If you are side kicked to a lvl 50 you still earn xp at the rate your normal lvl would be, the way that they powerlevel in the game is to get a lvl 42-47 usually and sk the lower member and then have the lvl 50 do a mission, since the bad guys are going to con +4-+9 to the sk person the xp gains really fast, so while powerleveling you would need a bridge or mid as some people call it.  As for the use of powerleveling i wouldn't recomend it, you miss a lot of content and story lines as well as learning how to use your powers, and at higher levels it is very evident between the people who have played the game and those who have not.  The best way to lvl is to team, more xp per mission with more mobs and you can meet some good freinds this way.

Yes, I would say no until your about lvl 42-47, then you get to join farm teams and be a "bridge" Of course you could still always say no and just do AV missions until you hit lvl 50. If this is your first toon I wouldn't agree to powerleveling until you get at least one toon to 50. Then plevel the rest of your toons if you want to. Then again its your account, your paying for it so you do what you want ::::28::

You know what is even more fun. Try teaming with 8 people. The XP is fast fun and furious and the action is fun. Couse this can suck if your on a PUG that don't cooperate but if your with a group of great friends, it's a lot of fun.

your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't

I have never understood why someone would want to power level.

There are a lot of posts here about lack of endgame content.  Why would someone want to get to that point in a hurry ?

Anyway play the game and enjoy it.  Other wise why play at all.

I would reccomend powerleveling because after a while it gets boring until you get a new power and sometimes it takes a long time to level up.

Power leveling will make you miss some of the best parts of the game. I do not know how offen I see someone looking for a mission and badge that they missed......"Fortune Teller". This mission will give you a badge you need for one of the accolades but if you power level over it you will have to find someone with the mission and be ex'ed in.

Enjoy the ride and have fun.... after all lv 50 should be a journey and not a destination.

You can tell alot about someone just by how they answer this question.

There are usually 2 schools on this.  Obviously each on seporate sides.  Yes and No.  The Yes' will never change the No's and vice versa.

Yea, powerleveling is ok.  I like to taste each power and you get a better feel for it when its maxed out.

No, powerleveling is chook.  You can tell who has been powerleveled when you play with them.

I have done both.  I have been powerleveled and I have played all the way through, both statements above are true.  But it comes down to one thing, the person behind the monitor.  How that person feels and acts will determine the best.

Would have to agree with Mogar, but I don't see the point of PLing in CoH.

In a game with open PvP I guess I get the idea: have a really powerful character and go fight other people. CoH has no open PvP. Even when CoV is added in and the PvP Zones open up, there are level limitations to avoid level 50s picking on the level 15s.

The only exception I'd make is PLing to level 14 and your first travel power. Rapid travel makes the game a lot more pleasant and you still have 36 levels to learn to use your powers.

the best way of power level is :  have a mentor lvl 42-47 and one tanker lvl 50 with dreck mish and only 6 people on team , because with more have more bosses and the mission become longer.

i do power level for my friend and for ho´s

if you are new to the game i would not recommend power leveling, the game has alot of good content that you will miss.  also there really is nothing to do once you are level50 so why rush it.  that said, i have pl'd some, but not til after i had my first 50 legit.  the only erason to do it is to fight in the arena, but so few go there it is pointless really.

i am not new to the game. i have one tanker lvl 50, one tanker lvl 27, and more 5 heroes on sever freedom

i trade pl with my friends tanker lvl 50,

i also would not recommend power leveling if you are new to the game

  • LordMizLordMiz Member Posts: 60

Imo, pl'n can still be very fun. Most will say that you will miss alot of content, but I for one still enjoyed myself. I played for about 6 weeks, and when i left i was lvl 40 fire tanker.  i had alot of help getting there, out of 40 lvl's i was pl'd for about 10 of them, although most were from the lower lvl's (5-20).

I still made many friends, and still did alot of stuff besides farming. and i enjoyed my power sets, one of the reasons i enjoyed the fast lvl'n was to get the new powers. and in the end i wound up with a very well slotted beast.

of course different folks enjoy different strokes, but i would recommend taking the chance to pl when  you get it, you always have the option of starting another toon, and dont always have the option to pl.

Since you asked how to powerlevel, I will provide you with the information.

    1) Be the lowest level hero in your group
    2) Be within 7 levels of the highest hero in your group

You can sidekick with another hero. Just make sure you are sidekicked to be the lowest hero level
in the group. For example: highest hero in group = 50. your hero level is = 42/43

    3) Make sure the team is quick to kill equal or higher level enemies.

For example: highest hero in the group is level 50, all enemies must be at least level 50 or higher. Does that make sense?

    4) Always be in a big group for larger enemy spawns. More enemies = more xp.

    =======
So, why do I post this information? Because its an abuse of the system and hopefully they will fix it.

Personally, I am not a fan of powerleveling. But, its information you wanted, so I posted. Information is free.

Now the reason why you shouldn't powerlevel?

Everyone hates the useless hero in the group. Not only do you increase mob size, you do absolutely nothing to help the team. Moreover, since you powerlevel, you dont know how to play your character like you should. This makes you worthless in team play. Not knowing how to play your character in similiar level teams makes you dead weight, and teams do not like useless paper weight.

Once word gets around, youre a powerleveler or a useless tanker/defender/controller/scrapper, forget teamming. They will not want to team with a useless sack. You'll be kicked from a team and others will be happy.

Take the hint and play normally. Everyone likes a good player.

    what mogar says.

I can perfectly understand people powerleveling.  It occours in many many games.

After you have played through every aspect of the game multiple times, and all you want to see is the different powertypes, why mess around?
