Irth Online: Sweepstakes Quest

Starting tomorrow, August the 24th, Irth Online kicks off an exciting quest sweepstakes. This sweepstakes is being held to further Irth Online's goals of player imput being placed directly into the story of the game.

The continent of Alcerion is divided into four nations. Each of those nations will have a different goal in the quest. How will the story turn out? How will history remember these events? Only time will tell.

The Morbus leader Shantimar and his elite entourage have recently captured the fair Arcadian Princess Mirrim at the ground breaking ceremony for the Coliseum in the Avarian capital, Serenity. Shantimar had intended to sacrifice the princess to the Morbus Wonder of The Cursed in honor of their deity. Unfortunately her appearance became tainted while being dragged through the toxic Morbus Marshes, and she had become unfit for sacrifice.

Shantimar considered taking her as a bride, but her appearance was not quite vile enough to be suitable for a Morbus ruler’s wife. With no other choice available to him, Shantimar began treating the princess with herbs and potions, restoring her fair complexion in preparation for sacrifice. On the eve of her sacrifice at Temblum Fen, the Morbian guard fell asleep in a chair within arms reach of the cell holding Princess Mirrim. She reached into the guards pocket for the keys and escaped Shantimar’s clutches. The guard did not survive Shantimar’s wrath. Princess Mirrim now roams Alcerion trying desperately to return to her safe haven of Arcadia.

Arcadians, rescue King Tharias’ daughter and return her home safely!

Mezoteks, locate the princess and bring her to Mount Lavesh to be sacrificed!

Morbus, recapture the escaped prisoner and return her to Shantimar’s clutches for sacrifice!

Should a Mezotek or a Morbus complete their quest, Princess Mirrim will be offered as sacrifice to their respective wonder. She will only be a memory and a rallying cry for the Arcadian people. If eventually rescued by an Arcadian, the princess will return home to Arcadia alive, seeking retribution on the Mezotek and Morbus in the future. You control the future of Irth.

The two-week contest closes on September 10th. There are a few prizes to be won  during this time as well. To learn more, click here.

    They should have kept the $$ for all the prizes and applied it to fixing up this game instead.

    If you plan on Beta testing Irth Online, be aware that there is a worm called Zotob being spread around.  If you experience very slow patching, immediately get an update to the latest anti-virus software and check the Microsoft site for security patches.

    Really? I didn't know brains were optional for this job.

    Irth Online's Client and files are not spreading around a virus. This was one persons problem with having the virus on thier computer system, and there is no connection to Irth Online and this Virus.

     

    Actually the virus is a worm, that is distributed through email.

    W32.Zotob.J@mm is a mass-mailing worm that opens a back door and exploits the Microsoft Windows Plug and Play Buffer Overflow Vulnerability (described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-039), on TCP port 445.

    Say do you smell that? Yeah, that. That is the smell of desperation of the devs ...offering a contest only a few weeks before release. Nothing wrong with a marketing ploy like dangling an alienware carrot in front of potential players but frankly it would seem too little to late.

    Geez Boris, if negativity could be consumable, with you around there wouldn't be starvation in the world.


    I dont see much desparation, Irth has steady flow of new players and it's been said the game could be self-sufficient with 10k players.

    But you won't win because the winner is gonna be some exploiter with no life. Fame farming it's called and it's a known exploit.

    Anyways Irth Online is a very kewl game; think UO pre-trammel with good graphics. I have beta tested many a game and no game have I had so much input that the devs actually respond to and implement. When the game releases I will tell you what parts I directly affected.

    Check it out and help beta, for PvP lovers this game is gonna be hardcore ruleset and you still have time to impact the final rules. Full corpse looting FTW!

    Putting aside my personal opinions about the game itself, I think this promotional tactic would be better used at release when the game actually is rock solid. The contest and prizes are to get more beta testers? Why, because the majority of beta testers do not want anything to do with it? Using this contest once the game is fully functioning makes more sense to entice more players to join. The leadership of this so called game development is questionable.

    I cannot find any information regarding this, as far as I can tell it was a fraud scam.
