Well met all, I am lookin to try SoR having been displaced from AC2, a game which I loved. However, Im a little gun shy to invest myself in a game if it has a questionable future so if you could, a few questions:
1. How many actives play today? and is the population stable, growing? Declining? I agree from this board and the SoR boards the community seems fantastic and I am encouraged by that.
2. Has the content been moving forward of late re: promises of their vision for a world which is not static and in which players actions help mold the world?
3, Finally how is the combat? Im tryin EQII free sample now and find combat wooden and simple and well, not very demanding.
Thanks in advance for any advice! Sam.
We should not be less than we are.
People will believe a lie, either because they desire for it to be true or they fear its opposite. WFR.

1. We have no way of knowing. It is a combined Euro/US server though. It seems busy enough peak times and members seem to be increasing. Bring more ac2 people
2. Yes.
3. As intricate or simple as you want it to be really, but it is button mashy.
It is a great game, just be sure you go to the mainland before making up your mind.

There are currently guildhalls and apartments.
Guildhalls are fun for meetings and good for storage.
Apartments are really just pretty looking personal storage. They don't offer much more than that.
R2 will offer much more build potential, so look at the Ryzom Ring stuff.

Yes what Grimachu says is true.
I guess most players are still hoping to give their appartments a bit more personal touch, but up to now, it didnt happen.
And we expect new content soon. The outpost we have been waiting for some time have been scheduled for october, so that is great news!
Ad 1: size of population unknown, but definitely growing. We see a lot of 'hello, I'm back!' posts on the SoR forums lately, plus new players moving in.
Ad 2: they announced a content patch (episode 2) for September, which they claim will allow players to have a alsting impact on the storyline. I really hope they deliver on that promise...
Ad 3: you have the wonderful option of customizing your skills to quite a degree. Skills are built up of 'bricks' in a modular way. Thus, there's stuff to try out in combat, like different approaches, which keeps things interesting.
If you give SoR a try, be sure to move off the Starter Island quite soon, as it's a rather empty place. People on the mainland are friendly, and you get to know the inner workings of the game much quicker.
Enjoy!
