Changed my mind , but I need some answers to finally turn ;)

So yes, as I always said - Lobo ( thats me ) may be known as a hater and overly critical.

But I am also known to change my mind if presented with good arguments.

And those I got.

Regarding skill system.

As someone who plays a lot of ARPGs, i have came to conclusion that its not how many skills character has available , but how varied and viable those skills are. In other words , why should i have 10 different skills if one of them is the best in any situation.

D3 really nabs it by giving selection of skills that are situational and varied.

And the lack of skill tree customisation is a shame. But on other hand being able to respec at any moment is a blessing for buisy dad that has only hour a day to play ;)

You can well say that D3 greatest weakness is its greatest strenght.

Regarding mob/monsters and random dungeon layouts

Again as avid ARPG player , i came to conclusion that what really makes game tick is variety not of monsters , but their special tactics/powers - so far D3 seems to nabs this very well (and I have seen so little) Hopefully variety of monsters is as big as i hope.

Dungeons aswell are random, and provide layer of exploration. Again I hope this ramps up later in the game.

Regarding Items

Core of ARPG are items. This is driven to max in D3. Items are everything. (maybe even to much)

And this is also main fun of ARPG games, random item drops. I also hope that drops are indeed random , and that you can get good items from any mob, and not only from bosses.

So here are my questions:

1. How big is the game ? How much gameplay would you get playing as single player on normal difficulty.

How many areas, acts, etc ...

2. Are special (good) items dropped only from boss monsters, or are they still able to drop from random mobs ?

3. Can you do guided crafting ( add ingridient that gives you intelligence bonus for example )

4. Will there be High Definition Textures in released game ? Because as it looks now its attrocious.

So there are questions I would like to get answered.

Before I take the plunge...

    1. Don't know, but the replay value is high if going through higher difficulties.

    2. There are elite and mini boss type monsters that drop blues frequently, anything that drops loot is capable of dropping them though. Rares can be dropped anything that drops loot too but these actually are rare, so don't plan on seeing many besides the AH or something. Rares can also be crafted with rare mats.

    3. AFAIK, crafting is totally random. Can't choose any of the stats.

    4. I think graphics are final and it really isn't bad.

    1. At higher difficulties mobs/bosses have more than increased hitpoints and health, they also have different abilities.

    2. As said any loot even ledgendary can drop from basic mobs or even a barrel though the drop rate would be insanly low.

    3. Crafting is random theres no way to influence the stats a crafted item will get, though we have gems (9 levels of them) to help steer gear towards our stat goal.

    4. Each to their own, but it wil age well.

    TIPS;

    1. Turn on 'Elective Mode' - move skills around your hotbar, right click an empty slot or slotted skill

    2. Turn on 'Advanced Tooltips' - see the dmg math behind a skill

    3. Hunt down and kill all the mini bosses on a level before going to the main boss, as he will drop more/better loot if his friends are dead -  encourages player not to make a bee line to the end boss like they did in D2.

this may not be the direct answer to your questions, but its just such a good read for anyone still not seeing as how far custimization will go in D3.

Its a massive wall of text though.

Whoa. Wall of text or not. It's very informative and points out all the flaws of the previous incarnation of the diablo and fairly compares it to D3.

People who are pissed about diablo 3 and are comparing it to D2 should get out of nostalgia basket and look at their fav game from another view :) I did that after that "wall of text" and skill trees and player choice attributes  don't look so great as I remember them.

    ps

I quitted D2 after 1.10 and river of bots causing massive lags(I lost several HC characters, because of it).

Good to see you have changed your mind and are once again looking forward to release because you were really very displeased! I believe your questions have been sufficiently answered so I will leave it at that.
