Atlantica online may fit your bill. Its a turnbased MMO, so I don't really know... won't go too much into it incase you decided to not like it after learning this.

You pick your main character, he/she is the hero. The hero character can be pretty much any class (you have the choice of, Swordsman, Archer, Gunner, Artillery, Axe, Guitar, and a couple more) You then recruit mercs to fight with you, by level 60 or so you can have up to 8 mercs fighting along side you.

Near the end of the game, it becomes more cash shop reliant, but since you are only looking for something to last until GW2, I'm sure you'll be fine.

And yes, there is an autopath feature for quests and what not.

I wish you luck in your endeavors.

Not at all. Acquiring a beta-key is quite straightforward and the process was discovered by members of the PoE community within days: simply post in their forums. Doing so will exponentially increase the odds of your account being "randomly" chosen.

The actual location doesn't seem to matter, however, more informative posts seem liable to garner attention with greater haste. I, for one, acquired a beta-key within three days of joining the community, having posted a mere nine times (albeit, each was quite verbose and typically included feedback, technical or gameplay suggestions).

Furthermore, mutliple members (myself included) acquired numerous keys to hand out freely. Many of these are routinely given away on a first-come-first-served basis within the forum, others to those who merely request them. Speaking of which, I've one left and can send it your way, provided you're interested...

That is so untrue, I have been a member of the community since Dec 2011 and posted a few times and never got a beta key from that random key giver.  I got mine from another beta tester that had an extra friend key was giving away via a contest.

Some people there have posted 30-40 times and been a member in the community since Jan 2011 (cuz all 2010 members got keys from the Devs) and still today have not gotten a key from that random generator.

Ill-luck, mate, does not disprove the point. The vast majority of people I've spoken or played with followed the exact same rule: post in the forum and your odds of being "selected" improve. In fact, you'll find this same advice trumpted quite often on the Path of Exile forums.

Also, I actually have two keys available, so, if anyone is interested, just send me a message and I'll see you in-game...

EDIT: Both keys have now been given away to MMORPG.com members. I'll post back here if I acquire any more.
