Any notice that most of the CE GW2 Is only Temporary?

PsylacusPsylacus Member Posts: 13

So normally I rush out and buy a digital collectors edition of whatever MMO I am playing because I love goodies ;)

However I noticed for 20 dollars more most of the things you get are only one time temporary use things.

Seems kinda disapointing... I am sure there is someone else who has talked about this, but just finding it.

Anyway else agree and just going to buy the regular edition or am I missing something?

for this reason and others i got the very standard edition.

intend to give them more monetary support if i enjoy the game!

As is the majority of stuff in a CE. Personally as nice as the figurine would be, I'll really after the art book, and that's available seperately so I'm pretty happy with that. Kind of a shame not having a new big old box for the collection however.

Yar I know why I would by the Physical CE!

I was more or less wondering about the Digital CE :)!!!

They just want to tease you with that stuff. It's hard to miss convenience once you've experienced it. That's also why I don't think the CE is worth the +100 (whatever currency).

Ya, I wonder if those items that are part of the collectors will be in the store later....

I think the digital deluxe edition is pretty lackluster, actually.  Those temp bonuses just don't do it for me.  I'm only interested in things I can look back on after a few years because it kind of reminds me of where I came from.  A bit of history that I can always appreciate.  It's why I decided ultimately to go for the full CE.  The goodies are great and (I feel) a great value.  The DDE just doesn't offer enough of a benefit to elevate it above the standard edition, so next stop, CE.

I'm pretty sure that was part of the design of the packages too.  It's like ordering pizza.  The medium is never as good a value as a small or large, so if you're real hungry, you're encouraged to upsize.

Sorry for the little off topic, is "The Art of Guild Wars 2" book they sell on their shop the same as the one in the CE?

Those 20 dollars or euros extra that you would spend on the DD would be better spent on buying Gems, at least in that way you could acquire permanent items such as Dye or Town Clothes.

Bought it for the elite skill, Rytlock mini, and to give them extra cash up front.

I paid the extra 20 (even if they are temporary/useless) for the Deluxe just to give Anet more of my money.

Seems that quite of a lot of others also are thinking the same thing.

I want the CE physical edition, but as some other have said maybe its

better to use it on other things. I wonder whats going to be in the cash shop

    other than clothes.

My thinking was that the items in the CE and DDE would be cash shop items. Obviously I don't know this for sure. Just a hunch. This way people get to use cash shop items and get warmed up to the idea of purchasing them.

We should know more soon unless Arenanet keeps the cash shop under wraps until closer to launch.

The elite skill and pet will last forever, but I'm pretty sure that the elite skill is just there to give players an early elite skill so that they won't have to wait for all those skillpoints to fill up the elite slot. The mini-pet will be good forever. To me it is basically just a head-start kit that doesn't really hold much value.

Sorry if I insist, but can someone point me to where they sell the CE book separately please?

    Pretty please?

Pretty please with sugar on top?

The digital deluxe is not a CE at all. See the 20 bucks extra as a RMT shop bonus instead.

The CE is about the artbook, the soundtrack album and the Rytlock miniature.

The digital deluxe edition just seems silly to me- better to use the money for gems as stated or for other cash shop things like extra character slots, etc. But hey, fools and their money...

i agree + i like big pizza's = full CE for me aswell, the artbook + statue are amazing to look back at after a few years :)  ( 3 weeks ago i looked up my factions CE and it's reallly great checking all those old things out again :))

Yes...and it made me feel better about decisions the company is making(cash shop specifically).

  • terrantterrant Member Posts: 1,683

Personally, I don't feel the DDeluxe edition was a good value. The mini-pet and the elite skill weren't worth 20 bucks to me, and even the item-gem-cash value of teh temporary items wasn't enough.

The CE was...those figures are NOT cheap. Nor are printing costs for the art and the book. But it was just too expensive for me to afford.

This. I'm pretty disappointed by the digital CE, which is usually the version i spring for in most anticipated games.  Just feels like they're suckering you into the cash shop upfront, instead of actually feeling like something "collectible".  Bought the standard.

That's why i just got the standard edition instead.  I didn't like what was offered with the in-game items.
