Seems interesting, a futher google search shows that Arena Net, and Aion both list that address, both games are owned by NCSoft.

Seems to jive with what you had to say.

    Interesting.

I'm not the biggest fan of NC, but I'll take what I can get if it lands Archeage in the west.

Seems they have their pubbie. Good. Bit strange that they're being secretive about it for more than a year at least but I guess that has to do with final contract work confirming their cooperation which might still take some time.

Now if only AA would release in the west before that register date expires.

While I'm not the greatest NC fan, at least they have the means to get it out here. Thats something to be thankfull for I guess.

There's also the thing that Jake Song jumped from NCSoft to create his own company (XLGAMES).

There might be some bad blood between the companies ;)

BUT ncsoft is a greedy publisher so if there's money to be made, then why not :j

Fan or not, NCsoft is the only Korean/NA publisher that will publish triple A games. It makes sense that they would take on archage. and the sandbox crowd really needs archage.

This game is a direct competitor to a potential future Lineage 3 release, so I'm not entirely convinced that NCsoft would take on that project as publishers.

I don't see why not. The Sony move they pulled on Vanguard was just pure stupid. You own both IP, so why not profit off of them. Hey you want to shut down EQ when EQ2 came out? Two different games, owned by the same company. Let them both grow. More money come in that way.

Perhaps, but in SOE's case, they owned both games (and basically purchased Vanguard to kill it). In NCsoft's case, they'll own Lineage 3 and only publish Archeage.

It's more the situation of EA having SW:TOR and publishing/ distributing TSW. My guess is that they'll do the absolute minimum required to promote TSW and bury it if they can, as opposed to what they do to promote SW:TOR. Which is basically what is happening really, the only real effort to promote TSW comes from the Funcom developers, as far as I can see.

This does sorta make sense. Jake Song and T.J. Kim (CEO of NCsoft) are both childhood friends, they did have a fallout but this past year they have become best friends again.

    Urgh.

Outdated, not fostered and nourished Gameguard

    Bloatware NCsoft Launcher?

    Urgh..just urgh.

Besides, Lin]I[age (L3) just started development in Februar 2012. If they take as long as with L2 or Aion, we might as well won't see it before 2015.

its isn't. lineage 3 - also called lineage: eternal - seams to be more like a competitor to diabolo 3 and related games ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSlLXVoLnHs&feature=related )

and yes, ncsoft makes sense. a) the relationship between jake song (major contributor to lineage and tabula rasa) to ncsoft, even with the rumors that this relationship went cold after him starting xlgames. b) ncsoft may be the most competent partner for a launch of an asia high budget pay to play mmog in the western market, c) it would be a great addition to ncsofts portfolio after aion and lineage II went f2p and d) in my opinion archeage is a more ligitimate successor to the lineage series than lineage eternal.

Lineage Eternal is NOT Lineage 3.

    This will take time -,-

Dudes... .The grand designer of Lineage is the same dude making ArcheAge (Jake Song) , Its said that ArcheAge is the succesor of Lineage being closer to as it should have bin but could not due to the tech restrictions  of the time.

Im not sure how the bussiness relation between NCsoft and Jack Song is but if its sill good I supose NCsoft would make a fine partner.

  • xmentyxmenty Member UncommonPosts: 719

I am not 100% sure but I saw it an interview that Jake Song and Ncsoft bosses are really great buddies.

They start the Ncsoft games together but Jake left the company to pursue his own dream game before Ncsoft make it really big.

Initially I though same thing ,but while you think about it for a longer while it might make sense actually for NcSoft to publish ArcheAge. Why?

    - LineAge III (NOT Lineage Eternal) - just started into pre-production recently (like 2 months ago?) so that would mean 4-5 years till release still and AA is almost ready.

    - We don't know what kind of game L III will be actually. NcSoft may plan to alter L III design a bit from AA design. + like I said L III works just started (again this is NOT LineAge Eternal) so it is looooong years since L III release.

    - While ArcheAge MAY be considered "spiritual succesor to Lineage II" it also have quite a bit of diffrences to L2 design (and alot of similarities at same time of course)

    - Aion relatively failed in West , LineAge II is well very old , GW2 while have success written all over it - it is diffrent type of game than ArcheAge, so taking AA into portofolio might not be bad idea.

    - Jake Song and NcSoft CEO are rumored to be in good terms

    - After all business is just business

So while initially it may seem bit weird ,actually it is not THAT weird for NcSoft to pick up AA.  Add that AA have a potential to wreck TERA once it release as an added bonus for NcSoft lol
