TERA Crafting Guide?

MajinashMajinash Member Posts: 1,320

So I know TERA's big focus is combat... which I'm liking a lot more than I thought I would.  But I also enjoy crafting in my MMOs and I'm giving TERA's a try.  My problem? a lack of guides.

I'm not talking about "fastest way to 410 guide" I mean a real "How the crafting system works guide".  The in game guide is completely lacking, the guide on their site is slightly better but still leaves out a whole lot.

I've been forced to google "TERA crafting" which makes me super nervous about hitting a bad site, but even the best guides I could find from that (TERA EU forums had a good one) still leave out a lot of the answers I'm looking for, like what "Elligible as a template" means on crafted items.  And apparently EME got rid of the "crafting" forums on their site, so can't ask there.

Does anyone know of a good guide out there?  I'd love to start churning out underpowered items asap.

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

    Ahh Crafting...

Wait until the highest level harvestables start coming out on the market readily (which shouldnt take too long) before crafting any real items and IGNORE the starting quest -- the starting quest costs far too much for your points.

Next you want to do the harvesting refines.  This will take you to 250 in any craft(see last paragraph if you chose a leather using profession).

While you were waiting for the harvestables -- you want to be out collecting paverunes in midlevel places.  You will need a pallet-load of them and the ones you want generally drop only in dungeons and off bams.  Collect them and buy any you find (unfortunately you cant set up buying pets like you could in beta which was a great way to get them).

Then the real issues begin -- skilling post 250 means you have to actually make items take your 100+ rare paverunes and start making items.  People generally wont want many of them until you can craft higher tier stuff since you can't craft higher quality items in lower tiers.

Oh -- there is one caveat.  Leather.  Metal is easy easy, cloth is easy easy, Leather not so much.  If your crafting requires leather you want to farm the daylights out of low level areas getting enough of the low level leather to level yourself.  While other people are doing all the quests in the isle of the dawn -- find a good repeatable that goes against animal monsters and do it over and over for your levels.

    Maj,

I also have been quite confused about the crafting.. After seeing your post, I googled and stumbled on this site... Looks to have a good overview of everything.
