Which MMORPG to buy?

I recently built a P4 3.2Ghz, 1GB Ram, XFX GeForce FX 5500 256MB Vid card, 40GB HDD. I am looking to step out of the shadows of the free, crappy MMORPG (Graal, Runescape, ect.) and start playing a better one. My freind plays FFXI and reccomends that for me, and I like it. I also OWN SWG and could not play it because my old computer sucked the big one. But there are other games that appeal to me, such as WoW, Everquest, ect. Can anyone reccomend a few MMORPGs that you play, and why I should buy it / play it? As an added help, could you tell me the monthly fee of the game you reccomend, also?

I wouldn't play FF11, alful game!
even tho it's not my fave game but i'd reccomend WOW, specially if you havn't been playing mmorpgs for a long time.

Everquest2 is a good game for team play,you can try it with Trial of The Isle on official site.If you like team play and think it's the main point of a MMORPG you will enjoy EQ2.It costs about 15$/month.You also can play it and SWG both with Sony Station pass(I don't remember how much does it cost)

I didn't like FFXI. It's not a bad game, it just doesn't do any particular thing all that well. You're better off with WoW which I would say has the best PvE content out there. If you're into crafting try Saga of Ryzom, if you're into PvP - Lineage2 or even GW. (GW doesn't have a monthly fee but it's also not entirely an MMO. All others are around 15$ a month.) Also I would becareful if you're gonna try FFXI out. Their billing system is ridiculous as they charge first of every month. Another thing about FFXI is that the servers are Japan/NA mixed and Japanese players speak very little English.
Or you can be an MMO hopper like me ^.^ and never quite settle down
