this past week Aion went free to play with a massive 3.0 update making the game a WHOLE lot  better, more levels, armor, dungeons, faster leveling then release, more to do, player housing

worth a look, i think Diablo 3 and Tera are gonna fail hard. And the graphics for free? amazing.

I play Decepticon (Asmo) on Tiamat, goodluck.

Not that I have any intention of playing D3 or Tera, ok, maybe Tera, maybe,  but what makes you sure they will fail?

Among the big updates are giving every piece of content in the game away for free, new open-world player housing, and a whole expansion’s worth of new spells, zones and dungeons.

every piece of existing content—including character classes, quests, and the entire 3.0 patch—totally free for everyone. Raise your eyebrow in mild concern at the fact that some stat gear will be sold in the cash shop, alongside the usual roster of convenience and cosmetic items. Then close your jaw after discovering that there’s no subscription option, only a cash shop.

It’s a refreshingly simple system: every account has the same status, meaning free players aren’t crippled by artificial limitations on bag size, credit accumulation, or grouping, as they are in far too many MMOs.

I hate to say this but sadly Aion does not interest me in the least.

On the bright side characters to change the looks now only cost about $3 or something down from $10 or $15.

However the market place is going pay 2 win, or pay to experience the best in playing the game just like Lineage 2, for example all the pets that they had for one time purchases are gone or most of them. The Lineage 2 armor is gone, and I bet that if it comes back they no longer make it perm but instead they make the costumes expire as well now that it is F2P.

In addition the Experience boosters only last for one hour, and still count down I believe not sure if the user is in a town, and only last for one hour a hardcore player who plays a MMORPG 8+ hours a day would have to buy a ton of these.

There is no optional flat rate subscription packages that offer anything that great like Unlimited Character Customizations for a flat rate of $20, along with other goodies like XP/AP boosts but they will also stack with the items you buy from the shop as well for example that would be great but they don't do it.

I dont know about everyone else but I am giving up on games that are pay 2 win, or pay for enjoyment of the game. I don't mind paying for F2P games in fact I put a lot of money.

So now I am giving Tera a chance, and NCsoft lol well they are becoming totally F2P now but I am not going to be someone who is paying constantly to enjoy the game the way I wish to experience it. Think of it this way if I played a perfect world MMORPG based title, or NCsoft I would be spending over $50 a week to enjoy the game with maximum benefits the way I wish to because thats just the way it is. However if I play Tera its a flat $15 a month, and no additional fee equal and fair. The only other MMORPG titles I put money into is League OF Legends, Tribes Ascend, and Fallen Earth however I regret ever playing Fallen Earth again because of the support G1 gives it makes nexon look like angels.

But I believe there is a difference between Free 2 Play, which the game might be, however I am not playing a Free 2 Play game that is Free 2 Play but to enjoy maximum experience you have to spend more than $50 a month, or constantly keep inserting quarters to continue enjoying that experience, or Pay 2 Win in other words gain very unfair advantages.

Hey guys quick question.   If i purchased Aion as a pre order way back when, does my account get any perks for the free 2 play?  I havent played the game for like 2 years but I was wondering if they are doing anything for ppl that purchased the game.  Thanks in advance
