Few questions

I just bought Final Fantasy XI: The Vana’diel Collection. I was wondering it says I get a free 30 day trial. Now does that mean everything I do that 30 day is free as making a character and playing as long as I want for those 30 days? Is my CD Key tied to my account? Do I have to give a credit card right away when I make my account? If so can I change my credit card at a later date?

If you guys can answer these questions that would be fantastic! Thanks.

Yes, you can do anything you like and it will be free for the first thirty days of your account. Your CD key (properly, your registration codes; you got five of them, one for PlayOnline, one for TetraMaster, one for Final Fantasy XI, one for Rise of the Zilart, and one for Chains of Promathia) are tied to your account; as you use them to register your account to these five services, they become irrevocably assigned to your account and cannot be used again. You will need a valid credit card with some credit available on it to make an account. You can change your credit card at any time through PlayOnline. Welcome to Vana'diel; I hope you enjoy as much as I have.

Awesome...just a few more. What happens when I die? What is the max level?

When you die, you fall on your face (or on your back, depending on your character model). A one-hour timer pops up with a "Home Point" button. If you press the button, or the timer runs out, you return to your last selected home point (these are available in all the towns and cities; in addition, you can set your home point to various guard posts all over the place as well). While you're dead you can't do anything other than use /linkshell, /tell and /party chat commands (you can't /say or /shout). The only thing that can happen to you is another character could use a Tractor spell to move your body (useful when they want to get you somewhere safe before Raising you). If you home point, you lose a set amount of experience points, which increases with level and is generally around 5% to 10% what you need to get that level (below level 4, there's actually no penalty). If this is sufficient to take you below your current level, you'll delevel. However, you appear at your home point healthy and ready to go, with no penalty other than your lost exp. The other option besides home pointing is being raised. You get this option if you die while benefiting from a reraise state (the buff icon is a gleaming halo), or if another character casts a raise on you after you die. A dialogue appears asking if you accept the raise. If you do, you return to life where you fell. You will have almost no HP and MP when you revive. Also, you are subject to a Weakened status for several minutes, during which your max HP and MP are severely reduced. You still lose exp, but less than you would if you home pointed. Here is a exp chart that includes the exp loss for home-point death, home-point death with an experience moghancement (which you can get by correctly furnishing your player housing), and death with the various levels of raise. You do lose just about all of your buffs/debuffs when you die (including, of course, reraise). Signet is about the only buff I can think of that you keep.

    The max level is 75.
