imageOk i have posted to get other players ideas on the runescape game. I think it has gone downhill in the last year. There is too much hard work in it. Wasnt it supposed to be a game? Also i think its very addictive and i think it is infact a dangerous game to play in some ways. Many of my friends have quit but have not been able to resist coming back. Also i think Jagex are being pretty stupid because thery havent lived up to thier promises: eg. summoning spells, carpentry, runecrafting completion, etc.

 

So what other opinions are there out there?image

    ye dangerous. Not exactly "omg its going to kill me!" dangerous but mentaly it is damaging (my opinon not factimage)

    I'm sorry, I'm not really understanding and maybe it's because it's a game I've never had much interest in, although I have a good friend that plays from time to time. Why do you believe Runescape is damaging you mentally? Or is it that you think online games, in general, are mentally (by mental, I'm assuming you mean psychological) damaging in some way?

    im not saying all online games are mentaly damaging because ive only ever played runescape and the reason i think it is because of its addictive qualitys.image

    What are you talking about? This game isn't mently dangerous. I played a couple of days and I quit. Is that dangerous?

    Oh, I see what you're saying. I have to disagree, however... the same has been said for every game out there. They said the same thing years ago, when kids were playing D&D, too. They say the same of TV and all sorts of things. I believe the addiction quality is in the person, not the medium. I've played quite a few MMOs and have never failed to quit and cancel my account for various reasons, whenever I liked. (mostly when I stopped having fun. ::::19::) In fact, I'd say I'm a bit fickle when it comes to MMOs. I'm not the sort that plays for years and years. I suppose I get bored quicker than others. But that's just me. I know a lot of people who have played the same game for 5 or 6 years and I wouldn't call them addicted.

    If you find yourself playing a game, or doing anything, to the exclusion of all else that's important in your life... your family, job, etc., you have the problem. I've heard the argument about games being addictive, dangerous, causing suicides, murders and all sorts of nasty things... but I don't buy it. I think the problem always lies in the person and they should find some help if they need to. If someone goes on a murder spree in their car after playing GTA or something, that person has a lot more wrong with him than a game could cause. If the person is a child, someone wasn't watching their children properly. It's a parent's job to supervise how their kids spend their free time, including what they do on the computer or console.

    If you just play a game when ever you have the free time and no one is complaining, and nothing else in your life is suffering... what's the harm? I'd just call that a serious hobby.

    I played Runescape for a long time about a year but i quit like 2 months ago because i realised that there are alot ALOT more better games then this but i have to amit this game is VERY addicting. After about a month i got Guild Wars, its a very good game better then Runescape but not near as addicting as Runescape. I was a member in Runescape paying $7.30 (Candian) a month for it and it is not even near worth it, I would however get bak into it if they took the price down to like $5.00 (Candian). Once u get to combat lvl 70 i think it gets boring cause ur pretty high lvl in just about everything and it seems like the fun has been took out of it cause in all of the free worlds u see lvl's around 30 and 40 getting all of the lvls up higher and u would wish that u were back down to around that lvl. Its no good starting a new account cause then u feel bad with all of the time u wasted and just giving up that account. So i would say when u play Runescape prepare to get time wastedimage

    First of all, i am suprised on how much attention runescape gets on this site.  Second, i think runescape is addictive for some people. I used to be one of those people.  i got pissed at my familyimage for not letting me play at my house (for the reason tht it collects spyware) so i resorted to playing it at the library.  I still play it occasionally but not so often as i used to.  But the kids at the library r obsessed with it.  I go to the library to check out a book ther at like 10 AM and these brothers are there waiting to get on a computer.  I come bak at like 6 PM and they're STILL THERE.  begging people (im usually 1 of them) to let them use there library cards so they could go on.  the kids there r completly obsessed with the game.image  they waste ther summers at the library instead of riding a bike or going swimming or something.  There parents should really do something about it.  The game is EXTREMELY addictive.  Is it a fun game? yes.  Is it addictive? yes I know this cuz i spent about literaly 50 in game hours getting my wood cutting to 60.  Are there better things to do thn getting ur smithing to 99 or completing all the quests? definatley.

    i have never liked runescape...too many stupid people on it. The whole dangerous factor was irrelevent to me

    this game is realy realy adictive iv tryed to quit but never could now im suck playing it,
    i soled my account to prove i was never gona play this game again but one day i started again and now have a lvl 80 account lol

    Yeah, I had to try it too..
    It helped me through the hours when I had to rest or wait in the other game I play..

    I wont go and say mmos are addicting if your playing out of habit then its an addiction but most old scholl mmoers play the games they play because an MMO isnt just a game it become a Ingame virtual society where you make friends make enemys etc etc etc.
