Hey Guys,
Currently, I find myself with 16 days of free time (meaning no work/school or anything) and I thinking of getting into a MMORPG. I'm a former Diablo 2 Junkie who played only in the hardcore setting, where one wrong move meant you lost all your work. So I downloaded Eq2 trial of the isle and found it to be okay but not attractive. I assume I would have played more had I been able to get off the initial island. I then did some research on the other MMORPG's and after reading a horrible review about lineage II (which a post on the front page just changed my mind) I settled on WoW.
When I mean settle on WoW, I mean settled on it to do more research on it and see how it is and I came away with the conclusion that is for casual gamers and I'll get bored of it soon. Which can be a good thing with school rolling around.
For me personally, nothing gets me hooked more than politics and status within a game and nothing drives me away more than stupid bugs, bots, and hackers. So my question is. Will I be able to reach any kind of infamy in 14 days of playing for about 10+ hours a day and my more important question, will I be able to stop playing cold turkey once school starts (in 3 weeks).
Of course this is a stupid question as I am the one who determines the answer for the latter question. I think that is amazing a game can allow people to take over castles and what not. I think that players should be solely responsible for the majority of world events. Of course, with some random world events like a huge army of enemies attacks a castle owned by players would be exciting too.
So in a short time can i fully satisfy myself with the L2 experience or will it consume me for like a year while I fail all my classes. Thanks for the read.

you're gonna ned a tad bit more than 16 days my friend
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
Well... I find it addictive.. having said that the game really is the players and their interactions.
it is not like other games where there are great quests and many different things to do... in L2 you grind or interact with others.
by that... I mean you siege them, pk them, clan war them or just "grind" with them.
the Art direction is excellent. However there are only a few ways to differentiate your character. By that I mean that there are a lot of clones running around.
And yes... 16 days is not enough to get into this game. The grind is huge and you won't really interact with many clans or alliances until you are much higher in lvl.
I would say read some reviews of the game. Though the game has changed a bit since most reviews, they will still give you a good idea about gameplay and the like.
Also, since the game has been our for a while the noob areas are a bit light. So don't be dissapointed if you don't find a lot of people to party with .

It's addictice.
I started to play about 2 weeks ago. Currently I have a lvl 32 human knight on Teon server.
In 14 days, if you power play your char, don't reroll, try to find a good group of players (it's very worth it, even if it takes a week), learn the game very well. Then you can try your first PvP encounters. get involved into politics, which is who allies and stuff.
When all of that is done ^^ you'll feel to be part of a world where YOU can make a difference. Not like in WoW where everyone's doing the same things.. In WoW, when I reached a new level I was like : ok, 15 to go...
In Lineage 2 I'm more "Yes a new level!" I don't know if you understand what I mean, but anyways.
Try it. Love it. Hate it.
Be patient. Don't judge too fast before you reach lvl 30.
Currently : chillin'
Thanks for the replies guys,
This game looks like it is perfectly suited for my taste. However, I will get ridiculously addicted and since the game seems to be 10x better than diablo and I was addicted to that, I don't think I can get involved in this game. If I play for these '14' days I know I won't be able to stop. I also want to go to Medical School, so I have to do well, I already chose a video game over school once and the consequences weren't fun.
But thanks for the reply, I guess I'll try to do constructive things during this time instead of wasting it with a game, but damn are games fun, Imagine games in like 2040.
Thanks,

You need a lot of time if you want to make any interesting character . Level isn't everything you need to get your self some god stuff like weapon and armor as fast as you can. If you play on official server better think 3-4 times before doing something cause buying unuseful skill and loosing SP isn't smart. So good luck on your yournay and God Speed .
