Will Tera be what Aion should've Been?

ChrisboxChrisbox Member UncommonPosts: 1,729

So I actually haven't played the game yet, but from what im seeing properly executed action combat, real world politics, and good PVP are all being promised.  Kind of sounds like what Aion shouldve been, and if thats the case then this game has caught my interest.

I don't see the PvP as very different.  Leveling in TERA felt the same as trying to level in the abyss.

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

AION in South-Korea is what AION should've been over here. In theory.

    L2P TERA combat:

I wouldn't say "should have been" but I think it's a vast inprovement.  I love Aion for it's art style, combat, mass PvP and array of group content.  I would break it down like this:

    What you gain:

    • Open world

    • un-sectioned OWPvP

    • Improved combat

    • Better Crafting/Gathering

    • More defined graphics and animations

    • Varied races

    • Nexus endgame overworld events (single, group, raid)

    • More dynamic guild system

    • More features and systems

What you lose (as of right now*):

    • Fortress mass PvP*

    • Flying

    • "High Fantasy" art style.  This is toned down a little in TERA

    • Battlegrounds*

    • Personal housing (guild housing is in TERA)

    • Free to play model

    * These items will not be in for launch but are planned in future updates.  Battlegrounds to be released "late summer".  Server vs. Server is planned but no timeline given.  This will be a large battleground shared by four servers, each with a fortress.  Each server fights off the others since there is a teleporter to that server inside each fortress.  If an opposing server gets through they can enter the server through the teleporter and attack it's people.

Unless you love Aion's art style and can't do without flying or fortress PvP I think most Aion fans will love TERA.  There are a lot of people from Aion that I know have already moved over.

Best thing is to check it out yourself: https://account.enmasse.com/

Enter "TERABETA" as an activation code and play the Open Beta this Friday from the 20th to the 22nd.  The download is about 45G I think so you might keep that in mind lol.

Just not worth my time anymore.

Tera is what SWToR should have been.  If it was I would be playing it right now and not waiting for tera to launch.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

I like Tera a lot, but this is just a dumb post.

Care to elaborate Zookz? I myself played SWTOR for three weeks before never logging back in.

Coxy, bah! I messed that up. Should have put wings instead of flying lol

He said Tera is what SWTOR should be. They're not even remotely similar games and you can easily see that. Hell, even the overhyped (and usually exaggerated) ad's for both games would tell a consumer the games are completely different. SWTOR is extremely different from Tera by design.

See I thought he was referring to the mechanics, not the setting of the game. I just took it differently than you did. I would argue that if other games, that can't hold my attention, had TERA's combat and open world envirorment I would love them.
