Didn't  you  have to purchase the game to participate in the BWE? so im confused how bwe could change your mind on something we already did?

poll should be : Did BWE make you "regret" purchasing.

[edit]  or are you refering to ppl who have read reviews about BWE.

The way mmo's were: Community, Exploration, Character Development, Conquest.

The way mmo's are now : Cut-Scenes,Cut-Scenes, solo Questing, Cut-Scenes...

totally agree i am so used to seeing biased polls where they only wanna hear from basically one group of people (its on a variety of boards not taking a shot at any one message board )

I've seen people's attitudes run from 'Pfft! uninstalled and getting my $$$ back" to "Wow!  It IS the second coming!"  Would like a snapshot after each event to see if people are liking what each one brings to the table.

I would say that 99% with the "Pfft, i want my money back" atitude, never played the game... The few persons saying that, here at forum, are the ones that have been trying to advertise that GW2 sucks for the last couple months.

Only people that pre-purchased the game could play. So why would someone that was very skeptical prepurchase the game?

On top of that, you can not get a refund when you prepurchased a game. Its not a pre-order.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

There are many reasons for people to hate or love any game.  I'm hoping we can get a small indication on how many people are being moved by what they are seeing/hearing from playing, reading, and watching information about the game.  Honestly, if I had played this weekend and had a horrible time, I would be very outspoken about the game.  I have concerns currently, but not enough to warrant a change of mind/demand a refund.  There could be a deal breaker coming, but I'm currently happy with the state of things.

There were like a million live streams of the game, that could give you a better idea about the game than the 10 min vids that were on youtube before the BWE. Also, maybe they played it on a friend's account, asked some friends, whose oppinions they trust if they liked it. So there are possibilities through which a person that was skeptical might have changed his oppinion.

Having worked in retail for as many years as I have, just because you 'can't' get a refund on something doesn't mean people don't demand them (nor does it mean they won't get one).  It happens all the time.  It's the only fair question I could ask for those that have prepurchased, if they disliked the game somuch as to demand a refund, obvioulsy their attitude has shifted.

I was very skeptical and pre-prechased the game to see what it wsa about. Now I am glad I did.

I would also like to point out you can cancel any pre-oder of any product that has not shipped yet at anytime even though they say otherwise. Comsumers are protected like that by laws.

It's not my intention to have kept this only to GW2 forums.  Anyone can answer the poll...I just felt that it would be considered trolling to put this poll anywhere else.

Yes i understand what you mean. I was just saying that many ppl speak without actually try it. And even if it was the most perfect mmo ever they would still come with something negative to say.

I came to forum on friday and GW2 forum had some players talking about it like it was really crap. Then, most of cases, if we check their previous posts at other threads they were saying the same thing for months or was an account made that day.

I was skeptical, But I've looked at the game very closely since last weekend and I gotta say, I was impressed. Yes, there are things in MMOs I like that are missing, but I think there is enough other things to make up for it.

Anyway, Even if the game tanks, It'll be something different to occupy my time so yeah, I'll probably pre purch prior to the next BWE.

Trolls will always troll.  What's interesting is that as this particular game has continued to be 'hyped', the trolls have had a harder time to do what they do best.  More and more people have appeared to support the game after trying/seeing it than the detractors can come up with reasons to shoot it down.  I am cringing a lot right now with the amount of 'beta is beta' comments, thus my concerns.  However, the devs are letting us know ahead of time in a lot of the cases that there are known problems that will be repaired closer to release.  Since we have no idea when release is, 'everything' can still be 'fixed'.

Yes, I prepurchased Digital Deluxe Edition and after I tried the game last Friday I requested my money back right away....

It took Arena Net 6 days to send me the email saying they refounded my money, this is one of the worst customer services I ever had to deal with. When I did the same for Tera Online I got an answer in few hours, thumbs up for EnMasse customer service.

What made me change my mind and ask my money back? Well like everyone else I had many errors and lag from the start but that's not it even on Sunday I still had lag and low FPS on my high end gaming PC which handles in high setting FFXIV and any other mmorpg there is. In GW2 I had to go to the lowest setting to get 35 FPS.

These issues might be fixed soon but main reason I didn't like was the gameplay, every few steps I was taken inside an instance to do a quest or talk to an NPC, to me personally the game feels 100% single player role playing game with chat addition.

It is very very similiar to GW1 which I didn't like at all, and the videos I have seen so far make it look better but when you actually play it feels un natural and weird. Example I don't like WoW at all and the artstyle too but the movement feels so fluid compared to the stiffness of GW2.

I hit a button by mistake and guess what poped on my screen CASH SHOP now that did it I give up that's it GW2 it's not buy2play it's a cash shop game so that's a no no!!!

I already pre-purchased the game. I was very hyped before BWE. I was a little disappointed during the BWE mostly due to low framerates which they claim will be improved before release. Since BWE ended, I've found myself eager for the next one to start. So no regrets here. Compared to other soon to be released AAA MMOs that have monthly subscriptions, GW 2 is incredibly cheap. It doesn't have to be 100% perfect to be well worth buying.

Yes, i also have some concerns about some aspects, but im liking of the staff feedback at official forums. Now and then we see an official thread about a concern players have.

Last thing i saw, and i was happy about it, was that the problem players were having to play with friends was a bug and they are working on it.

I've been critical of the game and of the community but I have always planned on buying the game and after all of the complaints I heard after the beta weekend, it compelled me to pre-order the game. I didn't expect the game to be perfect and the only thing that was stopping me was the lack of humilty form the GW2 fanbase but now that I'm seing evidence of humilty, I'm on board :)

Well these are some of the problems I've heard.  Friday was a bad day all around for everyone.  You did realize that the game is currently CPU bound and not being rendered by the GPU, this is supposed tp be part of the optimization process to be done prior to release.  However, I do understand the concern.  As far as instances, I did not see that many...I ran a good part of my personal story, and obviously this was instanced.  However, the world felt open and huge to me.  Again as far as movement i expect that to be cleared up with GPU optimization.  No problem with the cash shop here, bur I do understand everyones concerns on that.

  • keinohrkeinohr Member Posts: 60

Hmm... Is there a reason why people pre-purchase a game without knowing what to expect? Even buying a Collector's Edition or a Digital Deluxe Edition sounds ridiculous.

    Not at all.
