First off I was a beta tester, but never bought the games after it was released. I enjoyed it and had some fun in a good outfit, just never bought it for some reason. Oh yeah now I remember...
Playing this 7 day free trial has made me remember why I never bought the game after beta. Can you believe that the game has gotten worse since the end of beta? Constant nerfing. Just about every patch nerfs at least two weapons. The dev team is still refusing to listen to the community. The only thing they have ever done that the players wanted was the latice system. They did implement a type of capture the flag system, but not for all bases. The one thing that everyone is screaming for on their forums, wich has by the way been promised since beta to the testers, is platoons. Combining 3 squads into one platoon and having one big exp share fest. What is their main goal right now? Is it to fix all the current bugs that cause a CTD, or fix the network coding that used to be so nice in beta ( in beta the servers were fuller than they are now, but yet now the lag is much worse ), or maybe they should sit down one week and finally just balance the damn game. No these are not priorities when you can allow outfits to stake clame to a base. Do the devs not realise how quickly bases change hands in this game? The continent that you locked last night can be overrun within an hour of you loging off. I mean, has reality not set in yet for the devs. When the game started out all the servers were full of raging war. Now they are sparsely populated, and the most popular server has maybe 300 people on it at peak times, probably less. The game is head for the graveyard quick, it just needs to be saved by someone with a working brain.
A big reason why I have decided I do not like this game is because of the shere lack of any type of realism. The guns are so specific. Guns kill infintry and hardly scratch anything else. A huge anti tank missle will destroy a tank in 2 shots, but takes 3 shots to kill infantry, anti aircraft missles are the same way. I dont know about you, but if a missle hit me in the chest I would be in little pieces on the floor.
The game can be fun and will keep you interested for your free month, but after that, it isn't worth much. If you get in with a good outfit, that helps a lot, just like any other MMOG. So if you like unrealistic combat, piss poor FPS, random crap lag, zerg rushing and constant kill spam; then this is your game. If you like a hint of realism in your games, then run far and fast away from this game.

Tribes is the best and will alwas be the best and I do believe that the next Unreal will have vehicles.
BTW, have you seen the ragdoll physics for the new tribes yet?

Yeah, Tribes 2 has pretty much everything that you'll find in PS in one form or another. It's pretty old though, you might have to look in the bargain bin to find it.
I subsrcibe to PS and have a real good time playing. As for bugs??? Works ok for me.

Hey, WWIIOL has Dynamic Day/Night lighting and light effects form bombs and wepaons flashes too.
I used to hate WWIIOL and left it but it is a great game now. What has me really intrigued is two things. THe graphics, specifically terrain is getting a new engine. so houses, vegatation, water and other stuff like that are going to look so much better. They said the water is going to look very very realistic but it is also going to have true wave action that affects units in a realistic way. they said making it look real was the easy part but that making it act real was the part that took effort and they are working on that now.
The other part is the 64 limit. I saw one of the Dev's say they are working on that full speed now because in a pol they did, the players overwhelmingly said that was what they wanted worked on more than anything else.
WWIIOL just keeps getting better and better with every update and trust me, I think Planetside will too.

After playing this game for about a month, I found it too be somewhat enjoyable, although my only qualm is that it does get boring after a while, of course if you play it is much as I do (4hrs+ a day) any game would. Yes there is constant nerfing, lag, zerging, but what mmo does not have all of these qualitys? Its really not THAT bad Squeee. Of course you played it in what, August, so a lot has changed since your time. Give the game some damn time to develop, jeez, it hasnt even been out for a year. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
