no all it actually does different is middle screen crosshair wich follows our turning so it has nothing to do with aiming.
everything else is just standard with sweetypie graphics and half naked chicks maybe thats the major reason guys plays it.

People are entitled to their opinion indeed, but they should talk about things they actually know, talking about end game when no one know what's there, if not korean players, is ridicolous.
I am really impressed by this game, and loved the betas. I love their designs and ideas for late game play. If I were to play any MMO right now it would be Tera. Unfortunately Diablo 3 is out in 2 weeks and then Guild Wars 2 before long with no subs and I have a newborn so I just don't have the time. This is one I will definitely play down the road though.
I've been playing it up to level 22 and so far I think the combat is good and the graphics are stunning, but its just the races and the classes. The quests I find very boring, the story isn't interesting at all for me so I guess its just GW2 to look at. But each to their own opinion, we all have different tastes. Perhaps later during the year I'll sub to it and have a look again.
Here's one person (the OP) who's enjoying himself and people will say anything to bring him down.
Can you imagine a world in which we all liked the same things, felt and thought the same?
In all fairness, forums are for PVP and by creating this thread the OP was challenging others to prove his viewpoint as incorrect. (or at least why they disagree with him)
TERA is fun to play for some of us to be sure, but to expect it to appeal to everyone is unrealistic and to declare it as the next great innovation in MMO's isn't fair either.
I enjoy it for several reasons, the combat model for one (I enjoy combat in MMO's more than anything else) and some of the little things like insta-mounts and some of the scenery.
Will it last forever? No game does, but I'm sure it will keep me busy until my next MMO, likely GW2 or TSW.
Forum PvP hehe
The way I saw it is people know the kind of feedback TERA's getting and they're trying to compensate for that.
But like you said, forum PvP. We always end up arguing about the same things as before.
Meh, just let your eyes pass over them. They thrive on the negative attention, sad to say.
I'm just happy to see so many people are having fun with this. I'm just biding my time until my boxed copy arrives tomorrow so I can unlock my Digital Deluxe edition in-game items. That lion mount goes way faster than the pre-order Pinto.
/_____ All it has over normal MMO's is combat? So....You haven't actually played TERA then? Get a clue, there's a fair few more features then just good combat which TERA has over standard MMO's.
But yes, TERA does get better and better.

I just can't with people giving out misinformation which then someone else takes and runs with it, further spreading misinformation or trivializing what Bluehole studios has achieved tech wise.
Don't forget: people used to say any of this wouldn't be possible in an MMO in 2012 with top notch graphics!
Basically the aiming reticule has five looks depending on what you're targeting and what skills you're activating. For the Priest, Mystic, and Archer, they will see the "Lock On Targeting" options of #3 and #4 in addition to the others as they're the only classes that have a targetable skill.
1. Passive (no mob/target behind selected, four-point crosshairs)
2. Active with Target Available (mob/target behind it, clear center, dark gray circle, can attack/interact with target)
3. Lock-On Active, Looking for Target (four-point crosshairs, white circle inside)
4. Lock-On Target Possible (center white circle changes size to show locking on, outside is a full gray circle)
5. Target Damaged (red circle with open center, you just damaged what was targeted)
Overall, I think the reticule changes are dynamic and clear enough that it's easy to tell what's going on. It's a great feedback system in place for aiming. You can see all of the five looks in this video: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=uZkL4UBw3lE.
When you're fighting a mob/BAM as an archer for example, it matters very much where you aim when facing their backs. There was a nice picture of a BAM with his back marked up, explaining the different zones one should aim for for maximum damage. But that archer guide post needs to be updated again, ever since the EU forum change.
I'm trying out a priest right now, I can aim any direction I want and it matters. There are these small mobs all up on my feet. My AoE is on cooldown so I just use my main attack. They're at my feet but if I want to hit them with my main attack I have to aim down.

Heh, I have to agree, the most annoying thing to target is those crappy small mobs scuttling all about your feet, regardless what class you are playing. (love my Mystic's AOE for cleaning up the trash)
Thanks for posting this information on the targeting reticule, I had no idea really how that worked and the information will be helpful in bettering my understanding of what I'm seeing on the HUD.

Ahh I see your point. However, I have been playing MMOs since Meridian 59 (short lived) and quickly went to UO. I honestly can't count the amount of MMOs i've played in my 15 years of gaming, but you do make 1 valid point. People have different tastes. Which is fine. Where it gets ridiculous is people attempting to slander an mmo with opinions based on youtube videos.
I have no idea why you felt the need to tell us that you have 15 year of gamign experince? it still doesn't make your opinion superior or better because when it comes to MMOS likes and dislikes differ a lot.
I value his opinion more because of that. People that didn't play the old MMORPG's just don't look at things the same way...well...most of the time.
I also have decades of gaming experience, but I never use that fact as an argument for or against a game.
The only thing my long experience with MMO's and gaming in general has taught me is that until a game is actually released and has been played comprehensivly (not just 5 minutes lol) then no ones opinion means anything. Those opinions always change.
The only reasonable discussions that can take place before that is merly speculation on how certain features of a product might perform when its live.

I have to admit I was surprised how quickly I got out of the "tunnels" from the first couple areas. My "red quest/guild rep" system of progression found me in Celestial Hills at 15-16 rather than 20. Now at 18.5 I need to get 20 for my kitty cat, BAMs and dungeons.
I agree that TERA seems to get better and better but in practice I'm only 18. I'll aporeciate the game more as I learn to use the various systems it has. The future does look really good considering group content is a big factor for me and that doesn't really start until 20.
In regards to Archeage - I honestly hope it is picked up by En Masse as well. Archeage really does seem to be a next-gen mmo, and En Masse has been very impressive as a North American publisher.
This^ would be the best new ever. Enmasse has done a great job so far.
Right now, I will by everything that Trion or Enmasse publishes on general principle. These are great companies the deserve the support.
I have slight interest in Tera mainly because of the boobies on the ladies but other then that Tera to me seems like basically an upgraded Aion. Why not save my $$ and play a game thats F2P and has had years of patches adding content I say. The answer is simple :-)
Yea like I have said before this game is JUST FUN! But dang I have no idea why? I mean the combat is good the world is alive but there is something else and it is killing me that i cannot think of the reason. These guys despite having an underwelming quest system have just built a fun and ADDICTING game. Goodby crack cocaine hello Tera

Wait what? lol Last time I checked that IS aiming. You know you move your mouse around, the screen goes with it, and the crosshair follows, ie "aiming."

It is so sad to see people like you posting your self proclaimed "facts" and negativity on a game that you have A. probably never even played and B. have done no research into what the game actually offers.
It's also quite staggering that you post that it needs a better endgame when NO ONE has even experienced the endgame...

See my sig.
Edit: I guess I need to clarify for the innocent. Many moons ago I had prejudged TERA. I though Ewww Elins, Korean grindfes, fanservice, on and on. Till the last week of open beta when I shut my trap and actually tried the game. And like many people I was surprised because it's nothing like I had thought it would be.
The gorgeous world and attention to detail sucks you in. Then melee combat, as a warrior and slayer so far, felt like I was the hero in one of these action Gun-Fu movies with a sword. I was paying attention, the character felt like a seamless extension of my fingers so on and so forth.
So some people might come to the game with preconceptions (boobies) but stick with it and play day after day to get their fix of action combat.

Is the Lion mount locked to a certain level, like say 40? If not I'm really looking forward to playing after work today.
