Ok I tried Asherons Call 2 in a free trial, I liked it but I thought it was somewhat lacking. Now they've released an expansion which you are able to try for 15 days. Is there much addition for the new player to try out in this expansion, or is it generally based at higher levels?

Personally, I don't think that the servers will be shut down anytime soon. But I do question how much of a live team is left to produce updates with. But we shall see. It's still a fun game.
ah thanks for replies. Its a shame it has low pops I thought it was pretty decent game.
Oh, believe me, I think ac2 is a great game. It just hasn't gotten the support it deserves. And it has also left a bad taste in people's mouths who played it way back in the days of Microsoft. (though to be fair Microsoft can't be blamed for every problem and bad decision made with the game...or can it?
If you look at everything done after Turbine bought the game then you can say without a doubt Microsoft was not to blame for all the changes. Turbine coded it and Turbine made the mistakes. AC2 is just a big grind with a KvK that is still broken, other than that there just isn't anything to do but grind in the game.
Ok you can craft but you must admit it is one of the worse crafting engines done in any game.

The game is not going to be closing soon. They just added some new content this month and are fixing some bugs in a few days. The only thing RUMORED is that there may not be any new updates for a long time or ever. Turbine might only be doing bug fixes for AC2 for the time being.
There could be hope for more players in AC2 and AC1 when Turbine releases DDO and LotRO if they wise up. They could finally add a Station Access type program like Sony has for all of their games. I would pay a joint fee of $20 a month for AC1, AC2, DDO, and LotRO. Right now players have to subscribe to AC1 and AC2 seperately.

The content added this last month was stuff they were working on during the expansion that never made it in. So actually this was more of the expansion they have been working on. I think if the game wasn't going to be shutting down Ramen would have stated that in the thread on community site. She ignored it, and you also have to know the players have already been warned to expect bad news in October or November. I wonder what else that bad news could be? Maybe something like the game will be shutting down in 6 months? By the way Jolt is very unhappy and wants to close the EU servers.

I don't see AC2 going anywhere with DDO and LotRO looming ahead. Maybe after they have the players secured there but not until then.
Ramen doesn't respond to a lot of things on the forums because it is redundant, it's better to say nothing, she hasn't seen it, or she just isn't around.
I didn't see the message about bad news, I bet almost anything it will be that they are infact closing the European servers, going to be stopping the updates, and or consildating the servers to one. Horizons, Neocron, and other games are still kicking with less players and less funding, I believe Turbine can and will keep AC2 going for some time.
To nomadian, if you thought the game was good and had no problems in the 15 day trial, you should play. There are enough players around once you level up, which doesn't even take that long if you get a patron to guide you. It is the same with any older games, there are few low level players since everyone plays on their existing higher level characters.
Well, it is my opinion that there were a lot fewer mistakes made after Microsoft was out of the picture and done calling the shots. I have been playing the game since release and know that I have enjoyed the progress of the game more post MS. Buut then again, I could just be bitter towards them because of the crappy support and chat system they gave ac2. I believe they were going to shut the game down before Turbine bought the license back.
And, actually, I kind of like the craft system in the game. I think there is decent customizability in effects of crafted items. My only real beef is the fact that you can't change the type of armor/weapon model per effect. You get the model that matches the spell effect.
KvK. Hah, that has always been an afterthought. I can't believe anything other than that. I mean, I can't imagine that it was anything else with such a flimsy KvK system put in. But I never cared about the KvK system anyway, so it doesn't bother me. I just feel bad for those who came to play expecting some great dynamic in that respect.
Nonetheless, this is all my opinion and I cannot sit here and say that mine is any better than anyone elses. I just can't win that argument.

KvK is better since the most recent patch now that you can become a full time pk. Still needs work, but everything except KvK is very good. The grind isn't bad with all the quests they have now.
I'm thinking about getting the expansion and just starting COMPLETELY fresh on DT. I want to try it completely on my own, with no help from other players (buffs and what not) and no help from my own other characters.
I'll give it a shot, no harm in it
