Been following EoC for a while. For those who haven't heard of it before, it's a fantasy sandbox game being developed by Forsaken Studios.
Their Vision statement for the game can be found here:

Have to log on to the forum to view the gallery? Really?

That appears to be the case.
Much of the concept art has already been loaded onto MMORPG.com already. There's not a lot out there, as this game is still in the very early stages of development.
Some of the concept art can be seen on the FS homepage without logging in.

Yeah, it looks pretty early on, I'm sure they'll revamp everything eventually. I'll keep this on the back burner for now, kinda following The Repopulation atm and that's still about a year off. It's good to see more sandboxes popping up though.

It's definitely still early in development. Like you, I've been following EoC in a long-term way, like ArcheAge, Repopulation, and World of Darkness, all of which are pretty far from any kind of release.
Indeed, it is good to see more sandbox games coming in the future.

Hi there,
The website is indeed due a huge overhaul, which is currently under development. At this time our focus is on the game itself, but our community site will be getting updated quite heavily, with media, lore and information sections that are much easier to navigate without having to register on the community forum (although, I suggest you do!).
Thanks for taking an interest.
Dave
Can't wait to see it!
Oooh new concept art just released https://www.facebook.com/EmbersOfCaerus
Looks pretty good! Good to see more coming from them.

I've been following Archeage, if this can compete soon, here in the USA. I'm interested.
I believe their tentative timeline for EoC has them estimating a release in 2015 or 2016, so it's pretty far away. It's likely AA will be released in the US before that.
I'm still on the fence about ArcheAge. I like some of what I see, but not all. It might be trying to be all things to all people, which usually just mean watered down gameplay. EoC is full-on sandbox, which is my preference, though I admit it's a niche.

Definately looking forward to this title.

Pretty much everything he said...
Anyway, thanks for letting us know about, I went ahead and registered on the site so maybe they'll keep me in the loop as the game develops.
Guessing it will be a cluster of same race vs race folks pew pew tank casting each other through FPS. That has been Darkfall and Mortal Online. Call me crazy, but we deserve a sandbox where our enemies are actually different than us. Im not talking about the "freedom" to dye our gear or accept only rat people in our guild. I am meaning that race and culture bind as one to face an uncommon enemy (The 300, Lord of the Rings, and so forth).
I would like to see more of a Shadowbane approach (including a server rule set option for race vs race). But that is just a dream. I always say thank the tolkien gods that the books weren't built like a sandbox. Otherwise Frodo Baggins would have been killed by Samwise long ago over a copper mine.
You mention the 300. That was Human vs Human, they were just different races of man. That is what we will have in our game world. First, you will have different races on each continent: Hard northmen in Aaldnarech, tribal folk on Napuanqa etc. Each with different strengths, and also each with different equpment. Then within each coninent, there will be three separate core fations, countries or clans. Each with a degree of friction between them, and reasons to band together with your own people. For example, Valedonia has a more tribal group in the north, much like Scotsmen in their clans, the mystical celtic folk in the west, like irish/welsh, and the feudal eastern kingdoms, much like medieval england.
There will be variety, with reasons to both work together, and in some cases against each other, but it will not be between different species, rather just different races and factions of man.
I like that approach. It also makes it easier to create wearable items for your humanoid player characters versus different models for different species.
Just have to make sure you don't limit options for the players. If you're making a sandbox it will go over better if you focus less on telling players how you want them to play with their sand.
Overall I'd have to be skeptical. Too many indie developers try to reinvent the wheel when it comes to sandboxes, and the end result is that they fall short of even making a good sandbox... nevermind reinventing anything.
When I read "We have a feature list to die for..." I have to cringe. Don't get me wrong, I wish the best for the team here, but I wish I could see a project dedicated to creating a solid living world and then expanding on that, instead of trying to amaze us from the beginning.
Ah, well this is where I agree, and this is a key part of the Vision: To create a living breathing world, that would continue to grow, change and adapt even if players aren't in it. This is also why we have coined the term EvP (Environment versus Player), as you are just living in the world, rather than the world revolving around you as in a typical Themepark game. You aren't the hero, unless you go out of your way to make yourself one, and the world is a very dangerous and unforgiving place.
But yes, your skepticism is justified, and natural
It would be nice to get some more sandbox options out there. Sorry, but, after playing one sandbox-style game, it doesn't take me long to get bored with WoW and other games that follow the "let us herd you from one zone to another as you level your way through the set skills attached to whatever class/profession you've chosen with combat being the main emphasis (actually enjoy crafting? you may get to do it but good luck with crafting anything that truly competes with all the loot drops available and don't expect to be able to focus soley on crafting)"
I have been following EoC for a while know. The thing i would like to see is a crafting system that will depend on other crafters to make the final product. When i play MMO games, I play for the crafting systems. I want to feel like crafting is a part of the world....meaning crafters should make the best weapons in the game. But to get that best item crafters would need stuff from other crafters and adventures.
I know i am dreaming when it comes to this, but mybe this game is differnt. maybe they will do what know other game will do (in the beginning of EQ2 crafters depended on each other to make items, It was the dream....untill the removed that whole system lol) So to me the only thing i care about in games is the crafting systems. So please consider my dream when makeing this game.

After my foolish attempt of preordering Mortal Online i'll stay back and keep my hype down unless i see some REAL gameplay footage before i'll buy any so called "SANDBOX" MMO.
So that's where that concept art came from. I saw it floating around the net the other day, but without the logo in the bottom corner.
I'm not generally a sandbox fan, but the tired, stagnant npcs of most themepark MMOs have me more than willing to try something new. I'll add this to the list of things to keep track of, along with AA
"Forums aren't for intelligent discussion; they're for blow-hards with unwavering opinions."
I can understand that. I myself was a purchaser of a Limited Edition box set from MO.
But those feelings are part of what has driven me to assemble the Forsaken Studios team and work on EoC.
I won't ask you for anything more than a chance - and feel free to reserve judgement until the day we prove ourselves and the game to you. What I will ask though, is that on that day, you make sure to spread the news to others who are like us and wanting a great sandbox mmo to play.
What no "finally a ray of sunshine" or "this game will kill wow" threads?
God i hate people who make those threads...dont do it they are marks of death for any game in development.
Seriosuly though...2016 is so far away...people are going to be preoccupied on their hover boards and going to vaction on the moon to be botherd with mmorpgs...
I am very excited about this game. I have been foloowing it for a while now. I am looking forward to the crafting (thats what i play online games for.....im not a fighter, just a crafter trying to supply the world with my goods). I am so tierd of looking for a game to play and i am very hopeful about this game being "the one" but its so far ways its hard to think about. But i am a fan for now.
