Major city?

KlimaxKlimax Member Posts: 12

Where are the 'major' cities in each of the realms? I'm talking about cities where most high-level people gather for quests. Simply put, I'd like to know what the biggest outposts are, and are there also places where players from all level gather?

The capitals are each city, which have already been mentioned, are the 'big' cities.  However, they are not usually filled with lots of people.  It might be different on the classic servers.  Quests are all over the place, so the only reaon people do to the capitals is to craft (if they do not have a house), teleport, or train.  It is mostly a place where people come and go quickly and do not hang out.

I would expect plenty of people on the classic servers to be there because of crafting and lots of charaters, but over a few more months it will die down to how it is on the other servers.

So there are no places at all where people hang out to form parties for quest and stuff? Not even at the Trials of Atlantis thingy?

If so, I'm afraid this game might not be for me..It's a shame, since I liked everything else.

Thats one thing I never liked about this game. The only place Ive really seen people meet looking for groups is in Uppland (Midgard) and thats for RvR. On the new classic servers it was easy to find a group for a quest but that will die down if it hasn't already. As far as TOA goes the raids are pretty much all planned ahead of time  so hardly anyone waits around for a group there.

This is the biggest complaint I have about people who play this game.  Even on the classic servers with 3000+ people on, very few people use the /looking for group.  It has gotten better, but still people really need to use it.

It is very simple.  You turn yourself on as looking for a group.  You can also search for those that are looking for  group.  That is the easiest and best way to form a group.  I despise games where I need to be in a location with a huge amount of lag and pointless chatter trying to get a group.  This makes it very easy and is a great feature if people will just use it.

Further try to get into a good guild.  Then you can ask your guild and alliance for groups.  Between these options as long as you are on a populated server getting a group should be easy.

A note on quests - most, I would say 90+% of the quests are quests you can do solo.  So unless you are playing with a friend, getting a group together in order to do a quest isn't going to happen that often.  Most players who get into a group it is to go kill something (PvE, RvR, or ToA).

Questing has become one of the most popular ways to solo in the game so do not expect EQ or WoW quests where you need large groups of players to do a quest.  .

ToA = major suckage.  I want go through the history of blunders on this expansion, but here are what the trials are like.  You need to have a raid leader who knows what they are doing.  People all then come to one spot in ToA.  You form up groups.  You then all go out in one huge mob.  You then kill something and move to the next spot and kill something.  If you have enough people in the raid then chances are you will not be doing anything because it will be dead really quick.  If you are having to do a lot it means you will most likely end up dead.

My point are twofold: 1 a raid style expansion for DAOC was a huge mistake that needs to be fixed, and 2 that if you are a quest type people ToA will not give you what you want.  There is no story you will have time to read, no plot to figure out, etc.  If you want to read that you will need to read about it online and not in the game because ML are so boring people just rush through them to get them over.
