Catacombs

This was the worst expansion pack ever..for any game. It completely ruined the whole experience for a few reasons.

1). Instance dungeons...with the addition of these NOBODY goes and plays in any other parts of the game anymore...so you're alone on everything you do except for RVR which is ruined by...

2) The addition of vampiirs and bainshees....if you have played the game you know they are WAY too good...and should be nerfed if they haven't been already.

3) The graphics "facelift" looks so ugly...and it makes my computer lag horribly.

I really wish this expansion never took place because now games like WoW - what I'm currently - playing are so inferior to the early DAoC...I wish they'd make a pre-catacombs expansion.

Although I disagree with you, your points are valid. It is pretty true that everyone who has catacombs goes to the dungeons and leaves all the great old places to hunt empty.

I like vampires and banshees since i am a hibby myself. I can't remembe which realm i think albion has some caster class with some kind of exploding orb that was seriously overpowered, but they fixed that.

the graphics look good to me other than the furbolgs face. It looks like a mix of freddy cruger and a turd that has been stepped on.

People would argue though that trials of atlantis was the worst expansion ever.

Yeah I say just get over it, I love the new instances because you don't have to travel half the map to get the kind of mob you want to fight then once you level go to the other side of the map. Your obviously not a hibby so your tired of getting wtfpwned by them. Vampiirs are really easy if you have heat resist, and bainshees... basically just don't get to close image. Seeing how I myself and a hibby, I  think that warlocks are the op'ed ones but i'm not calling for a nerf. image

Catacombs, aside from the graphics upgrade, was horrible period. It totally made all other areas but instances obsolete which ishorrible. I dont know about you, but I dont pay and play this game so I can fight in a boring instances 24/7. At 40+ it's even worse. They should of at least tried to make the instances entertaining and challenging. You hardly pull adds.

By my understanding, instances were a welcomed feature, nothing worse than having your kill stolen and losing the item it dropped...

image If you don't like instances... Don't go in them. If anything it would just be good news for those who don't like the instances seeing as all the other areas wont be as camped. And I usually don't us the instances after level 20 anyway. I just go to the BG's and level there. I also like the new Darkspire with the great new weapons. The aurulite helps lower level toons who can't afford to have sc'ed or even any good armor. Really instancing isn't that much different from camping other things, unless your a caster. I do think that instances are not caster friendly. But even so... I would rather pull a mob and get good xp in the dungeon than pull a mob outside of the dungeon and get crappy xp. So overall I would give the catacombs expansion a 9/10 score just because the instances are not caster friendly. image

It really funny about instances.  I thought they would 'ruin' the game, but how they did them I really like.  The problems you and others have on the game you blame on the latest expansion but in reality the problems were already there.

When the game came out, everyone was in CM (or whatever dungeon equivelant it would be for the other realms).  It was camped to hell and there was no camp bonus.  You had to be lucky to get into a good spot.  There were a few others areas you could go to but they were far away and very dangerous.  If you were not in CM, then you would be at the Finn tree usually from 48-50.  There used to be a 'list' to get to go to the Finn tree and depending on your class you are looking at anywhere from a 2 hour wait to never.

SI comes out and people go look around.  They hit a few dungeons now and then, and then people go back to the old routine.

ToA.  No reason to go there but ML, Artifacts, and scrolls.

Catacombs.  Outside of the veil, no one really does catacombs.

So here is my point.  Mythic adds a lot of content and players never use it.  Or I should say a decreaing amount of the player base uses the zones.

All a lot of people ever wanted to do was sit in one spot and kill.  CM being camped so much really left players with no option.  Now they can log into instances and do gridning there.  That is why they are popular.  The instances encourage grouping.  The more there are the higher the level mobs there are.  Further you get an instance bonus that raises with each player.  So it is better to take a FG through one of those than a FG in CM.

The reason you think Cats is bad is because you think it is responible for the areas being empty and no groups.  In reality that is caused by declining population.

    Vamps/Bainshee are not overpowered.

Graphics look so much better than before.
