Hello, all.
As my title implies, I am trying to choose between the two classes. The Lancer and the Warrior both are in the thick of it, use the action combat system correctly or die classes. For the past few years, I have gravitated to melee. It is down to these 2.
Lancer Problem - I want to play as a Castanic or Elin (leaning toward Castanic tho), so I lose out on some of the hallway blocking an Aman can do.
Warrior Problem - There are apparently the most poorly implemented class in TERA. They are now a dps class mostly brought along for a debuff they provide.
The Warrior animations are funny for the Elin, the look like cartoon characters wobbling and almost falling. The Castanic look badass in anything they do (except the running is a little too bent over). Lancers look great no matter what.
When it comes down to it, I will probably start with a Castanic Lancer and level an Elin Warrior as an alt later.
BUT if there is any knowledge on Warrior getting fixed - I will start there, as the reason to choose Lancer first is for grouping not from my desire to play one.
Someone please make a good MMO.

Warriors are getting buffed this week.

Many people who have played TERA extensively, especially as a warrior will argue this point. The warrior class is having some trouble tanking the newest hard mode dungeons in K-TERA.
Aside from that, it's the class which requires the most finesse out of all the classes. Finesse, which many people do not have. Who wants to come home, load up TERA only to have to feel strained while playing the game?

Based on that alone, I would go with warrior if I were you. You'll only keep thinking about warrior and if you would have liked the changes. Take the plunge from the start instead of wasting your time playing another character.
L2P TERA combat:
I'm in the same boat so I decided to play a lancer with my group and a warrior when I solo ( when they'r enot online ) that way if I decied to switch it wont be a big deal. and if I end up liking both I'll have them.
At the very least it will give me my warrior fix rather then alwasy wondering if I'd like it more and made a mistake.
Warrior may not be as good as a lancer for tanking, but in the right hands you'd be surprised how well they can do, on top of that for level solo'ing BAMs they are the best, the best balance of efficiency for solo'ing BAMs, decent damage and great survivability, killing BAMs on a lancer. The level 60 dungeons have a lot more mechanics than previous dungeons so are a little more complicated for warriors, but up until 58 they were doing amazing in the right hands.
On to dps, they are not bad at all, due to quick attack speed they can get off lots of attacks in a short period, especially between boss attacks and out dps almost any zerker and every archer no doubt.
Lastly PvP they are quite good and can focus down a caster easily, with slows, backstabs and a flurry of stuns. Lancer obviously has greater survivability but can't deal enough damage to kill a healer.

I am aways leery of what the developers say is happening for a given class. The players are usually more knowledgable/truthful about it. So it is good to hear some insight on it.
I am still torn on the Elin Warrior or Castanic Lancer thing.
The cutesy Elin thing might get old and the plate armor in this game looks amazing on Castanics.
Well, this puts them on relatively equal footing for me - Warrior ahead a bit now.
I realy think that Warrior embodies what makes TERA so different. Yeah, Lancers actively block things, but the dodge mechanics on the Warrior are so much more demanding of the player.

AS far as the Lancer Problem go, Trust me The Racials Do not Matter at all. Never pick a race because of the racials in TERA, They are not even worth doing. So Yeah Pick your favorite race regarding lancers because the Racial skills dont even have a 5% effect, I mean its almost pointless. Now Warriors are really fun, They are not poorly implemented or anything they simply needed a power boost and They got a bit of a remake. I would say to pick what you like more because both of these Problems are basically fixed. It all comes down to what you want to do, Dodge or block?
To clarify the racial aspects - I am not worried about the racials themselves, e.g. Amani taking less damage at low health %. I am worried about the actual collision detections difference. I know they narrowed the gap between Amani and Elin body blocking, but the taller races (Bar, Am, High Elf) are still better made to physically block a hallway (stop the mobs from running past them) than the smaller Races (Elin and Castanic). That is what makes Elin a slightly less desireable choice for a Lancer (based on what I have read).
As for Warriors tanking, the moving of the boss as it responds to the dodges was one of the main negatives to Warrior tanking. Basically, on a movement intense fight, the Warrior tank dodging makes it that much harder to avoid a cleave/stay on the sweet spot for attacking it, etc. The stand and hold Lancer tanking is easier for everything else to work around due to it's more static approach.

Hmm I heard the Fixed the hitbox Problem with all races and made it pretty similar. As far as warrior tanking goes, They are suppose to be a lot harder to play. On the plus side they are one of the most agile classes, They are also getting some nice Buffs so their damage will be pretty high too. In the end it all comes down to what you enjoy, Warrior tanking is hard but possible All you need is good Latency to execute the dodges.
A baraka lancer will no doubt have a much bigger block area than an Elin lancer and will also have a full heal on a two hour cooldown which is better than any Elin racial.
They will also be easier to hit and spot in a crowd. So it depends on your playstyle.
Race wise play what you like, the side and hit box won't matter as much.
Class goes warrior are getting fixed, they already got their dps fixed, currently in testing in KTera is the no stamia system where blocking/dodging for lancer/warrior use stamia instead so warrior can endless dodge as long as they have stamia. Kinda like how it works in monster hunter with sprint.
You are correct - they fixed the hitbox area.
BUT
It's the blocking size that I am talking about.
There are LOTS of things for tanks to consider in TERA (incoming - reason why all other MMOs pale in comparison in terms of tactics and execution) -
1. Blocking size - collission detection means that you can actually make a wall with your toon or a group of toons. They have not fixed this to be equal - so the Aman block better than the Elin. It is actually based on height - so High Elves aren't too bad either.
2. Hitbox - landing the targeted heals. They fixed this. I believe they all have the same hitbox for receiving heals now.
3. Racials - the only race with a good tanking racial is Amani. But it is a very small gain and apparently not worth fretting over.
NEW WORRY -
If Warriors get fixed. They are so awesome, I could see tons of people wanting to play them and them being overpopulated.
As a Rogue in WoW and rift it went from everyone to almost no one playing them back to everyone based on other classes getting buffed, etc. If a Warrior can tank and dps, it will be a go to place for Rogues and Warriors alike to since you can get your tank and your 2h fighting fix.

This is a new game - Don't worry about what is OP and such, just play what you enjoy. The balancing will fall in place sooner or later and EME shows signs of being on the "sooner" side of production.
I loved tumling so I loved the warrior - I would like to try the zerker but the slayer seems so much more fun with the tumbling
Warrior will not be able to tank and dps at the same time. You need to have a completely different set of gear for tanking (and it has to be pretty specced out, as you need to have a lot better gear than a Lancer to tank as effectively) as well as using a completely different glyph set. Most players would just choose 1 role and stick with it.
Also, considering the skill level of the general population, most of them will change to something easier to play once they realize they can't just mash keys and win.
