It's my thoughts about the game now that I played the tutorial.
Well, let me start off by saying that I will continue playing this as soon as my copy comes in on the post, the universe is large and explorable and theres a working economy (Which as a marker whore I love)
So, it's very hard. It took me about 3-4 hours to get used to the interface (just kinda looking around at different things) and I'm SURE I still don't know half of it yet, most of the quests took me only a few minutes but then there comes a quest where I have no clue what I'm supposed to do and when I figure it out I almost burst into a dance. A very rewarding game, makes me joyfull when I figure something out, the tutorials are pretty great too if annoying sometimes.
I just hope the community is good when I actually get really into the game after getting through some more questing and learning how the whole thing works.
So, as a new player I love it, it's space, it's cruel and it's unforgiving which are all traits that I enjoy.
If any of you guys would like to add me ingame, my name is Jack BeSwift and we can talk, you can tutor me on things I don't understand if you want to, anything like that would be appreciated.

Glad you're getting settled in.
As far as the community goes, I would strongly suggest you not take the official forums as a representation of the community as a whole. Over the last couple years it has gotten pretty nasty in there sometimes - as most forums do.
I would also HIGHLY suggest you look at the official forums under Alliance and Corporation Recruitment Center and look for corps taking new players. Find one with preferably 30+ members and make sure they are active in your time zone. You could also put up a post saying you're new and looking for a corporation to learn and grow with - and there are plenty of them around. 9 times out of 10 they are helpful and very generous. Just make sure they are 30+ members and in your time zone.
EVE is a game that takes a while to learn and ever longer to master, but is very rewarding and is definitely not your run of the mill experience.
Also - don't be a afraid to make mistakes - us vets can all remember mistakes that literally almost put us back at square one (not skillpoints wise though! update your clone!)

Great advice from Aesper.
Seconded.
And props for making it past the initial UI challenges and getting your first glimpse of the overwhelming possibilities this game offers for those who are smart, patient and think outside the box.
edit: Also this: Trust noone unconditionally & "if a player offers you something which sounds to good to be true, it probably isn't" There are a lot of players in EVE praying on people who are gullible.
Also stay away from Goonswarm. They offer great comedy relief but probably at your expense.
Also try to find some ingame channels for new players to add a little bit more "social" to the experience and get in touch with helpful people.
My brand new bloggity blog.
Good on you dude for sticking with it! The last time I got a friend to try Eve he didn't last a day, so you're already ahead of the curve.
And the advice already given above is very valid. Find a noob-friendly corp and you will be able to learn a lot more about the game, and probably get a lot more enjoyment out of it as well.
Good luck!
Where's the any key?
You'll be best off getting into the community aspects of the game as soon as you can.
Is EVE University still around? If so, you should start there. Not for the new player training necessarily, but for the community. At some point a corp will become vital to your long term enjoyment.
