I quit playing AC nearly 2 years ago, I had played since release. Now after looking at a ton of MMORPG's i've come to realize how much I truly loved ac. The exploration, the great community. I remember being level 12, getting an olthoi sword and feeling so powerful. I was wondering if there was anything we could do to bring the thrill of not being a powerleveled super-char back to the game.
We all know that the servers are underpopulated (comeon......subway was fun as hell back in the day). I think if we combined all of the carebear servers together there would be a nice fat population on that one server to run the game.
The biggest problem is not only bringing back the lower levels.....but getting people to stay in them longer. Find a way to encourage staying in the lower levels to see the dungeons, to explore everything that this game has to offer to them, right from the get go. I thoroughly remember spending months to hit high twenty's because I spent so much time checking out all of the stuff I could see.....we need to bring that back.
The last thing is questing. How do we bring the thrill back. I remember being so nervous that my hands were literally shaking going through quests. I remember running through the old dires for the lightning stone quest and half of the party getting whiped out, then feeling like I actually accomplished something positive in the game, not just completed something that I'm a noob for not getting done.
Other than the first thing about population I have no idea how to fix the other two problems. I think that I could fix the second for myself by simply not making a hybrid and leveling it on my own but without hundreds of people doing the same the experience just wouldnt be there. (And don't say start a new server because there still wont be exploration nor will there be people at lower levels for more than a few weeks until someone gets high enough to start the power leveling process.) The third thing I have no clue how to fix it......
Well AC was the greatest MMORPG of all time (and still is IMHO) I just wish that we could repair the few taints it has and bring it back to its feet.

Even lower levels do not last long, without anything other than just playing the game and utilizing game functions to do that.
There were several of us that created new characters in the new race of Viamontins and we had a ball doing the lower level quests, but in no time, we were already at 20 and growing fast. Fellowship XP, quest items that give you experience points, items you turn in to collectors for XP, etc all make the lower levels zoom by.
As for questing, the other night I took my higher level out to the eaters dungeon. Without melee trained, I found my hands sweating as I fought to stay alive LOL have not felt that in a long time, so I can appreciate the "thrill" you seek.
And yes, I died.. often lol

I look forward to the next update of MMOGChart.com, that is assuming he really has inside "sources" and they are actually accurate. I'm interested in how much the AC1 and AC2 expansions really helped. I don't think they did much. AC2 is already off shelves after a couple months and I see no reason why the same won't be happening to the AC1 boxes. LotRO and DDO are our and Turbines only hopes now.
We need to petition Turbine to make a free trial account.
But in order to make it so that they cannot be abused for XP chains/Rank. Make it so any account with a free trial key that goes inactive after it's trial period and doesn't get reactivated for 30 days, has it's allegiance ties dissolved.
That will get people trying AC and New people running around.
AS for getting people to try my beloved server of Darktide... it's hard because they are always greeted by the village idiot in noobville. "Hi, I'm a level 126+ and can't kill people my own level so I wait for noobs to appear so I can kill them..." if you've tried darktide you've seen that before.
Nowadays I try to venture to the lowbie towns to recruit and aid new people coming into the game, my first bit of advice is always about template, and then I tell them to do a few noob quests starting with the one you get at the beginning of the game.
Edit: The one thing that carebears DON'T want is to be merged. They'd see it as the final days of AC and leave... One suggestion was to allow all players to move their characters to darktide and add their original server name to the end. Like Darksoul of WE, that woudl allow people to try the more indepth Asheron's Call.
A new PvP server would bring back a lot of players, including myself. I mean come on, they've got like 8 or 9 PvE servers and ONE PvP server? What the hell.
And the new PvP server should implement some type of rule that makes it so that you can only be buffed by players 10 levels within your level, but at level 100+ it goes away. (Like XP Sharing at 50).
All the game needs is one pvp server. Darktide is not very populated even.

Yeah. As you travel you still run into people, but they're all 126s or lvl 10s buffed with 7s & 8s. If someone tries to take out one of my mules, I usually go suicide mode on them and repeatedly kill myself and run around them in mockery of them until they leave (may take 5 minutes... may take an hour or two... but they eventually leave). Ah, good days; brings a tear to my eye.
