Seems like the requirements are to be kinda high for this game.
I haven't had any problems running any games on my computer ever, running BF3 on High settings with fluid fps rates, but since it's funcom my rig might need an upgrade:
Processor: Intel core 2 duo E6870 OC'd
Graphic card: ATI Radeon 6870 Direct-CU
Ram memory: 4 GB DDR2 ram Razor ram (not sure about the name, but pretty powerfull sticks)
Harddrive: 2 TB 7200 RPM, and an incomming SSD.
So what do you guys think? does this rig stand a chance for TSW? It has never let me down before on any game i've tried so far, was actually impressed to play BF3 on high setting with as said fluid FPS.
Depends on how processor-intensive the game is. As best as I can tell, your claimed processor doesn't actually exist.
If that video card can't handle the game, then Funcom is going to find that they've got a very, very small market for their game.
If u want to play games and enjoy them buy a tower not a laptop.Laptops are only for internet surfing and nothing more.
M2c
Central Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz (8 x CPUs)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M
Video Memory 2.00 GB
Screen Resolution 1600 x 900
This is my laptop it also has 8GB RAM, and with them specs its definately not just meant for internet surfing
definately not as good as my desktop ur right, but ur argument about laptops = invalid, love my asus and these are just the stock parts. i plan on upgrading in 3 months, my laptop anyway.
It depends on what you're going to use it for. If you're a business traveler who spends 3 months per year in a hotel, then sure, a gaming laptop makes tons of sense.
If you're going to use it like a desktop, then you're better off getting a desktop. For the price you paid for that laptop, you probably could have gotten both a cheap laptop that is far more portable and also a gaming desktop that handily outperforms your laptop.
The CPU isn't the issue IMO. Try a 1 GB graphic card, that will make a huge difference. My system is almost as old, but I have a NVidia GTX 460 with 1 GB, and I could run AoC almost on highest settings easily.
The amount of video memory isn't the issue. It's the GPU chip. Get the same card with 2 GB of video memory and all you do is increase the power consumption.

Oh my bad it's E6750 processor, mixed it up lol .
I guess my rig is still alive atleast untill the end of the year, then i'll proably consider upgrading full-out.
That's 2.66 GHz, which is just barely over the official minimum system requirements. How well that will run is basically a question of how well Funcom thinks that a computer at the minimum system requirements ought to run.

Damn yea, i sure would like to play the game att full resolution etc. In worst case i'll just upgrade (motherboard+processor+ram) lol almost whole computer for 200-250 bucks to have a i5 2.5k and 8-16gb quality ram so i can keep that 6870 and get some kind of performance balance.
I certanly hope i'll get in to beta so i can have some kind of overview on how close my current rig is on the borderline of destruction

If that's US dollars, you're looking at more like $500 for that upgrade than $200-$250.
nVidia 8800 series 512 VRAM or better/Radeon HD3850 512MB or better

At least 2GB RAM for Windows XP / 3GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7 *

At least 30GB of free space
Come on guys, most people should already have something much higher than these minimum specs. If you are still using something lower than this, I think its time you look for an upgrade.

As much as I'd like to upgrade it's just not possible, minimum wage jobs, school, rent + internet + groceries to pay, student loans to pay back and I had an Internship in Ireland last year, that used up all the money I saved up.
College next year isn't gonna make it better, only worse!

Are you in high school at the moment? Anyways, that sucks to hear. I am full time business student, but I am only taking either evening or online classes and a business analysis during the day and make $50 per hour and I love my job, you might won't to look into a different profession.
Can't atm, I'm moving in July so nobody would hire me, and moving will cost MORE money!
I would be able to save for a 500$ rig, but that won't last me long.
That is true, if you are looking for something to last for awhile you might need to spend a bit more. Anyways, hope runs for you, the only problem is that the engine tsw is utilizing has been heavly updated, since its AoC days. You might be able to run the game at the lowest settings, but you might have to lower your resolution quiet a bit. But then again it all comes down to what you consider playable. As for me, I cant even stand games running under 60 fps.
Well I assume as much since I bought my Laptop during the Summer of 2009.Be
Edit : Been browsing the official forums quite a bit, seems like a lot of people report that Funcom said that if you can run AoC you can run TSW, I can run AoC soo!
Then again I assume minimum specs aren't absolute.
The reality with pc's is mind bogingly complicated.
Consider the sheer amount of cpu choices.
Then the number of motherboards
Graphics cards
Sound Card
Drivers
Bios
Slap all the crappy programs ppl install which can affect performance
All of that and it expands exponantially and i didnt even include laptops.

Good rigs are so damn cheap in the US.
We spend about 1000€'s for a 500$ rig :P

When it comes to mmos anything above 30fps is good enough.
I prefer 40+ but I can deal with a tad lower.
