Hey,

I really like to explore MMO's and was wonder how large and diverse is the world? How is it compared to Lord of the Rings or something like that?

Thanks!

as far as i can tell.. it's damn big :P

i am lvl31, which only did 2 zones of quests, and each zone kinda divided into 204 subzones, they felt quite different.

    edit---

    sorry, 2-4 subzones :P

Ok, that seems pretty good. I'm really on the fence on this game. I'm not really interested in GW2 and I'm bored of swtor, and want a new mmo to play, but with diablo 3 coming this month I'm not certain I want to spend the money now.

    Too many games Damn it!

Too bad you missed the open beta weekend, it was just a few days ago. Right now game servers are down (at least the EU) in preparation for the release in the 3rd of May.

I highly recommend this MMO. My only gripe about it so far are that the starting zone is a bit lackluster. The weird thing about this game is that it seems to get more fun the higher the level I get. Most games I get bored of leveling at like 25-30, but still just grind it out. I never seem to feel like im grinding at all. I do the quests, which are your typical quests, but the leveling doesn't feel painfully grindy at all. The open world pvp is pretty fun too if you roll on a PvP server. My first encounter was pretty funny actually. I was turning in a quest, and some guy my same level starts kicking my butt. So we start fighting and he wins. He said good fight and i replied good fight but you got me turning in a quest. Then he apologized and rezzed me. Then we dueled, and now he's on my friends list. Fun stuff!

been playing since CB2  and still haven't been able to explore the entire main continent.   there other continent is not available in the betas.

simply huge.  you could spend hours riding around from zone to zone.  and yes no loading screen whatsoever

The world is massive and beautiful to look at. Some of the art designs are just stunning. For instance the multicoloured trees in the faerie pond part look like something from Willy WOnkas chocolate factory. But the beauty of this world is every zone has its appeal and looks different to another. If you got a high end system you'll enjoy it even better.

The world is stunning and incredibly varied from location to location.  I love exploring too, and the world just begs to be explored.  Check out my Tera Gallery, i went exploring and these are just some of the places on the first continent.

Skyrim is not a good game for machine performance checks, as it was optimised with 7 year old consoles in mind. BF3 maxed out or a similarly good looking PC title would give you a better idea of your machine's performance.

Do the different areas in this game present varied geography,ie.: Mountains, swamps, jungle, praries, etc.?Do the mobs have a lot of variety?

You do seem to have all types of area represented, sunny grasslands, murky swamps, forests, mountains etc.. but you also have areas that dont really come under any general description as you've pretty much never seen anything like it.

Here's a Video of a region called Essenia - you can see the variation in just this one zone.  Watch in HD :)

The Mobs all seem to belong in their areas, nothing really seems out of place.  There are some reskinned models and such in use but it's never really been an issue for me.  Also the BAM's are just awesome..

Just one thing to note - is that the game doesn't have a day / night cycle, but it's not really an issue as the various areas all have their own distinct atmosphere so you'll probably not notice it anyway.

Some Areas seemed corridorish (i made that up if it wasn't a word already) but its not terribly noticable until you go to other places. The Fairie Forest is a good example of it. It feels like a large forest, but a lot of it just seems to tunnel you around until you come back to Lumbertown. When you go into Valley of the Titans, that is where you see the difference and it feels large. There is a ton of areas to explore, and i wouldn't be surprised if later on they develop an day/night transition later on, as well as more land masses outside of the two continents.

Gosh, awful experience. I guess that makes me insane. I've run through the area many times in K-TERA, the EU and NA betas and now I'm getting ready to set out again.

See, the way I look at it is I don't place importance on tasks (yellow quests) as many other people do. They allow me to level up without having to kill the same monsters over and over again.

I log in and I'm lost in this impossible world where the sounds immerse me in such a way that I forget about my dreary existence for a while.

Isn't that why we game? And you know what else? I manage to lose myself in any kind of game whether it be Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur, Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, Star Wars: the Old Republic and many other games.

That I don't play WoW or TOR any more has nothing to do with the quests or the leveling experience.
