Final Fantasy 11, is it worth it?

KaytaroKaytaro Member Posts: 7

Is this game goin to be worth paying for? I mean for ps2 owners its goin to be like 300 bucks plus a monthly fee.Well i for one like all the final fantasy games i've played but since its goin to be online there isnt goin to be any major storyline or plot for it. Just a bunch of noobs that dont know what the heck to do. Well ive heard and had proof that its goin to be for pc too so im probally goin to get that.

I believe it will be worth it for the PC version.  Unless you plan on using your ps2 hard drive for other things i wouldn't do it., and for those who remember me or give a damn, I'm back.

It's not gonna be that much and the hdd is going to be used in other games so it will be worth the money. It will be alot cheaper tghan $300 thats how much it costs to import it I highly doubt that it will be more than $150 and thats easy money if you have a job its like 2 day work (not whole day either)imageso I belive it will be worth it b/c it really won't cost that muchimage

In my opinion, Square does games right, therefor it will be worth it.  I'll most likely be getting the PC version.  And even kids can earn enough allowance in a week (or less) to pay the monthly fee.

I am going to be getting the PC version as well, if I am not playing something else by the time it comes out.  There are so many games coming out in the near future, Horizons, WoW, EQ2(not getting this one for sure), it is going to be hard to pick which one to play.

I love Final Fantasy and hope this online game will be as good as the other games they have released.

I'm getting Windows and PS2 version only because I don't want the Windows people to get ahead of me. Once the PS2 version comes out, me or my sister will use that, and the other person will use the Windows version.

first of all  is you people knew anything you would know that there is a majior rpg to ffki  go to a site call rpg.fan and read it there is a majior plot to the whole game and i think it is worth the 12.95 a moth but the olny draw back is that you lony get one char for the 12.95 but it is $1.00 for ech added char and $1.00 for the card min game

  • TidaneTidane Member Posts: 34
Its not a mini-game, its seperate from FFXI. There's no reason to get more than one character, if you read the specs on the servers they use, you'd see why they need $13 a month if they want to make money.

I totally agree that Square has their stuff together, I have yet to see a Square game that doesn't meet my expectations (then again I dont think I've played them all :p) but even the weird ones (if anyones played Ehrgeiz, btw awesome game... well its actually a buncha games).

PS. Yes I played FFVIII and was a lil disapointed but thats only because it followed FFVII... and what game could top that !?!?!

1st point made I took up was kids cant afford the monthly fee.....FANTASTIC.
2nd point its got the words Final Fantasy in the title.......no arguments there

Unfortunately, 1 character for that money a month??? This means you cannot own a warrior and a mage at the same time without paying extra, come one this isnt on, but then again its a clever way to make even more money than they already will.......god damn them money hungry game producers

its not all that squalr wants more money (some of it is though) but mostly the monshley fee will go towards makeing the game better adding more quests and monsters to the game and sending them right to your ps2 without you having to buy an extra game no really this game could be like ever quest and not do anything and make you pay a monthly and still make you buy the upgrades but with this game the monthly fees a paying people to make the game better keep there servers running (which I might add will be expensive when they get around 30 servers) It makes it so there is those gm people to help you it pays for the verry smart people who will try to make this game hack proof so it your decision have a crapy game (like ever quest (that my opinion)) and still pay the monthly fees or have a really awsome game and pay .75 cents for each extra chacterimage

Unlimited Saga.... a Square/Enix game... definetly a "different" type of game and so far the only one I've been majorly let down by.

You many have only one char but you can change your class any time you want. your stats and skills reflect the class you pick but you can play to a high lev war and want to solo as a red mage at lev one for fun.
extra char are nice but not need as much as in other games to be able to play other classes different classes
the story in the game is awesome. you get missions and quests both kept in a log.  both have cut scenes that include great stories and dialog.  There are even hidden quests to that you have to pay attention to dialog and conversations between npcs to figure out.

Really I see why they would charge 12.95 a month for a great server like that with no lag and I mean none. Im on dial-up(AOL) and that is the crappiest dial-up you can have and I have had no lag at all. So I will buy the game but not the HDD.

Personally, I'm still debating whether or not it's worth it.

I wonder how the element of MMORPG is going to do to feel of the classic Final Fantasy series... Final Fantasy is a cash-cow ('cept for maybe FFVIII - that game was just plain bad image) and I'm hoping for Square's sake, that the classic game dynamics aren't ruined because this incarnation of the series is coming online on a massive-multiplayer scale.

Looks interesting - gotta keep my eyes peeled for this one.

You need to add "Both" To that poll.

And for getting close to bashing VIII, I despise you. Everyone hated the game, 'cept me, I liked it. Not as much as VI or VII, but I liked it.

Also, if you read any reviews from the BETA or importers, they say it has the Final Fantasy feel.

I'm in the beta. It has the Final Fantasy feel. If you have any questions about the game feel free to ask me. This seems like a good place to discuss this since the discussion here may sway your opinion either way.

Uhm..Samusic does the NDA allow this?

FFXI looks teriffic, but as with all mmorpg's you're not one of the main chars, you're just a face in the crowd. And thats whats keeping you from really getting into the story. A lot of mmorpg's feel like work eventually. kill rat with stick, level up, kill bigger rat with bigger stick, etc. so let's hope FFXI will bring us more

I can talk about stuff that is general knowledge about the game. I can't talk about the beta test itself. There are missions that you can do to get you into the storyline. FFXI is very much about being a part of a team or being a team leader. Also, SE has said that they will implement PvP when they feel it fits into the storyline.

Which will hopefully never happen, as PvP is followed by cheaters. Anyway, FFXI is the only MMORPG I've like that actually has story...well...I can't really read the story, but it has it. I can tell by the look. If only I was JPN.
