For when the game comes out, I'll split my time between all of them. Mostly PvE when I level up and PvP will be my endgame. But for this beta, just PvP because I do not want to spoil my PvE experience, for when I actually get the bloody game.

I think World PVP for this weekend will give you a feel for the PVE without spoiling it, but i so want to EXPLORE

    Too little time for PVP.

I will just try to PVE some and get general feeling of the game

For me things are different: I like farming quests / progressing my storyline / or in general do PvE at most of time, whenever there is WvW I'll join (I think there will be cooldown between WvW so I'll join whenever its possible) and when it comes to structured PvP or some dungeons runs with guild I'm always in... So I think I won't miss anything in the game. :)

I will be doing PvE most exclusively for the following reasons:

    • Its been a very long time since a game focused on Exploration as the core fundemental gameplay element has come along.  Even though alot of things are different from Asherons Call I think GW2 is as close to a spiritual successor to an AC as a game can get.  Both games focus on exploration and hunting in an changing world.

    • I love the unknown and in a Dynamic World I am pretty confident that the DE's I play throughout Beta will change or be different by the time release hits.

I will however refrain from playing a Norn during the Beta Phases to leave thoze zones and the storylines fresh for release.  I am still debating hwat class I play for release, right now its between a Warrior, Thief or a Mesmer so I intend to play all 3 during the Betas to get a feel for which I prefer.

Even though I love PvP and for the last 3 years (first in WoW and then in Rift and SWTOR) 99% of my endgame experience has been in PvP I doubt I will ever set foot in a structured PvP battleground in GW2 as its to similar to the above and will prolly taint what enjoyment I may gain.  SO any amount of PvP in GW2 will more then likely be spent in WvW but not untill I have feasted on the Dynamic Event system and all the wonders a truely explorable world will offer in Tyra.

Going to try to split up the time among all three. But I say that now, it might be a gifferent story when I actually get in the game.

  • ArchaegeoArchaegeo Member UncommonPosts: 233

Zylax, if you explore now though, what do you do when you have to restart at launch? You ruin your supper if you eat desert now.

I voted equally split. When my family are playing we'll probably work through PvE content and when I'm up late on my own at night I'll be doing WvWvW... if the WvWvW is pretty barren because of the time I'll do some structured PvP.

I won't be getting involved with any guilds so start with, I like them to get established first so I have more to choose from.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Structured PvP in a Warfront/Battleground scenario will hopefully go the way of the Dodo, I feel it has added greatly to the woes of MMO's since FOR-FREAKING-EVER.

I will mostly PvE because to me that's the best part of these games.  I love running through the story line and exploring the game.  Although, WvWvW looks like a lot of fun so I probably won't be able to resist that!  Regular PvP doesn't do much for me though....

I am skipping the Norn area.  Seeing as the level cap for the Beta is 20 We also sont see much of the upper level areas.  There will be lots of areas to explore the Norn and Charr areas come release.  (or at least I hope there will be lol)

Definately the WvW for me.  It's really the only thing drawing me in (I REALLY miss me some DAOC)  Hopefully they'll get it right - at the start - and not take 3 years to fix it up so that it's finally somewhat fun (ala WAR).

Structured PVP holds absolutely no interest for me.  I just find small scale pvp no fun at all.

I will of course explore the storyline, but my main goal will be setting up shop as permantly as the game allows in WvW :D

While I will eventually have at least one of each class, and I will be taking part in each and every in game activity to varying degrees, I think it is a bit of a stretch to claim GW2 is three games in one.

And people wonder why others claim GW2 is over hyped hehe.

I dont think GW2's structured pvp will compare to WoW, Rift or TOR. In those games gears and levels dictate most of the matches, in GW2 just like in GW gear and level doesn't really play a role. Also you have way less skills at your disposal making combats IMO more tactical and more balanced since this makes the balancing act for Anet way more feasable.

lol, I doubt that will be the case in GW2. Lets remember the history with GW, its mainly a pvp game and to be more specific a structured pvp game. They have expressed their sentiments with GW2, they made many desicions around the game based solely on structured pvp. Sorry to break the news, but structure pvp is one of the main focuses of GW2 image

    Well spoken.

It's one of the industry's biggest burdens: peoples' expectations that there HAS to be a battleground option in a mmorpg and developers being scared to leave it out (and secretly glad with the extra timesink because it saves them developing new, more creative pvp options).

Enter repetitiveness, enter queues, enter artificial instanced gameplay, enter best-in-game pvp gear rewards to keep the grind bareable, enter whinage over every perceived class imbalance ...

I hope that Anet won't make the mistake that WvW isn't rewarding enough compared to "PVP in a Can" options.

Pvp in a Can simply misses 3 out of six letters in mmorpg.

I am skipping the Norn area.  Seeing as the level cap for the Beta is 20 We also sont see much of the upper level areas.  There will be lots of areas to explore the Norn and Charr areas come release.  (or at least I hope there will be lol)

Are you sure the level cap is set at 20? I havn't heard anything saying that. The zones available go from level 1-25 and the dungeon is level 30. I'm pretty sure you can get over level 30 unless there's something I've missed.

Seince when was the level cap said to be 20? I havn't heard anything about it. The zones available go from level 1-25 and the dungeon is level 30. I'm pretty sure you can get over level 30 unless there's something I've missed.

The level 30 dungeon is located in a lower level zone and in order to enter the Dungeon you need to talk to a NPC who will sidekick your level up.

Thats how it worked for the press.. but not for the general public testers in the past. People in the previous invite only weekend definately got over level 20.

    Good luck!

In whichever form of the game you decide to play as for me i am going to try to go strickly WvW but in all honesty going with just one thing is easier said than done especially for you first timers, this game is like a gaming amusement park and the truth is that its all fun...;)

    Playing GW2..

  • ArchaegeoArchaegeo Member UncommonPosts: 233

It really is 3 games in one because you can level up by solely doing one of the three.  If you couldnt I might agree with you.

But you can go into WvW and never leave there and level up to 80 getting items appropriate to your level as you go. (and of course you fight as an 80 the entire time anyway).

Same for the structured PvP and of course PVE.

The only thing you would miss not doing the pve is the personlized story, which imho, is kinda a small 4th game because its all instanced, sorta the single player GW2 (even though you can drag friends along if you want)

I spent the last half hour looking for it and I cant find it anywhere but yesterday I read somewhere the level cap for this phase is 20.  Sorry I will look again later.

Only the personal story content caps at level 20, after that it's locked and will be unlocked when the game goes live.

So I guess you also think EQ2 and V:SoH are multiple games rolled into one as well.
