Dark & Light shows off its darker side today with two new images of the game. The first shows off several character models, including some highly detailed garments on one, and the second a very ominous looking house.
Thank you to the team for sending these in!

Are these lower res pictures? Noticed some of the textures for armor looked a little less detailed and sorta muddy-er looking than every other screenshot I have seen.

What's so odd about this game is that the screenshots seem to have progressively gotten worse the further and further the development has gone. Why say this? Well one example is this:

This game look better 2 years ago. Hell it was supposed to be released over 2 years ago....but hey I'm not diss'n it again. I'm just as interested as the people who "really are interested" in the outcome of this project.
Thoses SS (especially the one in the camp) kinda look bad, the legs of the sitting warrior, the texture of the skin (especially the half nakked chick on the right) and the lead looking - too close to the skin - plate of the guy lying down.
I don't know if it's low SS, but it sorta reminds me of shadowbane looks, and it was quite terrible.
I h ave no clue on how a game which has crappy textures will survive with stuff like potbs, D&D online, lotro and such who have quite impressive graphics and content.
Maybe a video from dark n light would fix it more or less, but thoses static screens don't bring anything but serious doubt to me, hell, even horizon looked as good as that, and it was quite the worse crappy looking game i ever seen.
You're a Hardcore Survivor!
You not only survived the zombie apocalypse, but did it with style! Your mastery of zombie knowledge, survival tactics, and weaponry is nearly unmatched. Congratulations, for you are hardcore!
Those have to be low-rez. or taken on a pc with the settings down. If you notice the character on the left is a bit more detailed, and those in the back are less, even further back the town looks blocky.
I hope my instincts are correct, this game sounds very promising, then again I was promised a horse at 8....
Game looks fairly average. MMORPG.com didnt seem impressed at the e3 showing either. Having said that, its one of few mmorpgs im looking forward to.

I am the flipside of the coin on which the troll and the fanboy are but one side.
I wonder if the guy with his hand to his forehead is depressed because someone stole his favorite shirt. The other shirtless fellow looks like his seat is very uncomfortable... In fact, the posing looks really "stiff" all around.
I am not exactly sure how to put this, but I have come to the conclusion that I would rather play a game with old or bad graphics as long as the software performs well and the gameplay is good than to play a game where the graphics are top notch as long as I don't try to move or actually play, or where the graphics are beautiful but not enough to keep me from getting bored. The graphics here are tolerable to my very low standards. Now if there is just a decent game to go with it...

This is where I draw the line: __________________.
With the serious lack of clothing in that first image, I really don't want to think about was was going on!
As for the apparent drop in graphic quality? One reason could be that in the early stages it's all preview stuff. Set up to look really good and run fairly well on top-end systems. Then, as development continues and more players get added to the alpha/beta tests they realise that the performance is terrible, player's computers can't handle it or the server is lagging out. If you have to sacrifice something, fancy graphic detail is the most obvious choice.
The other reason could be that a lof of D&L shots are taken by the players themselves, and these pictures could be from someone running it on lower settings.
The content is what is impressive about DNL. Thats always what it will be like. A game 20 times larger than SWG, the largest MMORPG in retail... and not instanced with high viewing distance isn't going to have the best graphics. Everyone will be on one server so content is very very important to DNL and thats why it's most anticipated.
