there would be just the same rage.
Sith: Time to rage!
Wow, just wow lol.
*grabs popcorn...*
