I think they're at a point where lowering the subscription price won't matter.
They even made free to play infantry, and that didn't even help the numbers.
Hmm. Well, the thing about the F2P infantry is that it's so secretive no way a newcomber will know about it. So you pretty much only have those few vets who just want to come back and see how things are without putting any money down. Plus it's infantry.. where they're locked with riflemen and SMG.. man, that sounds terrible. I mean it's a lot of fun when you can actually find battles.. but how often is that?
However, I am glad to see they offer a "welcome back" price at $9.99 but alas it's only for a limited 1 month.
Though maybe you and the Rats are right and I'm just naive where no matter how tempting the price it would be no use.. but they can't just keep raising the prices when things get bad for them. I mean at this point people can only leave (unless they don't mind buying plans - which I'd suggest anyway).
I can see why the free play option is hidden. It gives new players a free way to see how bad the game is right now. I can't imagine anyone played it free and then put money down and subscribed! Even a salty vet like myself couldn't take more than a week playing free before the flaws overrode any fun I was trying to have. And I've been playing infantry-only for years now, so it should have been right in my wheelhouse.
Back in its heyday this game was really really fun.........its a damn shame it seemd to be nearing its end from what I read. I have not played in about 3-4 years so I have no idea what state the game is in but from what I see it seems to be waning.
The saddest part is that when I left, it was still a good game.
They just don't have the population left to make playing it enjoyable.
Lowering the sub cost might bring some more people, but if not, there is nothing to lose. If they don't do something this game will have to shut down. There can't be that many subscribers, the game is practically an empty wasteland.

Woot!

Yeah, but its only for one month. Still, its something. I'll pay $9.99 for a month. But I'm not paying $18, so it will only be the one month.
If only the fee rate have something to do with the fun-factor.
For a game which doesn´t provide fun, playing for free will not matter - even when players getting paid 9.99 a month. If a game provides fun, the amount of subscription fee is only a secondary question.
If it would be the game back at 2005 - even with the bugs it was worth 20.- $ per month and up.
Btw. bugs - getting rid of one bug propably will create two new ones - plus poor framerates, stutters, invisible players, lags and warping Inf in towns. Vegetation kills lots of performance. Multicrewed planes are warping like Inf usually in towns is doing.
FRUs placed from a silent sneaky Inf can place a whole army in the rear without any sign or limitation by terrain (like rivers)
Gameplay is providing less and lesser fun from patch to patch - but yeah, new backbags and helmets are the changes which will solve all problems LOL-woot.

It just baffles me that CRS keeps the rates as they do.
However they have been doing this crap for several years and people keep paying them.
It's pretty evident that they dumbed down things so much over the years they are going to push for "Rapid Assault" which IMHO cuts costs for them.
It's simple economics. They make money now with the current sub price, why in hell would they lower it?
I actually though this game shut down. /shrug
5 bucks a month would be a better price for it, maybe even add in a small cash shop.
