But all this is doing is encouraging more 3rd party tradeing. Since i'm not able to sell my items through the RMAH the 3rd party sites are starting to look pretty good. Not saying i'm going to use them i rather not but if it comes down to it i donno what will happen.

Why can't you use it for D3?  My pre-paid phone can send and receive text messages, it simply deducts half a minute of talk time for reading one or sending one.

That's how mine works as well. Good old Tracfone.

Maybe I'll sign up for the SMS and see if it works...

If it is not then i'll be a bit upset, I can get around the 100 dollar limit.. however if i truely have to have a cellphone and there is no other option.. I might rage a bit.

the blizzard authenticator is required to have a balance of 100 or more with a max b.net balance of 250. It only says Mobile Alerts SMS (different from Blizzard authenticator) applies to trades where payment is being made by paypal or deposited to paypal. you should rage so they change this. Can't even be a prepaid cell phone, ppl have tried putting their number in and it doesn't work.

I don't see why it wouldn't work.  Their system has no way of knowing if they are sending a text to a monthly plan or to a pre-paid phone.  In this day and age of being able to cary your phone-number to any phone it is impossible for them to tell if it is a monthly plan or pre-paid.

Go try to sign up to the SMS Authenticator Service with your phone and come back and tell me it worked. You will receive an error message telling you that the # doesn't work. Its been discussed on the d3 forum. I have a prepaid cell phone which i top up every time the mins expire and it doesn't work. Guess what? it i could also receive text messages too but Blizzard will not accept it, go ahead try it out.

Prepaid & VOIP phones have been test and do not work for regestering with their SMS Authenticator service

    This sucks.

I have texts disabled since I normally don't use them and otherwise incur a charge every time i receive an incoming text message.

Hope they have an alternate way to withdraw from your bnet account to paypal in the future.

If you think for one minute here you will make anything off this deal you're delusional. It has been done in another MMO and does not work. All you will be doing and 50,000 like you  is selling stuff that others are selling. The average gamer is going to go out and hunt and trade off his goods with others because the probability of making more than the cost of the game is ..you win the lottery!

The prices will be high at first but the sales will be very low, if anything sells. Then after a couple months the highest priced items will be under 10 bucks and probably still not selling because again most gamers want to play the game and be challenged.

If you doubt me sub to EQ2 free and check out the exchange servers. Populatons is so low they had to merge them.

I wonder if google voice will work with their service. I use it to send/receive texts through my browser for free all the time. For those unfamiliar with it, signing up for an account is also free.

I already have an authenticator tied to my account and I'm busy at the moment, but someone should try it out and see if it works.

Meh.  I currently only have a prepaid phone and that's all I really need.  I guess I won't be cashing out any time in the near future.  But if I do start selling stuff on the AH, I would be willing to use it towards the purchase of SC2 or MoP.

I think more and more people are resorting to prepaid phones for a reason.....cell phone plans are goddamn ridiculously priced.  I've gone through 3 major carriers and I can't jusify paying 150-200 a month for 2 phones just to have "everything".  I can get that with my Boost for half the price.  Oh well, guess I won't be using RMAH, don't really care either way, I doubt anyone is going to make any serious money at this game except the pro farmers anyways.

Ya i was glad when my contract ended. They offered to not include the 15$ monthly system acess fee they charge if i signed another contract. I always knew that was a bullsh*t charge that they didn't have to charge but did cuz they could. I'm pretty sure an average gamer could make enough to pay for a cheap game or even fund the next Big game purchase in the AH. You'd be suprised at what ppl spend money on, i couldn't believe someone bought my xyson preorder account for $50 bucks. More than what the game cost & it funded most of my d3 purchase.

after seeing people spending over $1000 just to be able to design an item for a game, im sure many people will make cash with real cash auction houses. youd be surprised with what people spend cash on.

It's all good. I felt really stupid after making that post. Unfortunately I was on my cell phone at the time and couldn't edit the post. I'm just leaving it now because I'm not ashamed to show the world how big of a dumbass I can be at times. haha
