Diablo 3 was a sure buy on my list. May 15 , I mean how can it be bad ?
I didnt even care for beta. But it was open , so what the heck ....
So I started playing, and to my soprise found it pretty ... meh...
Just a feeling of "blandness" , beyond the shock of game being completely dumbed down on RPG skill customisation side.
Now I am really not sure i will even buy the game....

That's really disappointing. It's on my list of future purchases as well, but since I'll be occupied for a bit with some other recent purchases I will probably wait and see what you guys think after launch.
I totally disagree with you.
This game is just the beginning. It is a preview of basic mobs and the first skill lvl on spells and combat moves.
It showed just a few boss fights which were engaging and fun.
The crafting is great. I love the rune system for skills which increase their effectiveness and look.
The companion system was nice as well as the achievement brackets.
Diablo 3 was fun as hell for what it was.. a beta preview of just lvls 1-10.. which in Diablo means it showed you very little and expect the rest of the game to get better and better.
That is surprisingly good to hear because this is the second thread like this the last 20 minutes and yours is the first positive posts in both threads.
To me crafting in Diablo seems rather odd...
I do hope you are right
But few things are there to note.
1. First impressions are important and developers know this. If the game fails to make first impression. I am rather suspicious of what is down the line.
2. Game is extremely dumbed down. You basically have no influence on how your character develops. Skills are unlocked automatically. And all you need to choose is what skill you are equipping at the time.
3. Competition has better offers. Path of Exile is far closer to Diablo2 feel , and its immensly more complex (and looks better). Torchlight seems to have better gameplay (and higher fidelity graphics). Heck even browser game Darkensang is not far behind.
So what is Diablo 3 bringing to the table... I really fail to understand it right now
