You do know that a lot of those swearing 8 years olds will also be playing this game right? :P. I just hope it doesn't get as bad as counter-stike did.
You know what's funny the game has a T rating and ArenaNet is publicly encouraging little girls to play the game? Won't they get in trouble for doing that?

they are probably fine as long as there is parental consent.
How about parrents and knowing what their youngest kids are up to.
My daughter played MMo's when she was 8, together with me. But then that was okay as she didn't speak any English at all back then, and her ears where protected from all the filth floating around in general chat. and she only played a couple of hours a week.
Problem is, that this kids parrents have no clue about the MMO's and the compulsive behaviour players of these games get. This girl should be playing outside in the garden with other kids of her age.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I think it all depends on context. If parents are supervising what's going on and limiting play I believe all is good. However if there is no parent involvement that's a whole other issue. She seems pretty innocent and I dought she understands a lot the neuances in the game that would be suggestive.
seriously 8 year olds shouldn't be playing mmo's they should be out playing with other kids.. as you all know mmo's are successful because they are addictive, getting an 8 year old addicted to mmo's is irresponsible.

@Lord.Bachus she looked pretty healthy and bright to me.. I dont think she is hurting there. I personally think 1 on 1 game playing with your kids is bonding and helps develop critical thinking and hand/eye coordination.. of course not in excess and I firmly agree on a teen rating for games. You can always turn on chat filters when you play with your child and dictate where you play.

Some adults weren't even able to follow the instructions necessary to log in over the weekend. I don't think anyone is too concerned that a four year old is going to sneak online without her parents being aware.

Your opinion of course. Just wondering... do you have kids? If so, you are free to raise them how you'd like. What's wrong is telling others what they should do or how to raise their children.
You know how many kids end up in dumpsters? With the Rampant child abuse issues in the world, I hardly think spending time with you kids on a computer should be called irresponsible. Just my opinion.

I agree 100% she should play outside with other kids instead playing mmo mainly for adults or at least 16 years old.
Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

The game is not for children. Big no, no. Children mind should not be exposed to hateful, immoral and agressive mmo world. She should play hello kitty online or that pinguin game if she and their parents want to let her into gaming.
Children should explore the world and it's pleasures slowly with parents supervision and when they are old enough decide by themselfes what's good, bad or whatever.
Btw those kind of things give more fuel for media and governments to hate gaming world and blame gaming companies and gamers for parents stupidity.
While gw2 may be violent in the sense of action most kids are playing games a thousand times worse with no parental supervision. She is 4 do you know her family had to buy it for her which means they probably watch her and most likely even play with her. There are far worse games she could be playing.

I am lucky enough to know every memeber of my guild IRL, its a requirement, so I don't have that problem
There are times when one must ask themselves is it my passion that truly frightens you? Or your own?
Of course! A pink and red one!
Love stories like this. Makes me feel a little less like a mean 'ol jerk for a while.

That is pretty damn cool that they would do that. Tha t kinda stuff goes a long way with the community.
I think this is fine as long as her parents keep an eye on her.
Actually she reminds me of my own childhood.. grabbing my grandpa's C64 to play Gianna Sisters.. good times.

/sigh
My son is 1 year old and he managed to make my GW1 char run and jump a bit by smashing on the keyboard... does that count?...
BTW... I demand they make a children's cartoon with those characters in the card!!!..
What can men do against such reckless hate?
