Blizzard secretly helping Gold farmers ?

LobotomistLobotomist Member EpicPosts: 5,981

For very strange reasons Blizzard decide to remove any usefulness from white items in the game.

You cant use them in crafting and they sell from less gold than it would justify carrying them in inventory.

Now although Blizzard streamlined every possible thing - they dont want to remove completely uselles item type that consist 80% of any item drop.

They game a lame excuse that its because players want to see "loot piniata" and white items are there as confetti.

But it makes no sense because they removed every "useless" thing except of that (even to extreme)

So my theory is that they have hidden agenda.

Gold Farmers

Normal player will not bother selling white items. But Gold farmers will double their gold income by selling them (to game vendors).

And so giving them edge in RMAH.

And Blizz wants lot of sales in RMAH, because they get procentage...

You can do it too, I really don't see the problem.

Ohhh kayyyy, the gold farmers are somehow gonna make more money selling whites for like 3g each while every other player will be instead at the least be converting the blue to crafting mats that will sell for 100+ g each?

And by the way, with magic find gear, whites may be upgraded to magic gear.

I really don't know where you come up with this stuff.

Lol.. take off that tinfoil hat.

At lvl 5 a mob drops somewhere between 10 and 50 gold at a time.. a white items sells for 2-5gold so the time it would take to townportal and sell them would in theory cost you hundreds of gold.

Your conspiracy theory is broken but hey good try.

You wanna play around with conspiracy try and look up Vivendi that owns Activision that owns Blizzard.. Now thats some Illuminati for you right there:P

If the loot table in d3 is the same as d2 then the white items are there to fill their role. In d2 when you farmed lets say act5 in hell.Whenever you killed a mob it would make some calculations based on what has been dropped for you so far and take into account your magic find too. For example: it could drop a white archon plate, a gray archon plate, a blue archon plate,a yellow archon plate or a gold archon plate, based on your magic find and what drops you have been getting so far.If a gold archon plate had allready dropped from another mob in the same game, then you would have a lot let chances of getting a gold archon plate in the same game,or if a white archon plate had dropped, then it would increase the chances of getting higher quality archon plates.

So, white items might just be there to balance the loot tables,if d3 loot is close to d2's.

Don't you need some white items in crafting? I think during the beta I needed "a crossbow" to craft a blue crossbow? though I could be mistaken.

Yea, Id have to say this is a pretty pathetic complaint.

There are so many counter arguments that its not even worth discussing.

When everyone gets "the edge" in an RM "auction house", then no one has "the edge" in an RM "auction house".

White gear is pretty useless in about every game I've played.  TBH I'm not sure why they even have vendors for them.

Though, for those looking for a bit of challenge from even level monstahs, wearing all white gear with no buffs might do the trick.

I really doubt it. It just seems like a really inefficient way of "secretly" doing something. :)

The only time I ever put a "white" in my inventory in D2 was when I was going to have the blacksmith chick turn it into a "gold". I doubt I'll play D3 much differently.

You simply have to remember that 'blue' just means it has a magical property.

But if your 'white' item is twice as strong,  say it has 100 armor instead of the 50 on your blue,  you'd salvage the blue and wear the white.

What I dont get is why people arnt complaining about 'grey'...  seems to me that White can actually be usefull, but grey is never usefull....   so why no tears about that?    Obviously the white complaint is just a bit troll imo

Lol @ people who run past white items. Like guy above said, White items can double your armor/damage. Also I pick them up to sell them too. Though when I start maxxing out my armor with blues, Im less picky about picking up white items. Still, every piece is extra gold. Why wouldnt you pick it up? Too lazy to click a button? You can teleport for free, lol.

After I got blacksmith, I wasnt selling any of my blues. I was salvaging them all. And upping your crafting takes money. So... whites make the money. Blues make the items.

People don't pay attention to white's when they know for a fact that they already have better equipment, and most of the time you're gonna be dropping those whites to pickup blues anyway. Simple waste of time to bother with whites on a max level character.

I'll pickup whites if there's a chance they can be used, but really, an inventory full of whites for 50 gold is hardly worth the time, especially when monsters drop more than 50 gold.

Yep.  At least at mid to higher levels, I've always had blue or better gear within a few levels of my character.  In LotRO, WoW, TOR, Rift, whatever, I've never had a white loot drop that was better than my current gear.

At lower levels, however, it's good to at least give them a look.

Just remember that white items means nothing to Blizzard because noone is going to be buying them.

Grim Dawn, the next great action rpg!

By the time you have to go back to town, your bag is never going to be FULL of blues, is it?

When I go back to town I dont to go back empty handed... or have an inventory full of.... nothing. (or a few blues)

If my bag gets full during adventuring and Im not going to town any time soon I will discard the lowest value whites!    In the beta the lowest value items were 2 gold.   But some whites are 10 gold or more.   If I have 30 items like that its 300 gold, well worth a few seconds taken to do a quick inventory dump.

And later on in the game.. well, who knows.  You cant make generaly sweeping statements about 2 hours of game.

I honestly found that by not picking whites at all, I ended up having no where near enough gold to do crafting,  so I guess it comes down to wether or not you want to craft.
