It still has issues, but I would happily continue to play it until it is released. I had more fun this weekend and played with more people than I have in a LONG time in MMOs.

I wasn't even really looking forward to this game. I assumed I'd buy eventually just because it doesn't have a subscription, but other than that I barely paid attention to any of it until I decided to pre-purchase because I was bored this weekend. I'm hooked! I don't want to play anything else now and I'm having withdrawals!

It's been a long road and many games since 1999 with each game losing a bit more of that magic. Plenty of fun because I simply like these games, but it's been a while since I've felt any excitement to play. This game... for some reason it's there again.

    I completely agree.

Sad admission: While looking through my screen shots, I kept trying to rotate the scene, click on teleport points and check my friends list. True story. :)

That is not an actual issue. It is just incompetent people in beta, not utilizing the siege equipment available. Like the cheapest one, the Battering Ram does 8,000dmg to a gate, whereas your standard auto attack does 30-50dmg. That's a huge difference.

Game played  great for  me, some people may need to upgrade their PC or build new systems. I mean  if you guys wanna wait till the game is flawless in your eyes before release good luck  no mmorpg is gonna be flawless at release this game will be in development as long a Duke nukem forever if you expect that.. I think the game ran great and seemed very optimized..

I see no reason for their not to be a summer release from what i played.

  • XzenXzen Member UncommonPosts: 2,607
Nope. Even though I thought it was fun the pain in the arse dealing with the overflow servers to party with friends is game breaking. If thats fixed in the next BWE I might be closer to agreeing with you.

As bad as my withdrawal is and as bad as i would love to play this very minute i would still say it is ready when anet says it is ready..

It is very likely that anet took on prepurchases to begin with as a way to bring in enough cash to convince ncsoft to be patient and to get the required resources to finish the game the right way and i am all in rather this is the case or not..

Its ready when anet says it is...

I really wouldnt honestly expect to see GW2 released before august...

    Playing GW2..

Heh... reminds me of the two rams people were building at a gate of ours, and they failed to take out the burning oil first. I enjoyed toasting them.

    Oderint, dum metuant.

Uhh no, your standards must be pretty low.  This game needs allot of work still, I will being checking the next beta in hopes they have made improvements.

I think people exagerate a bit when they say things like.. "The game is far from ready" and "It needs a lot of work".

The game worked well, ran well and was pretty damn complete in my eyes. I'm still holding out for a June/July release date.

    Totally agree.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

Likely 1 open beta per month until closer to launch.  We had April, 1 in May and probably 1-2 in June but the game is at least 3 months away.  I dont think we will see it before September, August at best.

No hurry on my part I would rater they NOT follow in the footsteps of other games released too soon, and not follow in TORs example. I don't mmo hop anyway, I can wait until its polished, besides the only mmos that interest me are this one and World of Darkness.

I'm willing to wait for a finished product

Disagree. This game as it stands is better than most that have been released for years.

    I think it's the whole:

    No one has publicly seen/tested 30 - 80 content.

No one has publicly seen/tested 2 full starting areas.

No one has publicly seen/tested 7/8 dungeons.

All the balancing, bugs and tweaks that will need to be made to that content makes me very skeptical about an earlier release.

i wouldn't expect thorough public testing of all of the content.

we may very well not see any of the high level content or sylvari/asura stuff until release.

not every game does thorough public testing of 100% of its content before release and we just have no way of knowing what they have done or plan to do internally.

Yeah, but it makes me skeptical.

If they released the game, and said = you are actually playing beta (like most F2P games do)

I would not mind at all...

    But it wont happen

They got money with prepurchases anyway

I would play it, if they released it but honestly, I'd rather wait. I got a real taste of the game during the BWE and loved it. I rather wait and play the finished product. I will take part in future BWEs but I think that I will focus on WvWvW PvP so as to not spoil the PvE game for myself at launch.

Well, usually the marketing people push the development team to give a release date, so the norm is that a release date is something that is announced as soon as possible.

In this case, either the marketing team is not strong enough to push for a release date or the developers have convinced the marketing that the game has so many issues still, that no release date is yet possible.

Which is my biggest concern really. Usually in all big projects there is always an internal schedule, which in turn dictates the announced release date. It seems that Anet has stumbled into an unforseen issue with no clear solution which is big enough to hold off the announcement of a release date.

Releasing now would be a disaster. The game has more bugs than a new york hotel

I agree with this and it's what allows me to remain hopeful that the game can make a late June release.

Reading some of the bug reports during WBE1, a number of them had replies from devs saying that those things had already been fixed on the internal build of the game, but just hadn't made it in in time for the WBE. They already made progress with connection/capacity issues, lag and marketplace/gem store connectivity just in the 60 hours of WBE.

Are there still some bugs to squash, kinks to work out, balancing ,performance optimization and final polish needed for the content we did have access to? Definitely. However, I expect that those issues will largely be addressed in time for the next WBE and the level 1-30 content will be pretty close to release worthy at that point.

We do know that Arenanet have heavily hinted that a good portion of the game will be tested and polished outside of the public beta process. How far along are all those zones we haven't seen yet? All those dungeons as well? We just don't know. They could be almost as finished as what we saw in WBE 1, or they could still need several more months.

I'm mentally prepared for the game to not come out until Q4, but I still have a realistic hope we could see it by early Q3.

I'll purchase the game when they put a release date on it. Only playing the weekend and then having to stop again is just infuriating. As far as i'm concerned they could launch with a few bugs as long as i could continue playing.

    WOW,eq2,Vanguard,WAR,LOTRO,AOC,Rift Aion, SWTOR, TERA.

    Currently playing GW2.
