TERA EU and area chat abuse
i put a complaint in a few days ago about the chat in EU beta.there were a lot of racist remarks and abuse from certain low lifes who frequent mmo's but in particular about area chat in Tera in EU, this was there response.question is ,is this just a standard response or are frogster games normally like this.i guess i would like your opinions on this.
Hello Kevin, Thank you for your feedback. We will monitor the official chat logs and also use a chat filter to pretend other players from such conversations. But is it necessary that other players report us things like this because we can not control everything in the game. Thank you for this report and we will have a closer look at it. Last night while in beta i noticed a lot of abusive people making racist remarks.i,m kind of wondering if the chat channels are being policed by frogster or not.i am at the moment deciding weather or not to purchase the game,but in the light of what i saw in Area chat on Isle of Dawn i,m not so sure now.dont get me wrong..i really love the game,but the game depends and survives based on the community thats in it.i guess what i would like is a reassurance that once this game is released is that you will deal with these people in a way they should be dealt with for offensive and abusive remarks..look forward to hearing from you guys..have a great day guys. |

Looks to me like a standard answer.
It's Frogster... I bet they have problems monitoring their own offices.
i was shocked myself, by the amount of rubbish, trolling, insults. obsense, racists ,xenophobic or downright derrogatory comments, some people were using in the Area chat.
i had the area chat disabled everytime i made a new char, due to that.
people attacking the spaniards who used spanish language instead of english, then same happened with the polish.
i do hope they really start taking a more active role , moderating their own servers.
hopefully most of the trolls gonna be busy now getting ready to troll GW2.
well in respect to the spanish theme.i did a post on that saying that instead of them being english servers they should change them to EU to accomodate those guys,they have to play somewhere.i suppose on saturday i will find out if some nasy people will remain in-game and try to troll and bait others.
there seems to be a huge Community of spaniards in Tera. they should add, a pve, and a pvp spanish servers for them. the demand is there.
i don't have a problem with people using their native languages in area chat. but as soon as it turns into a constant babel tower madness. is when i turn it off right away.
Only the rich trolls, I doubt people will pay 60 bucks to bash in-game.

apparentely they could'nt get a licence for spanish language .so i,m led to believe.

its not so much the spanish or polish its more that if it is an english server they should talk english....if they dont know english just ask if there is like a channel or something, i mean i dont mind if they asked if there was some kind of channel/guild for their language but if they have whole conversations in an public channel then ya....i will make those remarks

i,m not sure but in-game is there not the ability in chat to create channels.i know its an english server and yes they should speak english.but they must have known that if there are no channels for the polish,spanish then they have to go somewhere to play..surely something can be done to accomodate these guys so they can play on any server,ie create channels specificly for them..i maybe wrong,its just an idea.
Yes you can create channels. IIRC is /make <name> <xxxx> where xxxx is a 4 digit code for private channels

the least frogster can do is add channels. but is easier for a butterfly to turn into a super model, than frogster doing anything good lol
There is no need to ever make racist remarks because someone isn't speaking your language, if more people like yourself would use the block function included in almost every MMO there wouldn't be as many childish arguments popping up. That being said, Frogster should have foreseen that in the European service that there would be a large portion of non-English speakers.
A simple setup of extra area chat channels for alternate languages could fix that easily.
You can make your own channels in TERA.
During the OBT I did one for Spanish speaking folk.
SWTOR had the same ''problem'' then after awhile it whent away because ppl made their own channels for their own langauge so ye it got fixed by itself
Doubt many people spend 60 unrefundable dollar to troll. Tera only had so many Troll because cbt and obt was so easy to get in to. Which is a good thing, I can ignore the troll and enjoy the game even if i didn't re-order (even though i did on the first week of announcement =P)
Idk wasn't as bad on NA server, well ofc cbt 1 was bad but after that beside the occuaional troll or my friend not really so much. Seriously he obviously baiting them and people react to strongly when ever he type something like as if the freaken president typed it or something lol.
