- Acolytes Mission Statement
The Acolytes are not your average run-of-the-mill community. We are a Gaming Community of like-minded individuals who spend their free time playing video games. We have made a name for ourselves within the online community and we have done this through quality over quantity. Our goal is to provide a quality experience for all of our members within our branches along with improving communities outside of video games through charities we donate too regularly. We have made our mark in Warhammer, Aion, Mortal Online and are currently supporting Age of Conan, Rift, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Guild Wars 2 for you to play in. Not only can you choose one to dedicate yourself to, you can choose all of them!
We have spent copious amounts of time building a strong leadership core which has led to much success in gaining a solid membership base. Throughout the glorious history of the Acolytes we have experienced many server firsts, and even quite a few of the world firsts! We have active Guild Leaders, active Officers and even more important...an active player base. An effective leadership results in a knowledgeable and bright member base.
We have a strong backing of Public Test Realm players and Closed Beta players to feed us advice and let us know (within limitations of Closed Beta Terms) what is new in the upcoming patches to the MMO’s. This solid backing of active leaders, active Officers, active players and active Beta testers has led to our success as a Community and will be the foundation to our continued success.
- A Brief History of the Acolytes
The Acolytes were formed on April 11th, 2004 by our esteemed Overlord, Hieru. He woke up one morning wanting to create a multi facet guild, and set out to do so. After tens of minutes of thought he came up with the name “Acolytes”. He began to *advertise for members of this new guild for the upcoming MMO, Age of Conan. On April 12th, 2004 after using public forums to advertise his new guild, the first member Skullcrusher joined the Acolytes. To this day, Skullcrusher still faithfully serves under the Acolyte tag in Age of Conan. After months of relase date setbacks for Age of Conan, the guild had grown to quite a few players waiting to join the game. On May 17th of 2008, after the long awaited launch of Age of Conan, we *became the Cimmeria RP-PvP’s server first guild at 10:16 a.m. server time.
On January 4th, 2008 the Acolytes became a multi-game community by opening up a Warhammer Online Division. This new division started with just 3 members (Cach, Rache, Dredger) and quickly swelled to 105 members before the October launch of Warhammer. Not only did the Acolytes quickly establish themselves as the dominant force on Cimmeria in Age of Conan, but the Acolytes of WAR quickly took over the #1 Spot on the Phoenix Throne server in Warhammer. We went on to be the first on the server to occupy a keep. Server first level 10, 20, 25 guild as well as the longest reign as #1 Destruction guild on any server.
Since then we have made our mark and ventured into Mortal Online * where we have set many marks, one being part of the first to own two territories throughout the land. We also entered the world * of Telara with the launch of Rift. We were the first guild created on the Sunrest server and picked up various server firsts. *We then went to a galaxy far, far way to the Jung Ma server with the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic, actively completing all aspects of the game. Now we enter Guild Wars 2 where we plan to add many more accomplishments to our history.
- Acolytes: The Community
As a community we boast over 370 active members in our MMO Divisions, along with numerous friends and allies that play alongside of us and visit our forums on a regular basis. We have members in every corner of the globe; from the Pacific coast of the US, to the United Kingdom, to Turkey and all the way over to Australia and New Zealand.
We are a diverse group of individuals that come from varied backgrounds, cultures and jobs. We claim many armed service men and women, a web designer, a graphic artist, a Secret Service agent, stay-at-home mom’s and dad’s, factory workers, auto workers, a disc jockey, supervisors, plant managers, salesmen, drug counselors, underwriters, stock brokers, students and the unemployed. Each one of * them brings to us a different perspective, a different feel and a different reason as to what makes them a gamer.
We have, and will always, support your choice to choose when, how and why you play. We support those that only want to PvP, those that just want to PvE and those that just want to roleplay. That’s why it’s great to be an Acolyte...we offer what no other community can: a chance to experience everything the game has to offer. The average age of an Acolyte is 26, but we range from our minimum age requirement of 17 all the way to 60 years old!
- 8 Simple Community Rules
1. Stay Active. If for whatever reason you want to take a break from the video games and the community itself...just let us know!
2. Have fun. It’s important to the Leaders that you continue to have fun. If at any time you stop having fun, and it becomes a chore to login then by all means take a step back from the keyboard and enjoy life!
3. Respect your community members.
4. No racial slurs, comments or epitaphs.
5. No religion debates.
6. No political arguments.
7. Real life comes first.
8. Follow the individual division rules.

Article on CNN
Be part of something more then just a guild for a certain game. Be part of a community. I will end with a quote from Eric Wall, a reporter from www.gamesareevil.com, from our latest interview on how communities will not only continue to grow in games, but also start contributing to communities outside of games. Link to interview
"The term, or simply the active definition of 'Community’ seems to become evermore ambivalent with each passing year in the Internet age, as it skirts the fringe of a time where human interaction can be solely played out through the terminal of a computer. It may sound as if I share the dystopic notion that all reality will collapse if enough people become detached from normal society in favor of a digital life, but instead I think the online generation will foster a new sense of true global community that will ultimately have far reaching effects into our daily lives. Although it may sound tawdry now, the basis for this future seems to become more defined each and every day with the forming of guilds, clans, and forums throughout the internet – Once such guild, the Acolytes, is going a long way to show that being in a guild, or more accurately a community, is much more then not having to type LFG."
