I can’t post on the main site because it say I need a character so I would like to put this up here.
Did anyone try the crafting? I think the crafting in D3 just blows the cube out of the water. Everything can be broken down and re-forged as I understand it but I found that in OB only blues and yellows could be broken down. I trained my blacksmith to level 2 over the courses of the main quest so after beating SK I went into explore/craft mode.
What I really like about the way they implemented this is that even at level 30+ your resources are still valid since the ilvl is removed in the breaking down of trash. I spent about 2 hours re-running dungeons and maps in search of materials and gold LOL was just so addictive I could not seem to stop. After a couple hours of running back and forth to the smith I had enough components to start a crafting round. I made on attempt 1 junk I kept at the re-forging for about an hour and made a axe with +12 HP per kill and 2% MF, a good +2 HP regen boots with 20 AF and 1% speed. To me this low level stuff was outstanding since many games I played are fixed stats.
I guess my question is will the blacksmith become the new gambling niche from D2?

I think the crafting will only be mid-high gear. I still think the best gear will come from monsters. Crafting seems to be an item sink, breaking down magical items you find opposed to just leaving them on the ground. It adds more dimension to the game and makes use for all those useless magic drops.
Itsnot really a gamble because you arent risking much
It cost gold to craft and it does get expensive

Crafting is really nice I agree, has the same charm of gambling, but it gives you the idea to be more active in the process.
I think thats what all these type of game essentially are. The addiction your feeling is almost identical to the gambling addiction.
And now you can sell your items for real money every time you kill a boss its like pulling the lever on a gambling machine.
Also, Unlike MMO's Diablo's existence is not, nor ever will be dependent on population, and that also makes it very appealing.
