Yes, that is exactly what it means. Unfortunate, but not all too surprising. At least their next games have much better support and I look forward to see how they will do.

Yeah next games...there next games  D&D online and Middle Earth Online dont have PvP. Seems kinda funny coming from the company that made Asherons Call 1 (darktide anyone?)

AC1 PvP owns. I think they realized with AC1 how much b!tching, drama, and balance issues it causes. So, they don't want to deal with it in DDO and LotRO ::::02:: That's my theory at least. Turbine claims that it doesn't fit the stories of DnD and LotR, which I can't validate because I've never played DnD and only seen the LotR movies.

Anyway, I really hope Turbine reconsiders what they are doing with AC2. Closing it down seems like such a waste. It's a ok game, if it were free, it would be the best free game by far.

Yup, I am honestly surprised they lasted this long.  They failed by not making the game even remotely close to what AC1 was.  AC1 with AC2 graphics and engine would be great.  And no PvP for their next games is a total bad idea.  They should at least have PvP servers and let the hardcore players have a choice instead of the carebear gaming.

If Turbine just made AC2 like AC1 with better graphics people would have complained about lack of innovation. "This isn't AC2, this is AC1.5." AC1 needed something other than better graphics and Turbine made some what of an attempt to improve it such as a better map, quest system, chat, and some other things. Of course it didn't all work at launch, lacked in many other areas such as housing, and buildings players can actually walk into.

I think D&D Online and Lord of the Rings Online will find audiences without PvP. D&D Online is going to be all about grouping, and there are plenty of people out there who like that kind of thing. Lord of the Rings Online is apparently going to have very "twitchy" combat, which again may appeal to some of the action gamers out there. That's aside from the enormous name recognition both franchises possess, which will more than likely sell quite a few boxes. Of course, just about everybody on the planet had heard of "The Matrix," too, so there's no guarantee of success. The two games Turbine is making differ from one another, and they differ from AC1 as well, which makes sense; you don't spend millions of dollars and thousands of man-hours developing three different games to attract one type of player. Personally, I'd really prefer that AC 1.5 -Jaguar- mentioned, but I'll just stick with AC1 until they pull the plug on it.

I thought SoE were in charge of AC2 now or something?
Its a shame if it has to close down, from what I tried of it it deserved higher numbers than it got.

AC2's demise was a result of one of the worst launches this side of Mourning. The fact that it lasted as long as it did is pretty surprising. The game also changed it's focus a few times as the lead producers changed. (Going from a RvR style team based PvP game to a PvE endless level treadmill is a pretty drastic change...) Oh well - it was a fun game, and had nice music, though the game seemed to lag really bad if you played with sound on... Anyways - I feel bad for anyone who was enjoying the game still - and hope you can find a new game to enjoy...
