In any game ever. Not mmo. Game.
Elementalist and Warrior are so much fun in WvW. I really enjoyed ranger too. WvW itself is incredible, There might be server balances now but 2 weeks after launch, when everybody has a rank and gets matched up again.. The potential is unlimited. If Arenanet didn't announce this as early as they did, this would have been un-imagine-able a year and a half ago to alot of people.
Thief is insane in competitive PvP. Roflstomping everybody 1v1 has never been so active and entertaining. Some people say we need a nerf but remember, GW2 is balanced on team-play not 1v1s, hence the no "dueling" function. Play a dagger thief in a conquest map and you should always get the most kills, but play a dagger thief in WvW and tell me how far you get compared to almost any other class. Sword/dagger isn't too bad with the 2 skill but I wasn't feeling it as much. (this is probably just because I can't have a full build) The dps output in conquest seems kind of unbelievable but I can already see ways that I can get countered, it won't be long until people figure it out.
I have been playing this game for about 20 hours or so and I just can't stop. The only complaint I have with the game at all is the net lag but I'm sure that will be straightened out. But honestly, Thank you. Thank you for fixing this genre. If this would have failed I would have been done with MMOs for good.
Your game has lived up to every expectation and more
If WoW was released today even in its' entirety it would be f2p in 3 months.
Why is it still such a big deal?

Why?
Scale, not as much of it
Annominity, that plain sucks, good enemies are as important as good friends
Persistence, the server shuffle should be for emergency use if things get too imbalanced, not done as a matter of course every 2 weeks regardless, as again good enemies are important
Distraction, neither daoc or planetside had e"sports" for players to go hide in if rvr wasn't going their way
Purpose, needs some sort of darkness falls type reward in my opinion.
That said best game for pvp since those 2 and eve hands down.
Duels won't be in GW2 at launch but ANet promised to add them later. And no, a game can't be balanced for group vs. group when it's not balanced for 1v1. Admittedly 1v1 balance is a tad bit trickier than flat 50/50 W/L but when a class completely steamrolls any other class it's always a bad sign.
MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).
I think comparing it to Planetside is a little unfair, since PS is 100% about PvP, FPS, and base capture. GW2 has to be an RPG and have PvE, so given that it has amazingly engaging combat and PvP..
But I was definitely disappointed with the WoW-battlegrounds-like WvW in GW2. I really was imagining something more like Planetside. I think I got some videos of Archeage confused with GW2 so I had high expectations going into beta weekend.
Play as your fav retro characters: cnd-online.net. My site: www.lysle.net. Blog: creatingaworld.blogspot.com.
My 2h mace warrior decimated thief players in pvp, I was kinda worried they were underpowered to be honest. Mostly because when they go stealthed you just pull out an aoe stun, and then do some aoe snare and damage moves and the basically came out slowed and low on hp cause they thought stealth meant immune to damage and cc.
Still loved the game, awesome fun pvp.
this is what hapens when you talk about minstrels in GW2 forum.

This is not a game.
In their defense, Thief is actually not an easy class to understand. It's easy to spam and spread strikes all over, but it does require a further comprehension of skills to be really efficient. For example, I'm pretty sure half of the Thieves weren't aware of the first skill slot changing when you're stealthed (with dagger, it is backstab, doing 10 times more damage than a regular hit), and that you got 50% crit chance too.

Nothign cna beat DAOC really. It will always be at the top.
Guild Wars 2 Youtube Croatian Maniacs
My Guild Wars titles
Did not play beta, but played Darkfall for years and I doubt GW2 will beat the 200v200+ persistant battles I've seen in an FPS MMO style... Or the 50v200+ Battles... haha. Nonetheless, GW gives me the most fun out of any MMO
I played DAOC recently. I think you have a serious case of rosy glasses.
Here is my quick write up of DAOC.
"If you are spoiled by modern games you will probably dislike DAOC.
I downloaded the game to give it a try. The UI is terrible by modern standards. It was painful to use. Tab targeting is only short range. So you have to click to target on enemies in PvP. The game does a stutter when strafing and turning at the same time.
In RvR players warp all over the place. It is also possible to be one shot if you get hit by a crit. Even if you don't it is quite common to be two shot. The cc is ridiculous IMO. You can get snared or mezzed for close to a minute.
Buying stuff is also painful. It makes SWTOR's auction house look amazing in comparison.
But don't take my word for it. Grab the 14 day trial and see for yourself."
I found GW2 superior to DAOC in every way. I would wager anybody going to play DAOC after playing GW2 WvWvW would have a hard time getting into it.
DAOC has anonymity aswell yet you praise DAOC and criticize guild wars 2...strange. when DAOC and planetside were released esports was not as big as it is today.
overpowered....underpowered... Here is what I noticed after a lot of pvp in gw2 this weekend. Every class is overpowered in the hands of a player who is good with that class. You stomped everyone 1v1 with a thief, yet many felt thieves were underpowered.
You will find people thinking every class is OP either because they play it really well or because they went up against someone who played really well.
I do have to agree I found the pvp to be phenomenal. We will see if it holds up to the test of time
p.s. DaoC players, imho, have a lot of nostalgia and fond memories of their game. First love syndrome. For many, no game can surpass it. That doesn't mean that it was a better game, just that it was their first that captured their heart. That is okay. I feel bad for the ones who don't open themselves up to new experiences, because they could be missing recapturing those feelings in a different way with a different game
