Advice for a displaced AC2 gamer

Well met gang. I am new to the site being thoroughly trounced by Turbine's news to dump AC2. imageI consider myself a serious MMORPG addict, grew up with Ac1 played AC2 from start, and so look for future escape and any helpful advice. I have followed Vanguard and DDO reviews. I dont know much about EQ2. Im lookin for a MMORPG that has a world and graphics as beautiful as AC2 with the ability to succeed in solo as well as group play, (but I have limited play times and need the ability to solo in a game). I rarely engage PvP so I figured Guild wars was not for me.

Any advice would be much appreciated as the world or MMORPG is a bit overwhelming and my experience is limited. Thanks in advance for any help, Sam. image

City of Heroes is your best guess.

Solo friendly like no other MMO, fun and fast paced groups, easy to find a group.  Graphics are nices.

DDO is made by the same company who just dish AC2 to the toilett...do you really want to give them your trust again?

Not to mention that Turbines is betraying everything that make D&D what it is...Focusing on Instancing (peoples who like individuality and freedom) and Raiding (community oriented players)...it is not an impossible mix, it is an unlikely happy wedding.

    LOL

So now that you've decided that you don't like the direction the game is heading, does that mean that you are going to spam every new DDO thread with negativity from now on? Oh joy...

DDO will not be solo friendly. After about 5th level, you MUST group.

There is no PvP in DDO.

Although DDO was suppose to be based on 3.5 PnP rules, it has since been altered by various "house rules", so that the game no longer follows the PnP rule set.

So that which is good may flourish
And I shall count thee among my favored sheep
And you shall have the protection of all the angels in Heaven."

    Horizon is your best bet

I mean, I played AC2 .. and when I was thinking of horizon, I was always thinking about AC2 too, and the same for the other .. Now, I will more probably activate my horizon account instead of AC2

Since when is pnp D&D solo friendly? When is PvP a part of pnp D&D? Are the absence of these 2 things some of the 'house rules' that you are refferring to? The main gripe most people have with this game is not that it isn't following D&D, but that it isn't following what every other MMO has done.

Darque: With the exception of Neverwinter Night, name me 1 D&D computer product that is not solo friendly.

    End of discussion.

But DDO is not trying to be like all of those sorry computer games--it's trying it's best to emulate ACTUAL D&D, which is not 'solo friendly'.

I find it funny that you claim to be a hardcore D&D fan, but then try to compare a feature of DDO to the sorry lot of D&D computer games, and not the actual game itself. It's a hollow arguement--you and I both know that the majority of D&D computer games broke/discarded/altered just as many, if not more of D&D's core rules than DDO has.
